Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 115: Chapter 113: 3 Top-Tier Teams Inspect City No. 1 Hospital!

While Yan Xi was arranging for the patient’s serum tumor marker tests, Professor Shen and Professor Ma started chatting in the conference room.

”Professor Ma, I must admit I’m curious. What kind of research is Wu Ting involved in? You seem to hold him in very high regard, even bringing him along with you.”

”I know for a fact that you don’t even give this level of attention to the young doctors in your own general surgery department at Jiuhua Hospital.”

Shen Xiaofei also pricked up his ears, listening intently while sipping his tea.

”Speaking of which, Wu Ting’s research topic is right up my alley. Of course, beyond his research, his clinical talent and mindset are what truly astound me.”

”Professor Shen, you must be familiar with the concept of daytime surgery, right?”

As the director of Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital, Shen Guofeng’s experience was naturally on a different level from the likes of Huo Yun from Fan City First Hospital.

”Of course. In fact, my department is also experimenting with it. Daytime surgery can significantly shorten hospital stays, reduce in-hospital infections, accelerate patient recovery, effectively improve the efficiency of medical resource utilization, and lower healthcare costs.”

”Especially at a top-tier institution like ours, medical resources are limited, yet countless patients come seeking treatment from all over the country. If we could truly implement this kind of daytime surgery, we could serve several times more patients.”

”However, daytime surgery requires a collaborative effort from surgery, anesthesiology, nursing, and other specialties to establish a standardized protocol... So far, I haven’t found the perfect vehicle for it.”

Professor Shen sighed wistfully.

”As expected of Professor Shen. Great minds think alike.”

”Fortunately, though, Wu Ting has now given us the perfect vehicle. The research he’s conducting proposes a brand-new technique: Combined Flow-Regulated Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy. It perfectly solves the issue of complications and gets the patient’s discharge time down to 12-24 hours, which perfectly aligns with our standards for daytime surgery.”

”Moreover, the laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic techniques within this research offer advantages over traditional surgery, such as being less invasive, causing less pain, requiring shorter hospital stays, and being safe and effective. This aligns perfectly with the concept of daytime surgery—it’s exactly the perfect vehicle we’ve been looking for.”

After Professor Ma finished his introduction, Shen Guofeng was thoroughly surprised.

Director Shen Xiaofei was also filled with interest.

”Professor Shen, Director Shen, to be frank with you both, after we finish this consultation and treat the patient, I plan to head to the emergency department at Fan City First Hospital for an inspection.”

After laying out his plan, Professor Ma looked at Shen Guofeng with profound meaning.

Shen Guofeng thought for a moment before stating his position:

”Professor Ma, I’m also very interested in Wu Ting’s research. How about this: once we’re done here, I’ll go with you to Fan City First Hospital’s emergency department to observe. I’m also very curious to see how Dr. Wu Ting’s team is actually implementing it.”

”Um, can I come along too?”

Shen Xiaofei, from general surgery, was also very interested. After all, laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic technology was a cutting-edge field in all of surgery.

”That would be for the best.”

Seeing Shen Guofeng and Shen Xiaofei’s reactions, Professor Ma knew the time was ripe:

”Actually, before coming here today, I also spoke with Professor Jin Yu from Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Hospital. He wants to go as well.”

”I’ve also had a brief discussion with Wu Ting and his department director, Huo Yun. Their emergency department is currently preparing to establish a provincial-level key specialty in laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic technology.”

”I have a preliminary idea. Why don’t our several institutions join forces with Fan City First Hospital to establish a national research center for laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic technology?”

”We can use Dr. Wu Ting’s team as the backbone, and our institutions can send young doctors to collaborate and simultaneously develop various laparoscopic techniques. The Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy can serve as the core research project.”

”I chose Fan City First Hospital, of course, because I value Wu Ting’s ability and potential. For this research center, our institutions will jointly provide technological and personnel support, with Wu Ting as the head of the research center and the leader of the project team.”

”To ensure a smooth launch, I’m prepared to act as a recommender for Dr. Wu Ting’s team’s research project. At the same time, I’d like to invite Professor Shen, as well as Professor Jin, to be co-recommenders.”

”As long as we can secure a national-level science foundation grant, our joint national research center for laparoscopic technology will have a solid foundation.”

”My intention is to build it into a large-scale, modern, national-level center for laparoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic technology that integrates medical care, scientific research, and teaching!”

Professor Ma laid out his grand plan directly, revealing his true intention for bringing Wu Ting to meet Shen Guofeng.

After all, he was a man on the cusp of becoming a Scholar. His vision, scope, and bearing were far beyond that of an ordinary person.

Previously, Huo Yun had only been thinking about introducing a few surgical techniques, writing a few papers, and establishing a key specialty.

But Professor Ma had elevated the entire concept, even positioning the idea of daytime surgery as the research center’s first key project!

With his first move, he had directly invited the two most representative top-tier institutions in the Central Region—Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital and Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Hospital—in addition to Qinghe City Jiuhua Hospital, which he represented.

Three domestic titans joining forces with Fan City First Hospital... just the thought of it was an insane plan!

”Of course, all of this is just my long-term strategic design.”

”Professor Shen, there’s no need to commit right away. It won’t be too late to make a decision after we inspect Fan City First Hospital.”

”If Fan City First Hospital’s emergency department doesn’t meet my standards, then I can just build another platform.”

”Of course, the most crucial factors here are Dr. Wu’s attitude and the platform he chooses to be on!”

”I brought Wu Ting here this time because if the platform at Fan City First Hospital isn’t suitable, then we can place Dr. Wu on the platform at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.”

”Originally, I was still wondering how to convince you, Professor Shen. But since you already appreciate and understand Wu Ting so well, things are much simpler. I don’t think Dr. Wu would refuse an opportunity to come to Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital either.”

Ma Mengchao was a man of firm conviction and clear goals. In his actions, he always planned ten steps ahead for every one he took.

He had started laying the groundwork for this grand plan as soon as he received the first draft of Wu Ting’s paper and met him for the first time.

His choice of Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital was also a calculated one.

After all, at his home base, Jiuhua Hospital, the internal politics were complex. Inviting Wu Ting there would lead to all sorts of constraints. Moreover, if the project failed, it would be a stain on his path to becoming a Scholar.

Therefore, the ideal scenario was to keep Wu Ting at Fan City First Hospital. There, even if the project failed, it wouldn’t affect him in the slightest.

But if it succeeded, it would become a legendary tale of Ma Mengchao turning the mundane into the miraculous, which would be a major bonus for his future Scholar evaluation.

The second-best option was Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital, but that would depend on the willingness of both Professor Shen and Wu Ting.

Now, it seemed that wasn’t a problem either!

Ma Mengchao’s sudden impulse, this whim, was a gamble that Wu Ting was a treasure worth investing in.

He didn’t lack resources, funds, or platforms. What he lacked was precisely a young talent like Wu Ting, who came with a promising research project!

”One general’s success is built on the bones of ten thousand soldiers.” The path to becoming a Scholar was the same: within a single academic lineage, all resources were funneled into producing one top-tier figure.

And once that figure became a Scholar, they would, in turn, support the disciples and grand-disciples of their own lineage.

As the direct disciple of Scholar Zeng Jiu, Ma Mengchao understood this principle deeply!

With his background and influence, teaming up with Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital and Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Hospital to actually build a national-level research center for laparoscopic technology truly wasn’t a difficult task!

For Wu Ting, this was a heaven-sent, life-changing opportunity. If he seized it, he would become one of Ma Mengchao’s own people! He would also become a grand-disciple of Scholar Zeng Jiu!

With a Scholar’s endorsement, as long as the project succeeded, Wu Ting would leap over the dragon gate.

Of course, at this moment, Wu Ting didn’t yet understand the profound implications of all this; he only felt that it was a great opportunity for him.

After Ma Mengchao and Shen Guofeng had this heart-to-heart and laid everything on the table, they didn’t continue the topic.

A short while later, Dr. Yan Xi rushed back into the consultation room.

”Professor Shen, Professor Ma, the results are in! It’s just as Dr. Wu predicted—the patient really does have early-stage cholangiocarcinoma!”
