Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 128: Chapter 125: Becoming the Chief Resident

The research center was officially established.

The Laparoscopic Diagnosis, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Ward was established at the same time, created by integrating parts of the original emergency surgery and hepatobiliary surgery wards.

Huo Yun immediately called Wu Ting into his office.

Although Wu Ting was now the nominal head of the research center, it was just an empty title. The center was still in its initial phase and existed in name only, so Director Huo needed to give Wu Ting some real authority.

Huo Yun gave Wu Ting a brand-new appointment: chief resident of the Laparoscopic Diagnosis, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Ward!

Yasui, Luo Ming, Cheng Feng, and a few other junior doctors were transferred to the new ward to assist Wu Ting with his work.

In other words, Yasui and Luo Ming officially became Wu Ting’s assistants. The same went without saying for Cheng Feng and the others.

After becoming chief resident, Wu Ting’s authority and his compensation at the hospital were raised accordingly.

Wu Ting was very happy about this. His career was advancing steadily!

In the research center’s operating room, senior physicians like Jiang Ming, Qin Donglai, Lu Xuejun, and Song Qi would take turns as lead surgeons, while also handling their other surgeries in their original departments.

Some of the junior attending physicians from hepatobiliary surgery, like Yasui and Luo Ming, would be stationed at the research center full-time and gradually begin performing surgeries as the lead.

As for Cheng Feng, he, along with Yan Xi and Ling Ling, would primarily be responsible for the research side of things.

Now that they had the perfect outpatient procedure—fluorescent laparoscopic cholecystectomy—Yan Xi also took on the role of a training instructor for the indocyanine green technique.

Dr. Yan Xi’s first group of trainees consisted of Yasui, Luo Ming, Cheng Feng, and a few junior attending physicians from the hepatobiliary surgery department.

While teaching and training them, Yan Xi also began procuring sufficient fluorescent laparoscopy equipment in the name of the research center.

Once the first batch of equipment arrived, the first group of new fluorescent laparoscopy camera assistants trained by Yan Xi would officially graduate.

According to the plan, the new fluorescent laparoscopic cholecystectomy could be fully rolled out in as little as three days.

The National Medical Department, under the direction of Director Huang Hong, also trained its first batch of National Physicians who would specialize in supporting the research center.

Everything was proceeding at a rapid pace!

Ling Ling also officially joined Fan City First Hospital and was given her own office space near Yan Xi.

Watching Yan Xi already making progress on her doctoral project, even becoming an instructor teaching the doctors of City First Hospital how to use the fluorescent laparoscope, Ling Ling was extremely envious.

Ling Ling sought out Wu Ting’s number one lackey, Cheng Feng, to get the scoop on recent developments, especially how Wu Ting had helped Yan Xi’s career take off.

After getting a clear picture, Ling Ling went straight to Wu Ting.

”Dr. Wu, my professor entrusted me to you, you know.”

Ling Ling came out swinging. ”In the few days I was back in Qinghe City getting ready, you helped Dr. Yan completely sort out her doctoral thesis. We’re all here for an academic exchange. You can’t play favorites, Dr. Wu.”

”Dr. Wu, my field of research is 3D image visualization technology. My situation is very similar to Dr. Yan’s. My theoretical research is decent, but I’m seriously lacking in clinical practice. Dr. Wu, could you help me brainstorm some ideas too?”

Ling Ling wasn’t holding back at all. After all, her own professor had spearheaded the creation of this research center. In a way, she and Wu Ting were disciples under the same academic banner.

’As expected of the third gender, the female PhD, distinct from both men and women!’ Wu Ting thought.

However, even if Ling Ling hadn’t come looking for him, he had been planning to find her.

Possessing the [3D Image Visualization Technology (White)] skill, Wu Ting already had a solid understanding of 3D visualization technology.

”Dr. Ling, thank you very much for your trust.”

”In fact, even if you hadn’t come to me, I was planning to find you to discuss your research project. I believe 3D image visualization technology is of great significance to our research center.”

Wu Ting knew that with a female PhD like Ling Ling, he wouldn’t be able to win her over or keep her settled without offering something substantial.

”Over the past few days, I’ve actually been keeping an eye on your project and have browsed through many cutting-edge papers on the topic, both domestic and international.”

”I feel your situation, Dr. Ling, is different from Dr. Yan’s. Dr. Yan’s indocyanine green fluorescence technique is relatively mature as a technology, and advanced equipment is already available. The only thing lacking was how to integrate it with clinical surgery. The difficulty lay in practical application.”

”However, for your project, Dr. Ling, I personally believe the key with current 3D image visualization technology is to further optimize and improve the technology itself.”

”In my opinion, the automated 3D reconstruction algorithm and the 2D planar projection contour point set acquisition algorithm for 3D models that you’re currently using, Dr. Ling, still have many limitations.”

”Therefore, we need a breakthrough in the algorithms! Also, is it possible to incorporate artificial intelligence and try a one-to-many matching algorithm, a coordinate system transformation algorithm, and a real-time video rendering and augmented fusion algorithm?”

Although Wu Ting only had [3D Image Visualization Technology (White)] for now, he could reverse-engineer the process based on the skill-entry synthesis paths provided by the system.

As long as he could combine these latest algorithms and write a new application for a 3D image navigation platform, he could make Dr. Ling Ling’s project a success!

Listening to Wu Ting’s analysis, Ling Ling had a sudden epiphany.

”Dr. Wu, you’re amazing! Hearing you say all that has really given me some new ideas.”

”Then I’ll go and improve my algorithms right away! I’ll find my classmates from the computer science and mathematics departments and rebuild everything from scratch!”

Ling Ling was getting excited.

”No, no, no, you don’t need to rush to rebuild the improved algorithms just yet. Right now, the research center’s top priority is to properly serve the first batch of outpatient laparoscopic surgery patients.”

”Dr. Ling, you have a strong foundation and you’re a quick learner when it comes to high-tech equipment. How about this: for the next two days, you’ll undergo special training with me on fluorescent laparoscopic cholecystectomy and assist me in my upcoming surgeries.”

Although there were several synthesis paths for [3D Image Visualization Technology (Yellow)], Wu Ting chose the most brutish one.

That was to pull Ling Ling into a frenzy of surgeries, just like he did with Yan Xi, and directly grind out three [3D Image Visualization Technology (White)] skill entries!

’Once my own skill entry evolves, I can just pass the knowledge back to Ling Ling. As for the reason... well, I’m the head of the research center. It’s perfectly reasonable for me to look after the researchers under me, right?’

Although Ling Ling was a little disappointed to hear this, she still agreed.

After all, the research center’s future was the top priority. If the skin is gone, what can the hair attach to? Besides, working with Wu Ting and assisting in his surgeries was also a process of mutual understanding and learning.

Ling Ling’s talent was exceptional; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to secure a position at Jiuhua Hospital.

Ling Ling possessed a photographic memory, so she was already calculating in her head. ’This time, while I’m here with Wu Ting, even if I can’t make a breakthrough on my own project, I’m going to learn every single one of his surgical techniques.’

’I’ll strip him of every technique he knows!’

[Ding! Through discussion and study of her project with Ling Ling, you have acquired a skill entry from her: Photographic Memory (Purple). Dr. Ling Ling’s top-tier talent, photographic memory, allows her to memorize the image of an object after seeing it just once. She can memorize an entire medical textbook in a few days. How badass is that?!]
