Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 848: Chapter 542: Arrival in Los Angeles

The news about Behind the Scenes being screened in Los Angeles, USA was published in some domestic film magazines and media, garnering a bit of attention.

In recent years, hardly any Chinese-language films have shone brightly on the international stage, attracting attention.

Behind the Scenes stands out.

This mainly credits Behind the Scenes having a producer with incredibly strong connections and capabilities, Shi Luoqi.

Shi Luoqi, being Chen Zian’s exclusive producer, has spent years dealing with cinema people from various countries, amassing a terrifying network of connections.

Moreover, with Behind the Scenes winning awards at Cannes, having awards backing it up, being a narrative with a highly upbeat emotional tone, and the previous film Life starring Zhou Yun having performed well at the box office, Shi Luoqi’s operations made American distributors feel there might genuinely be a good market for the film, thus hosting a screening event naturally followed.

Ladies and gentlemen, based on the media reactions and audience responses from this screening event, they will decide how much promotional funding and public relations funds they should allocate to Behind the Scenes.

All these are the confrontations of production and behind-the-scenes elements.

As an actress, Zhou Yun’s job is to coordinate with promotional work.

Of course, her job isn’t just promotion.

A celebrity has an undeniable role in a film.

Not just facing the audience, but also facing distributors, theater chains, and all entities related to the movie industry.

How should I put it?

Sometimes, people aren’t so confident in their judgment. Will this movie succeed? Can it achieve good box office sales?

We often see people online saying, XX crew doesn’t respect the script, doesn’t respect the art. Actually, there’s one issue many people have overlooked: those who set up a crew to film aren’t necessarily clear on what constitutes a good film. ”Good” here isn’t just about artistic merit but also about market success. Therefore, they tend to believe in those who consistently achieve great results, whether they are directors or celebrities. The logic is simple; since this person’s past achievements were good, it indicates that their vision is accurate.

Zhou Yun has market appeal now, not just because of her acting skills and awards. The key is, since her debut, every film she chose has been successful. Though Eighth Heartbeat and Dingfengbo might have had a few reputation blemishes, commercially, they all earned a fortune.

Why do producers come to offer scripts to Zhou Yun then?

There’s the aforementioned logic; if Zhou Yun selects a script, the greenlight process for production companies speeds up significantly.

Everyone trusts Zhou Yun’s judgment.

Similarly, for Behind the Scenes to be screened in the United States and follow the award season path, without Zhou Yun’s involvement, others’ interest would be lessened.

Once, a media outlet reported a small incident: one year during the awards season, a film had strong momentum, but its leading actor never appeared. Throughout the awards season, he didn’t participate in any events. When Oscar nominations were announced, the film received many nominations yet missed out on the most coveted Best Actor nomination. When media interviewed various voting committee members, many unanimously mentioned this: the actor is indeed talented and performs excellently, but he never showed up during various film events and throughout the awards season. They all thought the actor wasn’t interested in winning an Oscar.

Whether this incident is true or not is unknown, but it does make sense.

Every awards season stirs public relations storms; if you don’t appear, people will naturally overlook you.

The lead role of Behind the Scenes is Zhou Yun. If Zhou Yun doesn’t participate in the awards season, people will naturally feel a bit disappointed about the film.

Hollywood is originally a place where celebrity culture prevails.

Come on, if your leading actress doesn’t show up, why should we be interested in your film?

Public relations isn’t about bribing committee members, but rather ensuring more voting committee members watch this film, then telling them what’s good about it, and maximizing its good impression in their minds.

On the flight to Los Angeles, Zhou Yun and You Jiang traveled together.

With a smile, You Jiang said, ”I truly didn’t expect it, being at this age, suddenly playing a leading man, and even going to Hollywood for a screening.”
