Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 110: Chapter 109: The 12th Hangzhou Annual Conference on Basic Surgery Opens

Professor Ma suddenly remembered a case his student, Dr. Ling Ling, had shown him before.

Wu’s Umbilical Hole Laparoscopic Appendectomy. An appendectomy wasn’t considered a high-level surgery, but the results of Wu Ting’s new surgical technique were astonishing. It had huge market potential, and patients concerned with aesthetics would find this technique completely irresistible.

Medicine itself is meant to benefit the people. The more a fundamental surgical technique can be improved by a great leap, the more people it can benefit and reach.

Therefore, Professor Ma held a great deal of respect for this Dr. Wu from City First Hospital and was also filled with curiosity.

This time, seeing Wu Ting’s name again—and associated with an even more impactful ”National and Modern Medicine Joint Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy”—Professor Ma wished he could meet this Dr. Wu immediately and have a good long talk.

This Dr. Wu was likely limited by his platform and the surgical techniques he was exposed to, yet he was able to display such talent in these fundamental procedures. In Professor Ma’s view, this was a waste. ’A genius like this should be on a bigger stage—on my team.’

Professor Ma wasn’t sure how old this Dr. Wu Ting was. To be able to design such a surgical technique, he undoubtedly possessed a wealth of clinical experience and was at least at the director level.

He was just very curious why a doctor with such a talent for research was not well-known; he had no prior impression of him.

If Wu Ting’s two surgical techniques had been developed at Jiuhua Hospital, they would have long since made a name for him across the country, setting a new industry standard.

’Wu Ting, Fan City First Hospital!’

Professor Ma was originally going to Jin Province not just to participate in the academic exchange, but also with the intention of selecting a few hospitals there to inspect.

He also placed great importance on Dr. Wu’s research project, the ”Qi Ascending and Descending-Combined Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.” However, the application materials only contained a few summaries and a brief introduction.

Professor Ma was interested in visiting City First Hospital for an inspection, preferably to observe a surgery live.

If it was a good fit, Professor Ma could act as a recommender for this Dr. Wu’s project.

Moreover, given the talent this Dr. Wu had shown in laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment, if the results of the inspection were to his satisfaction, he wouldn’t mind collaborating with City First Hospital to jointly establish a key specialty department for laparoscopic techniques.

For Jiuhua Hospital’s general surgery department to co-found a key specialty department... an opportunity like this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

This was enough to show how much Professor Ma valued and admired Wu Ting.

Professor Ma directly gave the application from the Fan City First Hospital Hepatobiliary Surgery Department a high score, selecting it for the final list.

「Xiao City, the 12th Annual Conference on Basic Surgery.」

The conference was held at the renowned Xiao City Yi Hotel, a place of understated luxury. It was located near West Lake, offered a variety of Chinese delicacies, and its conference halls were also famous.

The caliber of this conference was very high, with famous scholars, professors, and promising young talents from all over the country in attendance.

Huo Yun, Cai Qi, Jiang Ming, and Wu Ting had also been looking forward to this day for a long time.

The four of them arrived at the conference hall together.

Watching the directors and professors from top hospitals across the country coming and going in the conference hall, even veteran directors like Huo Yun and Cai Qi seemed unremarkable, to say nothing of junior doctors like Jiang Ming and Wu Ting.

This conference was hosted by the Surgery Branch of the Jin Country Medical Association and the *World Journal of Surgical Research and New Technology*, and co-organized by Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital, Qinghe City Jiuhua Hospital, and Xianglin City’s Xuanshang University-affiliated Fenglin Hospital.

The conference kicked off promptly at 8:00 AM.

At the opening ceremony, speeches were given by Professor Ma Mengchao—Director of Basic Surgery at Qinghe City Jiuhua Hospital, a leading member of the Jin Country Surgical Association, Editor-in-Chief of the *Jin Country Surgery Journal*, and Chief Editor of the *Encyclopedia of Medicine - Abdominal Surgery Volume*; Director Zuo Lianghu, Director of General Surgery at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital; Wang Dong, Secretary-General of the Jin Province Medical Association; and Professor Huang Zhigang from Xianglin City’s Xuanshang University-affiliated Fenglin Hospital.

They congratulated the organizers on the convening of the annual basic surgery academic gala, welcomed the participation of their colleagues from Jin Province, expressed their gratitude for the relentless efforts of their peers in basic surgery over the years, and shared their hope that through everyone’s combined efforts, they could promote and advance the continuous development of surgery in their country.

The entire opening ceremony was incredibly rousing.

Although Huo Yun, Cai Qi, Jiang Ming, and Wu Ting were sitting far in the back, they too were deeply moved.

Professor Ma Mengchao, the center of attention at this year’s conference, was particularly impressive. Professor Ma shared his ”Thoughts on the Minimally Invasive Treatment of Cholangiocarcinoma,” presenting brand-new ideas and concepts on topics such as radical surgery for high cholangiocarcinoma, biliary reconstruction for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, reconstructive anastomosis of the bile duct and intestines, and lymph node dissection.

He gave an in-depth presentation on key techniques for laser surgery, treatment options for early-stage cholangiocarcinoma, and factors affecting treatment efficacy.

Finally, Professor Ma also proposed that surgeons should adhere to function-preserving principles guided by radical resection, strengthen research on tumor risk stratification, objectively recognize the advantages and limitations of minimally invasive techniques, enhance technical training and improve credentialing systems, and conduct large-scale, multi-center clinical studies!

Professor Ma’s brief presentation gave everyone present a taste of the charisma of a future academician.

This was especially true for industry veterans like Huo Yun and Cai Qi. With decades of accumulated experience, they were deeply moved and filled with admiration upon hearing Professor Ma’s presentation.

Wu Ting and Jiang Ming, being younger and less experienced, had limited understanding of such advanced surgical techniques and fields. However, that didn’t stop them from recognizing Professor Ma’s professionalism and formidable skill.

After the opening ceremony, the annual conference began in earnest. As the central figure of the event, Professor Ma was naturally swarmed by people wherever he went.

Moreover, the ones who went up to talk and introduce themselves were all top experts and directors from premier hospitals.

You could pick any one of them at random, and they would be holding a research project of national significance.

Time was limited, and it was a case of too many wolves for too little meat. These experts crowded around him. The more famous ones, whom Professor Ma knew, could chat for a little while, briefly introduce their project results, and try to lobby for their research.

But people like Huo Yun and Cai Qi were inconspicuous in this crowd of experts, forced to queue up in the back like movie extras.

As for Jiang Ming and Wu Ting, they didn’t even have the right to get close enough to talk. In front of so many senior directors, the two young men were self-aware enough to wait on the periphery.

Professor Ma Mengchao was also deliberately managing his time, shaking hands and greeting these experts and professors, trying his best to give everyone a little bit of attention.

This resulted in even less time for each person. It was basically just enough time to state their name and affiliation, perhaps briefly introduce their project, and then hand over the relevant research materials to Professor Ma’s assistant.

The lucky ones who managed to make an impression on Professor Ma might get their materials a second look.

But if the project was ordinary and the person in charge was unremarkable, their materials would probably just be shelved, never to be read closely.

Squeezed into the crowd, the backs of Cai Qi and Huo Yun looked desolate and helpless.

Jiang Ming and Wu Ting watched from the outer circle, and Jiang Ming remarked with a sigh:

”Wu Ting, this is a reflection of our hospital’s standing among all the hospitals in the country. Professor Ma represents the center of Jin Country’s medical field, Jiuhua Hospital. And people like Director Huo, representing City First Hospital, are like carp crossing a river—so numerous that they get lost in the shoal, unable to make even a single splash.”

”Even though I’m the youngest associate director at our City First Hospital, on a national level, there are plenty of people my age who have secured projects from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.”

”Those are the true chosen ones. As for us, we don’t even qualify to get in and shake Professor Ma’s hand.”

Jiang Ming sighed, a definite note of envy in his voice.
