After leaving Isabella’s Blood Cloud area, Shaya, who had just recovered, also walked out. She landed beside Gu Xi, moved her body a bit, and finally tried hard to open her eyes.

”How are you feeling?”

Gu Xi glanced at Shaya.

”It’s okay, the other wounds have been dealt with, but it seems she can’t do anything about my eyes.”

”That’s normal; the heavy shadow effect produced by your blade can’t be eliminated. Once you use it, it will always be there.”

Shaya agreed with Gu Xi’s words, but she didn’t seem to care much about these.

After a few days of practice, she could already accurately distinguish which shadow was real and which was fake.

It didn’t even affect her combat or when she talked to people, she wouldn’t glance at a blank space.

”Even if I don’t use it in the future, it will still exist. It’s nothing major. If it’s a problem, I can simply close my eyes and fight.”

Shaya had learned Blind Fighting and was confident in her hearing.

However, Gu Xi still paid a bit more attention. The next time he selected purple equipment for the Contracted Undead under him, he needed to consider the characteristics of the Contracted Undead more carefully.

To avoid such problems from arising again.

After leaving Isabella’s area, Shaya took the lead in guiding the way.

Shaya had quite detailed information in her hands, allowing her to lead Gu Xi to find the most suitable candidate.

This time they were looking for a faculty member, the secret passage administrator inside the academy.

Compared to the train rushing back and forth through the mountains and lakes, he was the true expert at rapid movement within the academy.

He could appear anywhere in the academy in no time.

And he was also the most difficult Undead to communicate with in the entire academy. Even Shaya only knew where he was but had no means of contacting him.

When Shaya led Gu Xi to the front of this Undead, she pointed to a statue not far away and said.

”The information I received is right here. As long as you can cast a spell on this peculiar statue, the Undead named David will appear.”

At the same time, those who summon him can step forward to communicate. If he agrees, the summoner can pay a fee to borrow the fast-moving secret passage from him.”

Under Shaya’s explanation, Gu Xi used a Soul Summoning Skill on the statue.

Under the Soul Summoning Skill, a gaunt old man leisurely stepped out from behind the statue.

He was wearing a linen cloth clothing that had been washed to white, his skin was like a dried-out old tree, and he held an ancient magic staff in his right hand, with runes flickering in the air.

His left hand carried an old lantern, emitting a faint but stable light.

His face was twisted and deep, with a bizarre glint in his eyes as if wanting to devour everything.

As he stepped out, Gu Xi immediately looked at the top of his head.

Under the effect of the Death Lord ability, Gu Xi saw that the old man’s attitude towards him was relatively neutral in yellow.

”Hello, I am the soon-to-be department head. This is my proof. I am planning to take a tour around the academy to select a good spot for my department. I heard you have suitable secret passages here.”

I wish to borrow your secret passages.”

As Gu Xi spoke, he took out a key to show the old man.

”It’s the key to the department head’s office. All secret passage permissions can be granted to you. Are you heading to your own office?”

”Is there such an office?”

The old man shook his head involuntarily upon hearing this, ”No, the academy has already disappeared. All the passages leading into the academy are gone, only the outer ones can still be used.”

”So, your authority is greatly reduced now?”

Gu Xi glanced at the old man.

”Yes, but somehow, I’ve managed through these years. At least in recent years, new passages have always appeared, and I have some new routes over here.”

”What about in the future? They have already united. The new academy might appear in the coming days. Will you still have control over the secret passages then?”

”Of course, no matter who becomes the academy’s head, the management rights of the secret passages are with me.”

The old man said proudly.

However, he didn’t realize that as he communicated with Gu Xi, the yellow of absolute neutrality slowly turned into a friendly green.

However, turning green was the limit. This old man’s existence was probably older than Isabella’s. His attitude was to not involve himself no matter who came.

In the end, he merely agreed to help Gu Xi open the gates, allowing Gu Xi to quickly reach every corner of the academy.

He did not agree to join Gu Xi’s ranks.

Gu Xi didn’t push the matter.

He could only inquire when the old man opened the secret passage about how these passages were set up.

Regarding secret passages, the old man didn’t hide the information, as all the passages were arranged by him alone.

The arrangement was quite simple; he would place a mark wherever he found a suitable spot, marking the gateway of a secret passage, and then place an exit on the other end, that’s all.

For the old man, secret passages were this simple.

Simple like a two-way Teleportation Gate.

He spoke in such riddles, and Gu Xi didn’t understand a bit of it, but Gu Xi was not without means.

He directly went forward to ask.

”I have a city. It’s a big city, and soon ten new districts will appear. I’m worried that I won’t be able to handle the traffic communication between the cities, so I want to ask how I should set up secret passages.”

Gu Xi’s question hit the crux of the issue.

For years, this old man hadn’t found a place to utilize his skills.

He had always been setting up secret passages in the academy’s mountains.

But he knew clearly that his greatest ability was within the city.

Therefore, setting up secret passages inside the city was what he should be doing.

If it wasn’t for knowing that a new academy would soon appear, he would immediately join Gu Xi’s team.

Even so, while leading Gu Xi into the secret passage, he gave Gu Xi some suggestions for setting up secret passages.

Gu Xi certainly couldn’t casually set two exits and declare there was a secret passage.

But the sewers and waterways in Gu Xi’s city could be converted into secret passages.

Meanwhile, the key to secret passages remained the secret doors; how to set them up was something the old man bragged about.

Gu Xi listened along the way, though he couldn’t yet establish secret passages in Yalidu City, he learned a bit about finding secret passage methods.

Gu Xi felt that his collection of useless knowledge grew by +1.
