Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 810: Chapter 529: Sudden Leave of Absence (Part 3)

In fact, many film production companies that are grooming their own male actors basically do not send invitations to Song Chi. Many directors are also hesitant to collaborate with him due to the fame he already possesses.

For these reasons, Song Chi hasn’t made much of a splash in movies these past few years. He’s made a few, and a few have been released. Reviews haven’t been bad but aren’t particularly outstanding either. Box office earnings have reached several billion or even tens of billions, but when it comes to award nominations, Song Chi is pretty much out of the picture, not even getting a nomination.

Regarding this, Song Chi eventually understood himself.

An industry cannot develop healthily if all awards go to one person, and all the momentum shouldn’t be focused solely on him.

No film company would be willing to see an actor with a ”monopolistic” advantage.

Of course, Song Chi remains an actor that every film production company wants to work with, but the works they collaborate on are primarily commercial films.

This time at the Lingjun Award, Zhou Yun’s chances of winning are still very high.

With ”Life” and ”Behind the Scenes” as a double assurance, in this slow year for Best Actress in Film, almost no one can compete with her.

The only suspense might be whether Zhou Yun wins an award for ”Life” or ”Behind the Scenes.”

Song Chi left early the next morning.

He had a meeting in the morning.

Zhou Yun looked at the red marks on her skin in the mirror, somewhat helplessly putting on a collared shirt.

In such hot weather, it’s really drawing unnecessary attention.

Song Chi was really careless.

Zhou Yun sent him a voice message, scolding him a couple of times.

After a wash and change, she got in the car and headed to the set. Today was an outdoor shoot.

Upon arriving, Zhou Yun was about to communicate with Ning Yufeng, when she suddenly saw the assistant director hurriedly running up to Ning Yufeng, saying something.

Ning Yufeng’s expression immediately changed.

Zhou Yun didn’t know what the assistant director said to Ning Yufeng, feeling a bit puzzled, just seeing Ning Yufeng hesitate before speaking to someone beside him, who quickly left.

Zhou Yun walked over and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Ning Yufeng said, ”Just got word from Lily that she has an urgent matter and needs to take leave from the crew.”

Zhou Yun was surprised.

Zeng Lili needs to take leave suddenly?

It’s not that she can’t take leave, just usually if one needs to take leave from the crew, they’d notify in advance to allow planning.

”What’s wrong with Lili? Is she feeling unwell?”

Ning Yufeng glanced around, lowered his voice, and whispered, ”Seems like something happened to her husband.”

With Zeng Lili taking leave, the scene couldn’t be filmed and they had to switch to filming something else.

During the break, Zhou Yun contacted Zeng Lili’s agent, finally understanding what happened.

Zeng Lili’s husband was diagnosed with cancer, stomach cancer.

Zhou Yun was completely taken aback upon hearing the news, at a loss. She had never dealt with cancer in her life before, but growing up, through films and various news she had seen, she knew how big an impact this could have on a family.

Lily must have been at a loss upon receiving such news suddenly?

Zeng Lili’s agent sighed, saying, ”Xiao Yun, sorry, we caused trouble for you.”

Zeng Lili had already returned home. At this moment, she had to rush back immediately.

Zhou Yun felt uneasy, saying, ”Please don’t say that, nobody wants such things to happen. I really don’t know how to comfort Lily.”

Zeng Lili’s agent: ”Lili has always had a good relationship with her husband, so with such a sudden event, Lili couldn’t really accept it at the moment. I’m on my way there.”

”Alright.” Zhou Yun understood the situation and hung up the phone.

Because of Zeng Lili’s leave, all subsequent filming plans were disrupted and had to be rearranged.

The key was, nobody knew when Zeng Lili could return to the crew.

In this situation, no one felt comfortable asking Zeng Lili about it.

Zhou Yun felt it was inappropriate to ask.

With such a big issue at home, and just taking leave, asking when she’d return felt heartless.

Fortunately, the filming was just entering the middle stages, and almost all actors were still part of the crew, avoiding any downtime.

On the third day of leave, Zeng Lili returned.

The first thing she did upon returning was to find Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun was surprised to see Zeng Lili suddenly knocking at the door, exclaiming in surprise, Lily.

Zeng Lili didn’t seem in a good state, her expression a bit lackluster.

She nodded at Zhou Yun, forced a smile and said, ”Sorry, these past few days have caused you trouble.”

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”Lily, please don’t say that. Your husband... how is he now?”

She invited Zeng Lili into her room.
