Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 489: Chapter 487: The Death Lord Shows His Might for the First Time

After emptying the Dragon Breeding Ground of all its contents, Gu Xi promptly left with his subordinates.

This time, the Ghost Dragon didn’t cause any more disturbances, and they smoothly arrived at the location Jason had been hiding.

Gu Xi had wanted to come here from the beginning, but things got delayed until now.

The forest before them was somewhat different from the exterior forest.

It wasn’t that this forest had more vitality.

Rather, there were several streams present in the forest ahead.

This was quite rare among the mountains.

Following the stream inward, Gu Xi discovered there was a not-so-small lake in the forest.

By the lake, there were many structures like wooden houses.

Seeing these wooden houses, Gu Xi frowned; these were not the unique lakefront cottages or Forest Ranger cabins.

Judging by the architectural style, these were clearly vacation homes.

But vacationing during academy, Gu Xi couldn’t help but shake his head; he didn’t think anyone would come to live here.

At that moment, Gu Xi heard footsteps coming from behind.

Turning around, Gu Xi saw a somewhat chubby zombie, wearing a white hockey mask with all the holes, holding a long fire axe coming out.

As this zombie walked out, Gu Xi noticed a faint yellow light above its head.

This was a neutral spirit.

Seeing this, Gu Xi found the zombie before him more pleasing to the eye.

He extended his hand toward the zombie, as a greeting.

”Hello, you must be Jason. I am the new department head of the academy. We are about to construct a new academy. I came to check things out. You’re doing quite a good job.

When the new academy is built, I’ll need you to continue being responsible for the little animals’ breeding.”

As Gu Xi spoke, he extended his hand to the zombie.

Zombie Jason glanced at Gu Xi, transferred the fire axe to his left hand, and then shook hands with Gu Xi.

”I trust you. I can work for the academy; I’ll follow you in the future.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi’s ears were greeted with a ’ding’ sound.

[You convinced an Undead to join your team. The Death Lord gained 1 experience point.]

[Name: Jason

Hearing this prompt, Gu Xi blinked. Was it over just like that?

Where’s the professional effect? Wasn’t he a veterinarian?

Shouldn’t there be a profession effect?

Moreover, his skills are so strong; these are clearly combat skills!

While complaining in his heart, Gu Xi was still able to engage with Jason.

Jason was very courteous to Gu Xi, directly addressing him as ”Sir.”

This obviously indicated his willingness to fight for Gu Xi.

For resources like this, Gu Xi certainly wouldn’t refuse.

However, he was still more curious as to why Jason had no professional skills. Could it be that this wasn’t his domain?

”You mentioned small animals, yes, I can handle that. Don’t worry, just let them eat my flesh, and no matter how serious the illness, they’ll recover.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi was speechless.

He never expected Jason’s means of treating small animals to be like this.

But this also demonstrated Jason’s capability; he should be considered quite a powerful zombie.

Such an individual might not perform well in certain positions, but put him on the battlefield, he’d definitely be a fierce general.

Moreover, Gu Xi found something interesting: this zombie, clearly a close combat type, had abilities like Instant Teleportation, spirit control, and possession in his skills.

This indicated Jason’s talent wasn’t bad at all.

If possible, Gu Xi even considered taking Jason away and making him a hero.

With Jason joining, things became much smoother for Gu Xi thereafter.

With Jason around, many who weren’t neutral spirits became neutral spirits.

By the time Shaya returned with information, Gu Xi had already done a lap around the vicinity.

In the surrounding sixteen hilltops, Gu Xi easily acquired nine Undead.

Among them were six who carried grudges, and the rest were high-level Undead Soldiers above Level 10.

After joining Gu Xi’s team, not all were taken to Yalidu City.

Instead, they were stationed in place.

Gu Xi now had considerable confidence, believing he could conquer all neutral spirits within three days.

As for the enemies Karim and the others initially asked Gu Xi to handle.

That was a non-issue.

Gu Xi now didn’t even need to act himself; the six intelligent ghosts had their own communication circle. When Gu Xi explained the situation to them, they were willing to help him track down Naviduo’s subordinates.

Of course, their willingness to take this upon themselves was ambitious.

Among Gu Xi’s subordinates, there were several fairly high-level academic staff.

They were now seeking more stable employment.

The fact that Gu Xi assumed the role of department head could only secure positions for three professors and seven department staff.

Now, one of the three professor positions had been filled, and one of the seven department staff positions had been filled.

They weren’t particularly strong spirits, making it somewhat unrealistic to seize a position directly.

Now, by targeting Naviduo’s subordinates, they could seize some new authority, ensuring a position within the academy.

Thus, these Undead were all quite eager. They saw this as an opportunity.

Hence, the news spread quickly among the spirits. If Naviduo weren’t still a department head with advanced authority, someone might have already started preparing to strike against Naviduo’s subordinates.

At this time, Shaya returned carrying various news.

Once she met Gu Xi, Shaya said, ”Sir, I’ve checked through all neutral academic staff, marking those with professor-level abilities and others marked for highly capable yet not focused on the academy.

If we can bring them back to Yalidu City, they can assist us greatly.

Most importantly, some of Yalidu City’s buildings currently lack controllers, fitting perfectly for them.”

Receiving the intel, Gu Xi first noticed a name.

”Isabella?”
