Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 132: Chapter 129: Jin Yan Joins, 3 Golden Flowers

Cheng Feng compiled Lei Bojun’s surgery into a typical case study and sent it to the project team members.

Yan Xi excitedly sent the surgical video to Shen Guofeng, who was pleasantly surprised after watching it.

He also instructed Yan Xi to cooperate closely with Wu Ting to complete her doctoral thesis and related projects as soon as possible.

Of course, before that, she was to focus all her efforts on helping Wu Ting complete the application for his Youth Fund project.

Similarly, Professor Ma Mengchao took the time to watch the surgical video. He was full of praise and encouraged his doctoral student, Ling Ling, to communicate more with Wu Ting and Yan Xi to complete her own doctoral project sooner.

Professor Ma Mengchao also gave Ling Ling special instructions to fully assist Wu Ting in writing the Youth Fund application. Once it was done, he would help review it.

From the top down, Wu Ting had completely earned the trust of the teams from both Jiuhua Hospital and Haijin Port Hospital. Both institutions were willing to throw their full support behind him to win this year’s Youth Fund project.

「Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Hospital.」

Professor Jin Yu also received the surgical video and was astonished after watching it. At the same time, he learned that Wu Ting had already begun formally drafting the Youth Fund application.

He was amazed and full of admiration for the research center’s progress.

Jin Yu called Jin Yan over directly and had her watch the surgical video.

”Jin Yan, I think you should reconsider. The research center is just getting started. You should go interact more with Wu Ting and learn from him. You could even station yourself at City First Hospital, just like Yan Xi and Ling Ling.”

”Judging by the current trend, this young team has a bright future. If you join now, you’ll be providing crucial help when it’s needed most. With your qualifications and skills, you’re guaranteed to become a pillar of the team. But if you wait until the research center is already well-established and then decide you want to join, you’ll just be another feather in its cap.”

”The research center has already passed its first phase smoothly. Yan Xi and Ling Ling are giving their all to help Wu Ting apply for this year’s Youth Fund project.”

Jin Yu knew his niece was proud and arrogant and wouldn’t listen if he said too much.

”Think it over. I have a consultation to get to.”

After speaking, Jin Yu left without giving Jin Yan a pleasant look, clearly dissatisfied with her decision.

Jin Yan frowned. She was impressed by the skill displayed in the surgery, but what surprised her more was that Dr. Yan Xi and Wu Ting had already produced results together in just a few short days.

Jin Yan’s resolve wavered, but she was still too proud to go.

However, she did ask Jin Yu for Wu Ting’s contact information.

After a moment’s thought, Jin Yan sent a friend request:

”Dr. Wu, this is Jin Yan.”

Wu Ting accepted the friend request a moment later.

Jin Yan’s fair, delicate features tensed. She furrowed her brow, pursed her lips, and after a moment of thought, typed out a message:

”I heard from Professor Jin that you’ve started writing your Youth Fund application. Congratulations!”

”Um, I have some experience in this area. Since we’re technically cooperating institutions, I can help advise if you need it.”

After sending the message, Jin Yan felt a little nervous, wondering how Wu Ting would reply.

Just as Jin Yan was thinking of unsending it, she saw the notification: Wu Ting is typing...

A moment later, Wu Ting’s reply came through: ”That would be great! Welcome aboard, Dr. Jin!”

Then, Jin Yan received a notification for a new group chat.

Wu Ting had added her to his Youth Fund application writing group.

Jin Yan looked at the group members, whose nicknames were listed: Wu Ting, Yan Xi, Ling Ling, and Cheng’s errand boy Feng.

Wu Ting quickly tagged @King Kong Barbie: ”Welcome to the group, Dr. Jin!~”

”I’ve been busy researching the algorithms for Dr. Ling’s project lately, so I’m counting on all of you for the application!”

”Cheng Feng, you’ll be in charge of integrating the feedback and suggestions from the three Ph.D.s.”

Cheng’s errand boy Feng: [Sent a ”Roger that!” sticker]

Cheng Feng was honored to join such an elite group with so many Ph.D.s. The chance to work with three of them on a Youth Fund application was an incredibly rare experience.

’Brother Ting is so awesome!’

...

...

Over the next few days, the group began drafting the Youth Fund application. Cheng Feng did the writing, while Ling Ling, Yan Xi, and Jin Yan provided the ideas and concepts.

Meanwhile, Wu Ting started programming the 3D imaging navigation platform application. Aided by the purple-tier ability, the coding went exceptionally smoothly.

Wu Ting had never written poetry, but the code he was writing now was as elegant as a poem.

After three solid days of work, Wu Ting finally finished programming the entire 3D imaging navigation platform application.

The next step was integrating it with the hardware.

Wu Ting grabbed the hard drive containing his latest work and went to find Dr. Ling.

Ling Ling was a little confused when she saw Wu Ting approaching with a hard drive.

”Dr. Ling, mission accomplished. After a few days of hard work, incorporating cutting-edge international technology and consulting with some top programmers, I’ve completely redesigned and optimized a 3D imaging navigation platform application.”

”Come with me to test it!”

Dr. Ling was incredulous. ”You rewrote the entire platform application?”

Wu Ting said nonchalantly,

”Of course, it’s all based on what you shared with me. I just optimized a few of your algorithms.”

”The main thing is in the 3D model reconstruction. I added an automation algorithm that can use a patient’s pre-operative enhanced abdominal CT scans for automatic image segmentation. Then, it uses deep learning to build a database, identify and label the organs and tissues in the segmented regions, and apply a false-color mask...”

”After that, a fitting algorithm performs secondary processing to make the model more accurately reflect the morphology of the actual organs. After a period of deep learning and database building, it will be able to create 3D reconstructed models for different organs and tissues!”

As Wu Ting explained, a strange light flashed in Ling Ling’s eyes.

”Dr. Wu, you’re a genius! These automation and fitting algorithms... they’re your own original work, aren’t they? This is incredible, absolutely incredible!”

The more Ling Ling examined the code, the more stunned she became!

Then, when Ling Ling saw how Wu Ting had established the spatial coordinate system, she was filled with a sense of worship.

”Dr. Wu, you actually linked the spatial positions of the operating room’s observational coordinate system, the laparoscope’s viewing coordinate system, and the 3D model’s coordinate system. You achieved real-time, instantaneous conversion between all three spatial frameworks!”

Ling Ling was ecstatic. This was exactly the kind of application she had dreamed of creating.

”So, Dr. Ling, I’m handing this project over to you.”

”You’ll need to debug the system’s software and hardware, build the database, and train the deep learning model.”

Wu Ting had completed the preliminary work; he planned to hand the rest over to Ling Ling.

”Of course! I’ll handle the rest. Dr. Wu, you’re incredible!”

”Ah! Ah!”

Ling Ling could hardly contain her excitement; the impact of this platform application was just too overwhelming for her.

After briefing Ling Ling, Wu Ting just had to wait for her to build the database and complete the deep learning training. Then, they could begin to truly use the 3D imaging navigation in actual surgeries.

Wu Ting took a moment to review his upcoming tasks.

Once Yan Xi’s and Ling Ling’s papers were finished, they could be submitted for publication.

As for his own papers on the Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy and the Qi Ascending-Descending Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, they were also ready for submission.

Once those papers were published, the Youth Fund application could be finalized. As long as he secured the Youth Fund project, the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center would be well on its way.

Next, he could begin developing his ”Perfect Triumvirate-Assisted Laparoscopic Technique.” He had already secured two top-tier assistants, Yan Xi and Ling Ling. All that was left was Dr. Jin Yan.

It would be best if Dr. Jin agreed to collaborate and join the research center.

If Dr. Jin was unwilling, then Wu Ting would have no choice but to develop Cheng Feng’s potential.

Although the ultrasound-assisted technique was quite difficult, he believed that with Cheng Feng’s solid fundamentals and ability to learn, he could probably manage to master it.

It was just that compared to being assisted by his ”three golden flowers,” Cheng Feng was a bit of a step down.

’It’s easy to go from frugal to lavish, but hard to go from lavish back to frugal!’

...

...

Thanks to widespread publicity, the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center at Fan City First Hospital began attracting patients from all over the province, and even from out of state, for treatment.

City First Hospital’s reputation for cholecystectomies and appendectomies grew, earning increasing trust from patients.

As a result, the reputation of City First Hospital’s hepatobiliary surgery department also soared.

During this period, all sorts of patients with biliary tract issues flocked to the hospital, drawn by its growing fame.

Cai Qi was immensely pleased. The department’s performance was better than ever, and due to the increased surgical volume, the hospital provided more support, even bringing in a new batch of doctors.

’This time, we really have the research center to thank,’ he thought. ’That Wu Ting is truly remarkable.’

Just as Cai Qi was marveling at their success, Lu Xuejun rushed in.

”Director Cai, we’ve just admitted a patient with a liver tumor, but the case is unusual. We need you for a consultation to develop a surgical plan.”

”The patient will almost certainly need a liver resection, and they’re leaning toward a laparoscopic procedure.”

Laparoscopic liver resection is minimally invasive and allows for faster recovery. However, the liver is the largest solid organ in the abdominal cavity, with a complex vascular and biliary system, which makes the laparoscopic approach exceedingly difficult.

Therefore, only the most senior surgeons would dare to lead such an operation. A case like this was completely beyond Lu Xuejun’s capabilities.

Lu Xuejun briefed Director Cai on the patient’s condition as they walked.

After hearing the details, Cai Qi’s expression grew troubled.

”The patient’s liver tumor is located very deep. With our current laparoscopic technology, we can’t get a precise location. This will be an extremely difficult surgery!”

”Go and get Director Huo. We’ll hold a joint consultation.”

Lu Xuejun was about to leave.

”On second thought, get Dr. Wu Ting as well. As the head of the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center, he should be involved.”

Lu Xuejun nodded, though he privately thought calling Wu Ting wouldn’t be much help.

After all, a liver resection was a top-tier difficulty surgery, in a completely different league from an appendectomy or cholecystectomy.

The research center had only made a name for itself in those two fields; it hadn’t yet ventured into more advanced procedures.

Cai Qi, in fact, thought the same thing when he invited Wu Ting. He wasn’t expecting Wu Ting to come up with a solution himself; rather, he was banking on the three professors backing him.

Professor Ma, Professor Shen, and Professor Jin would likely ignore a request from Cai Qi, but they would listen if Wu Ting asked.

Cai Qi lacked the confidence to perform a laparoscopic surgery on a patient with such a deeply seated liver tumor.

Soon, Lu Xuejun returned with both Wu Ting and Director Huo.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Cai Qi got straight to the point.
