Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 134: Chapter 130: Debut, a First Display of Formidable Might

”Professor Shen, you might not know this, but Dr. Ling and I have developed a one-to-many matching algorithm. Using a fully automated algorithm and leveraging Jiuhua Hospital’s top-tier database, we’ve trained a perfect large model.”

”Moreover, I’ve linked the spatial positions of the operating room observation coordinate system, the laparoscopic view coordinate system, and the 3D reconstruction model coordinate system. This directly achieves real-time, instantaneous conversion between the three internal spaces. Compared to traditional 3D reconstruction technology, this is at least three generations ahead.”

”That’s why I call it the 3D Image Navigation Platform application. Combined with the indocyanine green fluorescence laparoscopy technology Dr. Yan Xi and I previously developed, it can fully assist the lead surgeon. It provides real-time 3D rendering for complex and multifocal hepatobiliary tumors, precisely locates the tumors, magnifies anatomical structures, and, in fluorescence mode, can achieve a one hundred percent tumor resection rate while greatly reducing complications.”

After listening to Wu Ting’s explanation, Shen Guofeng was filled with solemn respect.

”In that case, let’s prepare for both scenarios. We’ll start the patient’s preoperative preparations now.”

”I’ll head to City First Hospital immediately. We’ll have two surgical plans. Plan A will be the conventional procedure, and I’ll be the lead surgeon. Plan B will be Wu Ting’s method. I’ll contact Professor Jin and Professor Ma right now to see if they’re available to connect remotely.”

Hearing that Shen Guofeng was willing to come and oversee the operation personally, both Huo Yun and Cai Qi felt a sense of relief.

A short while later, Shen Guofeng contacted Jin Yu and Ma Mengchao.

Professor Jin happened to be free, so he and Jin Yan agreed to participate in the surgery remotely.

Professor Ma was also quite surprised that Ling Ling’s project had made such progress. However, he was extremely busy and could only squeeze out some time to keep an eye on the surgery’s progress.

After that, everyone got to work.

Huo Yun went to speak with the patient and begin preoperative preparations.

The entire operation was moved to the affiliated operating room of the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center.

Currently, this was the only operating room equipped with Wu Ting’s 3D Image Navigation Platform application.

After all, the application was Wu Ting’s unique creation, and he wouldn’t make it public until the patent was filed. Another reason was that, at present, Dr. Ling was the only person who could operate it proficiently.

After finishing the training for the large model, Dr. Ling went directly to the operating room to begin the final pre-surgical software and hardware tests.

Wu Ting also called Dr. Yan Xi, asking her to rush to the operating room to assist with the indocyanine green fluorescence technique.

An hour and a half later, Professor Shen Guofeng arrived at the operating room.

Professor Jin and Jin Yan were also connected remotely, watching nervously.

Meanwhile, Professor Ma would steal glances at the group chat whenever he had a spare moment. In it, Cheng Feng was providing a live commentary on the surgery’s progress.

After a series of preparations in the operating room, Professor Shen Guofeng took his position as the lead surgeon.

Wu Ting was the first assistant, while Dr. Yan Xi and Dr. Ling Ling handled the auxiliary operations for the two devices.

Huo Yun and Cai Qi stood to the side, on standby. If Wu Ting’s combined assistance technology proved ineffective, they would switch plans mid-operation, convert to an open abdominal surgery, and take over as the assistants.

After all, when it came to conventional liver tumor resection, Wu Ting and the two doctors lacked experience.

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, the surgery officially began.

There were two display screens: one for the fluorescence technology’s assistance interface, and the other for the 3D image navigation interface.

”Dr. Ling, Dr. Yan, let’s begin!”

First, the view from the fluorescent laparoscope appeared, showing a structure of alternating blue, yellow, and blue. It was already much clearer and more precise than a traditional laparoscopic view. However, this patient’s liver region was filled with complex structures and numerous lesions, making it still difficult to distinguish everything.

At that moment, Ling Ling began her operations. The camera started to scan, and the real-time rendering commenced.

On the interface, the initial rendering of the 3D organ model began to appear...

Using Wu Ting’s algorithm, the system directly synchronized with the footage captured by the fluorescent laparoscope. The automated algorithm segmented and read the data, extracted the contour edges of the liver model, and further enhanced the rendering of the 3D model...

Dr. Ling Ling began to control and adjust the camera’s position, focus, viewing angle, longitude, latitude, and projection direction, rendering each aspect separately. Then, a stunning scene appeared.

Dr. Ling Ling placed two fingers on the touchscreen and began to zoom in and out of the 3D model. She could even control its rotation from multiple angles and directions.

Then, red dots indicating the lesion areas appeared all over the interface. This was the power of Wu Ting’s one-to-many algorithm and the large AI model trained through deep learning!

’Of course, Wu Ting knew very well that the current technology wasn’t perfect. If Jin Yan’s ultrasound technology could be integrated, then they could truly achieve flawless, precise positioning.’

The current lack of ultrasound technology was a slight shortcoming, but Professor Shen Guofeng’s experience, his thorough understanding of the liver’s anatomy, and the thousands of liver tumor surgeries he had performed as lead surgeon allowed him to compensate for this deficiency.

To him, the current assistance technology was like having a cheat code.

Shen Guofeng had never experienced such an effortless and fluid surgery.

Shen Guofeng began the liver resection.

During the procedure, he experienced the truly terrifying power of this combined assistance technology. After he completed a cut, the 3D image updated in real time, and what’s more, prompted by the large model, it even displayed the lesion resection rate!

Furthermore, as designed for future expansion, Ling Ling could also switch to an intelligent resection route mode, where the large model would suggest the optimal plan it had calculated.

However, this mode was not yet mature. If it could incorporate ultrasound assistance and be fed more surgical data for deep learning, then it could be truly perfected.

The feeling was just like the intelligent driving modes being introduced in today’s electric cars!

It also represented the cutting edge of artificial intelligence in the medical field.

Moreover, according to the way Wu Ting programmed the large model, it could even record the lead surgeon’s surgical habits. The more it was used, the more intuitive the system would become!

This was another strength of the automated algorithm: it could continuously update its database.

Of course, this kind of assistance technology still required the lead surgeon to have solid fundamental skills. At the end of the day, it was still just an assistive tool.

In the hands of someone like Shen Guofeng, it was like giving a tiger wings, but for surgeons like Lu Xuejun or Qin Donglai, they still weren’t quite up to par.

For highly difficult surgeries, an inexperienced lead surgeon wouldn’t be able to use it effectively. As for low-difficulty surgeries, such powerful assistance wasn’t needed.

Therefore, the best-use scenario for this assistance technology was for special cases, particularly for patients with highly complex and difficult conditions.

It could raise the skill ceiling of a single doctor, and by extension, the ceiling of an entire department and hospital!

All in all, the debut of this Surgical Technique was an astonishing success, producing breathtaking results.

With this assistance technology, Shen Guofeng completed this highly difficult laparoscopic liver tumor resection with remarkable smoothness!

Watching remotely, both Jin Yu and Jin Yan felt their blood boil with excitement.

”This is the whole reason we established this research center.”

Jin Yu, of course, saw the monumental significance of this Surgical Technique.

’This time, Jin Yan was filled with genuine regret. As soon as the surgery was over, she planned to head to City First Hospital at the first possible moment. No matter what, she had to join Wu Ting’s team and this research center.’

’Jin Yan could also see the potential for a seamless integration between her own research project and the work of Wu Ting, Yan Xi, and Ling Ling’s team.’

’If she had been there today, by Wu Ting’s side, even a chief physician from an ordinary Class A Tertiary hospital—someone on the level of Cai Qi or Huo Yun—could have handled the role of lead surgeon.’

’That was a staggering thought. With this combined Surgical Technique, Class A Tertiary hospitals all over the country could, overnight, have a top-tier master surgeon on the level of Professor Shen!’

’Jin Yan’s heart trembled, and she felt an even stronger urge to find Wu Ting immediately for a long, heart-to-heart talk.’

The surgery was completed successfully.
