Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 823: Chapter 534: Who Rules Whom

In the dead of night, Cheng Shenlv was about to sleep when her phone suddenly buzzed.

She had a small group chat with a few actors she got along with in the crew, and they usually talked in the group.

Lin Luyao sent a message in the group, saying: Guan Siya is back. I just ran into her in the corridor.

Luo Zi immediately said in the group: Really? So soon?

Lin Luyao said: Yeah, she looked as if someone had dug out her heart, she was so upset, no idea what’s going on.

Luo Zi: I heard Zhou Yun made a phone call.

Cheng Shenlv was a bit puzzled and asked: Sister Xiao Yun made what call?

Luo Zi said: The producers contacted Yuehai, but they wouldn’t budge. I heard Zhou Yun called an executive over at Yuehai, and they guaranteed to send Guan Siya back.

At this moment, Zhou Jianfeng chimed in: It wasn’t Sister Xiao Yun who made the call herself, it was her agent, Sister Lan, who called.

Luo Zi: Same difference, anyway, Yuehai respects Zhou Yun.

Lin Luyao suddenly tagged Cheng Shenlv in the group: Shenlv, aren’t you also at Yuehai? Haven’t you heard anything?

Cheng Shenlv was suddenly mentioned and felt a bit at a loss.

She replied in the group: I haven’t heard anything. I only found out she came back when you mentioned it in the group.

Lin Luyao: Okay, I thought you might know something.

This sentence reminded Cheng Shenlv.

Cheng Shenlv decided to call her agent.

Her agent indeed knew some news.

”It was arranged by President Gao. He directly told Guan Siya’s agent that if Guan Siya didn’t show up at the ’Under the Grand Dress’ crew tonight, she would be removed from all work starting tomorrow.”

Cheng Shenlv was greatly surprised.

”Guan Siya and her team outsmarted themselves, thinking that since Zeng Lili was wrapping up soon, the crew wouldn’t be able to reshoot her scenes with Zeng Lili, so they confidently took on another show. Now it’s a mess, they’ve offended everyone in ’Under the Grand Dress,’ and even President Gao is upset.”

President Gao is the executive in charge of film content at Yuehai, and offending him means Guan Siya may be out of many future Yuehai productions.

Cheng Shenlv said in shock: ”Why did President Gao do this?”

”Why else, it must be because Zhou Yun said something to him,” the agent said. ”You must be smart and never offend Zhou Yun. Lately, when I interact with others, their tone when mentioning Zhou Yun is different from when they talk about Ning Yao and Wei Ru Xue. I think the industry’s perception of her is shifting upward. You should make a good impression on her; don’t forget, her boyfriend, Song Chi, has started a film company that’s very powerful, and every film it produces is a major hit, getting a lot of attention. If you catch her eye, she might recommend you to Song Chi. Look at Wang Jing and Yuk Chu; one is her junior, the other her friend, and they’ve gotten so many roles because of her connections, even Wang Jing got a Lingjun Award nomination!”

Cheng Shenlv said: ”I know all of this, but after what happened before, I feel embarrassed when I see her and try to avoid her, how could I dare approach her.”

”That’s because you had a loose tongue and dared to say such things,” the agent said. ”It’s gracious of her to not kick you out of the crew over it.”

”I realize my mistake, I’ve learned from it, and I won’t talk recklessly like that again,” Cheng Shenlv said regretfully whenever this matter was brought up.

”Alright, we don’t have to lean on her. Now that Guan Siya has these issues, you have one less competitor at Yuehai, plenty of roles available, just work hard, and you’ll have your day in the spotlight,” the agent said. ”I heard from the company that Zhou Yun made a special call to the producer of ’Youth Story,’ asking him to look after you and Wang Jing.”

”Even me?” Cheng Shenlv asked in surprise.

”Yes, I thought I misheard too, but they said Zhou Yun did mention your name and said you were working very hard in the ’Under the Grand Dress’ production, describing you as a diligent newcomer,” the agent said. ”So, don’t dwell too much on the past incident, just don’t have any malicious thoughts like Guan Siya, and for minor complaints, Zhou Yun, being so high up in the industry, wouldn’t truly hold it against you.”
