Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 480: Chapter 478: The First Undead to Join Automatically (Second Bonus Chapter)

Mantis.

A tall mantis with a shell of deep gray stood there, the size of a normal human, and the color seemingly condensed from the gloom of the shell instantly revealed that it had lost the breath of life.

Its head carried a clear human face, with long antennae and red compound eyes as its last stubbornness as a mantis.

Its ornaments were even more startling.

Those tiny ornaments pieced together with human skulls and amber, densely covering its body, would emit a humming sound when the wind blew.

Combined with a pair of huge scythe hands, the sharpness that seemed to easily slash through human bones clearly showcased this creature’s power.

It was exactly the opposite of Xavier, two different beings.

A powerful Undead with high-speed movement and high attack.

Upon meeting Gu Xi, this mantis did not attack immediately, but stared at Gu Xi.

Gu Xi wasn’t quite sure what the situation with this mantis was.

But given its size, it was probably the kind that Gu Xi remembered could be used for dragon slaying.

This guy was a formidable opponent.

Facing such an enemy, Gu Xi couldn’t kite anymore.

Playing like this would definitely end up playing himself into a corner.

After glancing at his mana, Gu Xi secretly drank a miniature magic potion that restored 100 mana.

Gu Xi then aimed the Cold Wind Staff at the mantis, preparing to strike.

The name of the Death Incarnation was about to be called out by Gu Xi.

He never expected that at this moment, the mantis would suddenly speak.

”Please don’t attack, I am willing to surrender.”

Gu Xi was momentarily stunned, the attack in his hand almost released.

Fortunately, he held down the Cold Wind Staff, looking up at the mantis with disbelief.

Meanwhile, he checked the information that popped up in front of him.

[An Undead feels your powerful strength and is willing to join your team. Do you accept the other party’s surrender?]

Such a fortunate event?

Gu Xi thought every Undead had to be beaten, possibly until they almost died, before surrendering.

He didn’t expect such a straightforward surrender.

Actually, Gu Xi kind of forgot that he possessed the Diplomacy Skill.

Even without the Death Decree, he could recruit neutral forces to join him through money and other means.

It’s just that he had never encountered such a situation before, so he wasn’t familiar with what was happening in front of him.

Now with this as the first example, Gu Xi naturally reacted.

”Accept.”

With Gu Xi’s acceptance, a new prompt popped up.

[’Ripper’ Ricar joined your team.]

[Ding! Temporary Task: Upper-Rank Undead progress changed, having defeated and recruited two Level 10 or above Undead (2/3).]

Gu Xi looked up at the mantis people Ricar before him and then at the attributes, somewhat puzzled, he asked.

”Ricar, can you share your thoughts, why did you want to join my team?”

”You look familiar, and your strength is decent, not weak. Is there a problem with me joining?”

”Of course not.”

Gu Xi didn’t expect an Undead willing to join him to have such a mindset.

But actually, it was good because at least he didn’t need to worry about the thoughts of the Undead wanting to join the team after getting the Death Lord skill.

It seems the Death Lord skill is somewhat like Diplomacy.

The influenced Undead have reasons to join the team willingly.

His skill only influences, not changes their spirit or forces them to join.

”That’s good. Do you have plans for the future?

Will you follow me or go to my city, or stay in this academy?”

Gu Xi was concerned about the first few subordinates who joined him.

Just like when Gu Xi became an Undead Mage, he used to organize squads for the first few Skeleton Bosses as subordinates.

At present, he showed more tolerance toward Undead proactively joining him.

”Lord, I would like to become a dedicated teaching personnel with a department.”

This request surprised Gu Xi, and he didn’t immediately agree but asked, ”Then what would you teach?”

”Swordsmanship?”

Ricar looked at Gu Xi, noticing Gu Xi’s speechlessness.

He immediately said: ”That’s all I can teach, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do anything else. If you give me a teaching personnel position, I can bring my friends along.

We can form a team to teach something together.”

”How many friends do you have?”

”Including me, there are seventeen of us, but rest assured, we’ve been dealing with farm insects in the academy for many years; seventeen people can count as one.”

Gu Xi didn’t expect such a approach.

But it undeniably provided a thought.

”Okay, your suggestion is quite reasonable. Go find people now; you don’t need all seventeen friends, as long as twelve or more are willing, I’ll give you a teaching personnel position.”

Gu Xi decisively said.

Upon hearing Gu Xi’s words, Ricar was thrilled.

”Don’t worry, Lord, I will definitely bring them back.”

After finishing, Ricar flashed in front of Gu Xi, and a moment later, Gu Xi saw a gray silhouette vanish before him.

Looking toward Ricar’s disappearing direction, Gu Xi couldn’t help but admire Ricar’s audacity in pursuing a teaching personnel position.

With his strength, truly being an enemy would possibly overwhelm Gu Xi’s subordinates against his attack.

To achieve parity with Ricar, perhaps only Shaya, who pursued the assassin killer route, could accomplish it.

With Ricar’s involvement, Gu Xi wouldn’t underestimate the Undead of this world. Heading towards Julie’s location, Gu Xi brought out the Death Incarnation ahead of time, avoiding potential problems at the critical moment.
