Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 120: Chapter 118: Yan Xi and Ling Ling, Two Great PhDs, Join Municipal No. 1 Hospital

Shen Guofeng answered with a faint smile, not hesitating in the slightest.

”Professor Ma, I think this is an excellent project. Our Emergency Department and Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital would like to join this plan.”

Jin Yu had originally wanted to go back and think it over, but then he realized that if he hesitated, he might miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

After witnessing a few surgeries, Jin Yu had grown to greatly admire the team at Fan City First Hospital, and he was especially impressed by Wu Ting.

”Of course, our Hepatobiliary Surgery Department at Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Hospital is also willing to join this plan.”

Listening to the discussion among the heavy hitters, Dean Tang and Director Huo were both a little confused and looked toward Wu Ting.

Wu Ting calmly explained:

”Professor Ma is taking the lead. He, Professor Jin, and Professor Shen, representing three of the nation’s top institutions, are willing to collaborate with us to jointly establish a national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology.”

”And the initial foundational project will use my current surgical techniques as a starting point to develop a program for Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.”

After Wu Ting’s concise summary, the three professors—Ma, Jin, and Shen—all nodded slightly, looking at Wu Ting with admiration.

Professor Ma added:

”I will take the lead, and together with Professor Shen and Professor Jin, the three of us will jointly recommend Wu Ting’s project for this year’s National Natural Science Foundation project grant.”

According to Article 10, Paragraph 1 of Jin Country’s ”Regulations on the National Natural Science Foundation,” the principal investigator of a National Natural Science Foundation project must hold a senior professional or technical title or have a doctoral degree.

Wu Ting clearly didn’t meet either of these two requirements, so the only way was through an exception, which required recommendations from two scientific and technical personnel with senior professional or technical titles in the same field.

Wu Ting was simply too young, so this was the only path available.

Hearing the three professors’ words, both Dean Tang and Huo Yun felt a sense of unreality.

Three of the nation’s top experts were simultaneously recommending Wu Ting as the principal investigator for a science foundation grant.

What an incredible show of trust and appreciation!

Of course, beyond their personal support for Wu Ting, the prospect of jointly establishing a national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology at Fan City First Hospital left Dean Tang and Huo Yun feeling overwhelmed and incredibly honored!

”Of course, this plan can’t be implemented immediately. I’ve already roughly calculated that our national-level research center will be built in three phases.”

”Phase one, naturally, will be to get Wu Ting’s foundational project approved and then produce corresponding results.”

”Phase two will involve launching multiple other surgical techniques and developing several new research projects in addition to this foundational one. Simultaneously, we’ll invest capital, acquire equipment, and recruit talent.”

”Phase three: once we have a sufficient number of surgical techniques, research projects, and published papers, and the equipment and personnel are in place—once we’ve met the hard requirements—we will officially announce the establishment of our national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology.”

”Ultimately, I hope our research center can achieve a trinity of medical care, teaching, and scientific research, centered in the Yangtze River Delta and radiating its influence throughout the country.”

”It will undertake a large volume of scientific research and teaching, annually accepting visiting doctors for advanced training from across the province and even from other provinces, as well as interns from all major provincial universities. It will publish multiple research papers each year, host national-level continuing education classes, and constantly expand its influence to become a leading research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology in the Yangtze River Delta, and even the entire nation!”

Ma Mengchao had brought together Saint An Hospital and Haijin Port Hospital. When he made a move, it had to be extraordinary, displaying the bold ambition to stand at the very peak.

”To support the first phase of the research center’s construction, I will periodically send teams over for academic exchanges and also invite experts from all over the country to give lectures and share their knowledge.”

Listening to Professor Ma’s plan, Dean Tang and Huo Yun felt as if they’d been struck by a bolt of good fortune.

’Three top-tier hospital institutions jointly launching a national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology?’

The two of them remained stunned for a long moment before they excitedly thanked the three professors.

Even someone as composed as Dean Tang found it hard to contain his emotions:

”This is truly a great honor. Professor Ma, Professor Shen, Professor Jin, Director Shen... this is a massive opportunity for our Fan City First Hospital. Thank you for your trust. From now on, I will do everything in my power to cooperate with and support this project.”

”In our Fan City First Hospital’s development plans, we are already slated to begin construction on the southern plot of land. If this project of ours can get off the ground, I’ll apply to the hospital administration to have an entire, exclusive building designated for our research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology!”

Dean Tang was also filled with soaring ambition. If this could truly be realized, his promotion would be a dead certainty.

That was a national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology!

Centered in the Yangtze River Delta with a nationwide reach—this was an achievement Fan City First Hospital would never have dared to even dream of!

”That would be for the best. In addition to Dean Tang’s full support with funding and equipment, our three institutions will also provide maximum support in terms of technical personnel.”

Ma Mengchao looked at his doctoral student, Ling Ling:

”Ling Ling, I’m planning to base your doctoral dissertation topic at this research center. What are your thoughts on that?”

Ling Ling hadn’t expected Professor Ma to include her in this grand plan.

”If you were at Jiuhua Hospital, your dissertation wouldn’t get the kind of surgical volume to support it that you could get here at Fan City First Hospital. The department’s resources are also limited. I hope your project can blossom and bear fruit at the research center we are building with Fan City First Hospital and our three institutions.”

Professor Ma was very direct, and his analysis of the pros and cons was crystal clear.

Ling Ling hesitated. The gap between Jiuhua Hospital and Fan City First Hospital was just too wide.

’The key is that my research topic is 3D imaging visualization technology. It’s cutting-edge research. Can it really be done at Fan City First Hospital?’

”Actually, it won’t be that different from being at Jiuhua. You’ll still have all the technical support you need from me and your senior classmates. It’s just that you’ll have more opportunities for practical application. Moreover, as a newly established research center, your project will be a priority for support. I have high hopes for it.”

”It’ll just be a bit more work, traveling back and forth between Qinghe City and Fan City.”

”I hope your results can become one of the cornerstone projects for the national-level research center for laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology.”

Ma Mengchao stated his position once more.

”Dr. Ling, you can rest assured and stay. I also have some ideas and approaches for your project. We can work on it together later, and I will fully assist you.”

’I can’t let Ling Ling get away,’ Wu Ting thought. ’If I can get her to stay, she’ll be a great workhorse for me. Besides, 3D imaging visualization technology is critically important for the research center’s grand plan!’

Dean Tang also immediately showed his support. These were Ph.D. candidates from two top-tier institutions. Having them join the research center would be the biggest draw.

”Dr. Ling, as long as you stay, our entire Fan City First Hospital system will mobilize to help you succeed with this project! As for the plane tickets between Qinghe City and Fan City, the hospital will reimburse you.”

Ling Ling didn’t pay much mind to Dean Tang’s promise, but Professor Ma’s attitude and Wu Ting’s talent gave her confidence.

”Okay, Professor. I’m willing to come to Fan City First Hospital for this academic exchange and start my project on 3D imaging visualization technology. Dr. Wu, we have a deal then. You have to cooperate with me.”

”If I can’t graduate with my Ph.D., I’m holding you responsible!”

Dr. Ling knew that at this point, this was probably the best possible outcome.

”Qinghe City’s Jiuhua Hospital has made its stance clear. We at Haijin Port can’t fall behind.”

”Yan Xi, I think your project could also be based at the Fan City First Hospital Research Center. Xiao City and Fan City are only an hour apart. You can travel between the two. How about it?”

Shen Guofeng was even more confident in Wu Ting. Sending Yan Xi here to complete her doctoral dissertation was an excellent plan.

It wouldn’t interfere with his own guidance, and at Fan City First Hospital, Yan Xi would be able to conduct a large number of research experiments under even better conditions than in the labs at Haijin Port.

Yan Xi had chatted quite a bit with Wu Ting about indocyanine green fluorescence technology on the way here. Without a second thought, she flashed a pearly white smile.

”Dr. Wu, you’ll have to be responsible for me too, then!”

”If I can’t finish my doctoral dissertation and graduate, I’m going to latch onto you and never leave!”

Yan Xi looked at Wu Ting.

On the surface, Wu Ting remained as cool as a cucumber, but inwardly, he was ecstatic. ’I was just afraid you’d run off!’

’Compared to Ling Ling, I’ve already harvested almost all of Yan Xi’s entries.’

”In that case, we’ll have to communicate more in the future. Let’s strive to implement the indocyanine green fluorescence technology as soon as possible, making it a key technical support for our research center.”

With two institutions and two beautiful Ph.D. candidates having stated their positions, the pressure was now on Jin Yan.
