Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 802: Chapter 527: Layer Upon Layer of Surprises

In fact, various media, big and small, like to do roundups and rankings because such content always easily attracts public attention.

For example, you might not click on an article titled ”The Most Beautiful Post-90s Female Celebrities in the Entertainment Industry,” but if you saw ”Who are the Top 10 Most Beautiful Post-90s Female Celebrities in the Entertainment Scene,” you might find yourself a little curious.

Who made it onto the list, who didn’t, who’s at the top, and who’s at the bottom—these are the parts full of controversy. But the more controversial it is, the more popularity it gains, and more people will pay attention and get involved.

This year’s actor comprehensive power ranking uses the scores from one hundred industry insiders as a gimmick, making it look very credible, and naturally, everyone is even more interested in knowing the results.

And when the results are presented, people will naturally compare them with their own judgments: who ranked higher, who ranked lower, who was left out of this list—there are all kinds of opinions.

This list created a huge public pressure on Zhou Yun: Why was Zhou Yun able to take the top position?

Speaking solely of Zhou Yun, no one would doubt that Zhou Yun is the most popular actress right now and the actress with the most promising development prospects. However, although many people don’t admit it, and many criticize it, the deeply ingrained notion of ”seniority-based ranking” is rooted in many people’s minds. They habitually believe that Zhou Yun, who has just debuted not long ago, even with significant achievements, should not stand at the highest position.

Especially since this is a comprehensive power ranking. To put it simply, this list compares which female celebrity has more influence and a greater voice in the circle.

Many believe that whether it’s Wei Ru Xue, Ning Yao, or Su Yan, they all debuted much earlier than Zhou Yun, and having been popular for so many years, they’ve accumulated tremendous strength, which Zhou Yun, who has only been popular for a couple of years, cannot compare to.

For a simple example, in the European and American entertainment scene, even though Zendaya is phenomenally popular with ”Euphoria” and the ”Spiderman” series, no one would think that Zendaya’s influence in the European and American entertainment circle is greater than that of Jennifer Lawrence, who has been quieter in recent years. In terms of a simple, quantifiable indicator (of course, this isn’t the only standard), Zendaya’s pay is already very high, but Jennifer Lawrence, often ridiculed for being on the decline, still earned a top-tier $20 million for her new movie ”Don’t Look Up” last year. Another simple example is Aunt Mei’s unshakable status in the Hollywood film circle. Is it because the box office of her movies has always been high beyond comparison, or because her fame is so great that no one can surpass her? In the end, how much influence someone has in the circle is a very complex matter, not something that can be easily measured using any single quantifiable metric.

Wei Ru Xue, thanks to ”Spring Cold,” is now the highest-paid actress in the television industry, and she’s also won Best Actress, aggressively securing several high-fashion endorsements.

Su Yan, with ”Heart Inquiry,” has reached another peak in her career, lacking slightly in awards, but her popularity and buzz are almost on par with Wei Ru Xue.

As for Ning Yao, even if she hasn’t had any big, hot projects in the past two years, her foundation is very deep, with a full sweep of Movie Queen awards, astonishingly high fan loyalty, and being a favorite collaborator in the fashion industry and with brands, giving her a more upscale appeal than other actresses.

Why is Zhou Yun ranked even higher than them?

Zhou Yun’s fans produced a visual chart of Zhou Yun’s tangible achievements:

As for works, from the minor hit ”Eighth Heartbeat” to the major hit ”Heart Inquiry,” from ”Life” walking onto the Venice International Film Festival’s red carpet and gaining international fame, to ”Behind the Scenes” representing Chinese-language films in the Cannes Film Festival’s main competition and winning the Jury Prize, from international brand endorsements continuously upgrading to winning one of the three major domestic film awards—Qingmu Award for Best Actress—and one of the three major domestic television awards—Tianci Award for Best Supporting Actress, in two years, Zhou Yun’s career trajectory has skyrocketed like a rocket.

After this chart was released, many people were stunned.

But in terms of absolute tangible achievements, Zhou Yun is indeed still a bit lacking. Having just debuted a few years ago, no matter how quickly she works, she can’t surpass others’ decades of accumulation.
