Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 137: Chapter 133: A Gathering of Elites, Heading to Fancheng

Carefully examining the draft of the consensus standards from the Fan City Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Center, Dean Liu was a bit surprised, and even more so, puzzled.

’I’ve never seen a medical institution discuss the qualification requirements for Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in previous studies.’

’Conventionally, performing a Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy requires laparoscopic surgical equipment, including laparoscopes and choledochoscopes, as well as surgeons trained to skillfully perform laparoscopic cholecystectomies.’

’However, this qualification standard from the Fan City Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Research Center is completely different. It even includes fluorescence laparoscopy and National Medicine acupoint stimulation devices. Interesting.’

’What’s even more surprising is the standard for the attending surgeon. According to our country’s surgical classification regulations, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a Level 3 surgery. The attending surgeon should be an attending physician with at least three years of experience. The required number of related surgeries performed is between 13 and 200. Of course, it’s not uncommon for junior doctors to perform the surgery with authorization and supervision from a senior physician. After all, some doctors are just exceptionally talented surgeons.’

’But now, the Fan City Laparoscopic Research Center, through this modified surgical technique, has lowered the qualification for the attending surgeon to that of a senior resident. Is that really okay?’

Since the attachment didn’t include a detailed description of the Fan City Laparoscopic Research Center’s surgical procedure, Dean Liu couldn’t evaluate it in detail.

He just questioned whether such a surgical technique could really exist, one that could significantly lower the barrier to entry for laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Moreover, the attachment also claimed to drastically shorten the discharge time and result in almost no complications.

’How is this possible?’

Filled with curiosity, Dean Liu decided to accept the invitation to go to Fan City and participate in the expert consensus review for this Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy!

’I hope Ma Mengchao doesn’t make a fool of himself.’

’If they can really promote this according to the draft, it would truly be a milestone for daytime surgery.’

Dean Liu also understood the significance of establishing this consensus.

’If it really passes the review and an expert consensus is formed, the Fan City Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center will become the national standard-setter for this surgical technique. Afterward, they could also conduct training programs for other medical institutions on this new Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.’

’Only by passing the training and assessment from the Fan City Laparoscopic Research Center would an institution be qualified to perform this Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.’

This was undeniably a mark of status in the industry!

Imagine hospitals from all over the country sending personnel to the Fan City Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Center for advanced training, who would then return to promote it. This was a tremendous honor.

After Ling Ling sent out the invitations, top experts and professors from all over the country agreed to participate in this expert consensus.

A gathering of luminaries, ready to head to Fan City First Hospital in a few days!

...

...

Bei City First People’s Hospital.

In a room in the hepatobiliary surgery ward.

A man in his seventies lay on the hospital bed.

Standing by the bed was a middle-aged man who bore a strong resemblance to him.

”Dad, why are you so stubborn? With your condition, you should go to Xianglin City or Qinghe City. It’s not like I don’t have the money. How can the doctors here at Bei City Hospital be as skilled as the experts in Xianglin City or Qinghe City?”

Wang Hongqing complained about his father, a little resentful and a little worried.

”Dad, you know that I, Wang Hongqing, am a somebody in Bei City. My father is sick and having surgery at Bei City Hospital? How does that look?”

Wang Hongqing was the boss of a conglomerate in Bei City with assets in the hundreds of millions. However, he was completely helpless when it came to his old man.

Wang Hongqing came from a humble background, a true self-made man, while his father was just an ordinary, down-to-earth worker.

Even after his son became incredibly wealthy, he continued to live a relatively simple life. He didn’t like living in his son’s huge mansion and still resided in their old family home in Bei City’s town.

For a long time, the old man had a chronic problem with cirrhosis of the liver and had been receiving conservative treatment.

A few weeks ago, he experienced sudden discomfort in his liver. After a screening at Bei City Hospital, he was diagnosed with liver cancer complicated by severe cirrhosis. His overall condition was very serious.

The hepatobiliary surgeons at Bei City Hospital didn’t dare to operate on the old man and also recommended a transfer to another hospital.

But the old man was extremely stubborn.

He turned on his side on the bed, not even looking at his son, and just moaned:

”Hong Qing, I said I’m not going. Not to Qinghe City, not to Xianglin City. I’m not going anywhere.”

”I know my own condition. I don’t have many days left. Do you want me to die on an operating table in Qinghe City or Xianglin City?”

”I’m not going anywhere! You want me to die in a foreign land? I’m not going!”

The old man was convinced that his time was up and that a disease like cancer was incurable.

He was completely unwilling to leave Bei City.

If his son and daughter hadn’t begged him to come to the hospital, he wouldn’t even have wanted to come to Bei City Hospital.

He was like someone just lying in his old house, waiting for the final moment to arrive.

To return to one’s roots in death—people of Elder Wang’s generation greatly valued being able to pass away with dignity in their hometown.

He didn’t want to die a pathetic death in a cold operating room thousands of miles away, in a strange city he had never visited in his life.

Wang Hongqing was at his wit’s end with the old man.

Wang Hongqing’s wife, who at forty-two was so well-maintained she looked to be in her early thirties, suggested from the side:

”Hong Qing, the old man really doesn’t want to go elsewhere for treatment. Why don’t we invite an expert here to perform the surgery?”

”Lian Jun and Wanguang both studied medicine. Let’s have them both weigh in.”

Wang Lianjun was Wang Hongqing’s nephew and happened to be a deputy chief physician in the emergency department at Bei City Hospital.

As for Wang Wanguang, he was Wang Hongqing’s eldest son. However, after graduating, Wang Wanguang chose to stay in the hepatobiliary surgery department at Pinfan Hospital and only came back once or twice a year.

”In terms of connections and resources, Wanguang is obviously better off. But he’s over in Lin Province. Pinfan Hospital is amazing, it’s just too far away.”

”Lian Jun, on the other hand, probably knows more about the famous doctors within Jin Province. In that case, let’s have both Wanguang and Lian Jun ask around.”

Wang Hongqing still preferred to find an expert from within the province or from Xianglin City to perform the surgery. It was closer, which would also be more convenient for any future needs.

In fact, Wang Lianjun had already spent a lot of time consulting with various people and making inquiries about his grandfather’s condition.

Recently, the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center at Fan City First Hospital had been making a big name for itself.

He had a former colleague who was now in the hepatobiliary surgery department at City First Hospital, so he had managed to find out about the research center’s latest developments.

He learned that through a joint effort with Jiuhua Hospital, Saint An Hospital, and Haijin Port Hospital, City First Hospital had recently developed a brand-new auxiliary technology that could be perfectly integrated with liver tumor resection surgery.

However, this was still internal information, and Wang Lianjun had only learned about it by pulling some strings.

Wang Lianjun then personally went to the emergency department at City First Hospital to consult with Director Huo.

Director Huo already specialized in treating liver tumors. Now, with the new auxiliary technology from Wu Ting’s team, he was truly confident that his team’s ability to treat these kinds of liver tumors was on par with the nation’s top teams.

After receiving Director Huo’s promise, Wang Lianjun returned to his grandfather’s hospital room and found his uncle, Wang Hongqing.

”Uncle, I’ve already made contact. The Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center at Fan City First Hospital has pioneered a brand-new laparoscopic auxiliary technique. It’s a first in the country, and the technique has already been successfully implemented at City First Hospital.”

”I also sent Grandfather’s case files to Director Huo for review. Director Huo said his team is very confident they can treat this condition. His team is also very willing to have Grandfather transfer there for the surgery.”

”Because, on Director Huo’s end, the equipment needed for this auxiliary surgical technique is—so far—only available at the research center. It would be inconvenient to bring it to Bei City for the surgery, so he would have to go to City First Hospital.”

Wang Lianjun knew his grandfather placed great importance on returning to his roots, so he knelt down and took his grandfather’s hand.

”Grandpa, Fan City First Hospital can do the surgery. Are you willing to go?”

When the old man heard it was Fan City First Hospital, he actually nodded. A long time ago, he and his father’s family had lived near the East Gate of Fan City’s old district, so he was very familiar with the area around City First Hospital.

His birthplace was also in the Fan City district.

Seeing that his grandfather wasn’t opposed to having surgery at City First Hospital, Wang Lianjun stood up and looked at his uncle.

”Uncle, what do you think? If you agree, Director Huo said he’s willing to lead his team here first to conduct a preoperative consultation for Grandfather. Once they’ve confirmed the surgical plan, we can transfer him to the research center for the operation.”

Hearing Wang Lianjun’s words, Wang Hongqing was tempted.

However, Wang Hongqing’s wife, who was standing to the side, raised an objection:

”City First Hospital? A local team, and a newly developed surgery... wouldn’t that be unreliable?”

”Why don’t we wait for news from Wanguang?”

Besides doubting the capabilities of City First Hospital, Wang Hongqing’s wife had another thought: she didn’t want Wang Lianjun to outshine her precious son.

Wang Lianjun was just a deputy chief of emergency medicine at Bei City Hospital. How broad could his horizons possibly be?

Her son was an attending physician in hepatobiliary surgery at Pinfan Hospital. He was the one who dealt with the real, renowned experts in the field.

After all, the old man’s life was at stake. Wang Hongqing was also being cautious and felt his wife’s opinion was valid.

City First Hospital really wasn’t considered top-tier, and as for this so-called research center, it was only in its initial stages.

”Lian Jun, thank you for your effort. Let’s do this: we’ll wait for news from Wanguang. See if he can contact some well-known professors and experts from out of province.”

After learning about the situation, Wang Wanguang immediately went to his department head, Professor Liang Ang, to ask for his opinion.
