Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 469: Chapter 467: The Arrival of the Department Heads

Listening to Vega’s introduction, Gu Xi got a general understanding of the situation.

It turns out that inside the academy, there is actually a hierarchy of permissions.

The principal is the highest level, controlling the entire academy; he can easily appear anywhere and monitor everything in the academy, essentially making him invincible within its walls.

But the current principal should already be dead. The vice-principal, originally the head of the Mountain Leopard Department, stole the principal’s permissions and disappeared along with the main building of the academy into some space and time void.

Along with them disappeared part of the permissions held by the department heads.

Each department head has a portion of permissions primarily used to manage students in their department and their own teaching specialty.

Then there are the professors, who also hold some permissions. Some, due to their long tenure or unique abilities, have higher permissions than some department heads.

For example, the Soul-controlling Bell mentioned by Gu Xi is a crucial part of the academy’s defense system.

Normally, it should be in the hands of the principal and vice-principal.

However, the professors of Golem Science and Puppetry also have a copy.

This is why there are extra Soul-controlling Bells.

There are many such items, but few as important as the Soul-controlling Bell.

Vega dared not touch this Soul-controlling Bell, fearing that as soon as it was in his hands, he would lose his life.

He could only aspire to the next level of permission, that of the faculty staff.

These faculty staff are not professors, mainly including librarians, Forbidden Forest guardians, and key managers.

They have relatively special permissions that don’t serve much purpose, mainly to assist students.

After that, at the lowest level, are the students’ permissions. Students can study in the academy and can learn at least four basic skills, or other skills.

As for the rest, there’s nothing more, but the academy guarantees every student who enters stays alive.

At this point, Vega actually glanced at Gu Xi.

”It’s a pity for you, coming in when the academy is like this, you technically aren’t even considered a student.”

”Oh, I’m not considered a student? Then can I bypass academy rules and learn more skills?”

Vega had no idea how to respond to Gu Xi’s question.

In his opinion, the question Gu Xi raised was completely unreasonable.

Traditionally, at the Mysterious Academy, learning has always been four skills.

You can learn fewer, but never more.

To even think about breaking academy rules, that’s simply impossible.

Just as Vega was contemplating how to explain to Gu Xi that only four skills could be learned at the Mysterious Academy, a voice sounded from behind him.

”It’s not possible. Regardless of the era, students can only learn four basic skills in the academy.

However, I can help you with something. You seem not to have learned anything; what you have mastered here was obtained as a reward for helping the department head.

I can help you enroll, giving you a chance to enroll again and learn four basic skills.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi was shocked and looked in the direction the voice came from, only to find a woman over five meters tall walking towards them.

The woman was not in the skeleton status Gu Xi had seen outside the academy; her skin was somewhat pale, resembling Di Mi’s skin condition.

She was clad in a skirt-style armor made of red and black iron plates.

When walking forward, she could do so silently.

While she was moving, Gu Xi also noticed that a large amount of white steam was emitted from her back.

In a few steps, she stopped about thirty meters in front of Gu Xi.

She first surveyed the surroundings, then spoke.

”My name is Miranda, head of the Bat Department. I heard from Vega that you have the Soul-controlling Bell? How about making a deal with me? I can guarantee you a chance to re-enroll.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi was tempted.

If he could truly re-enroll, handing over a Soul-controlling Bell, which was useless to him, wasn’t out of the question.

”Giving the Soul-controlling Bell to you would be a waste, Miranda. You should know your capabilities; you can’t beat Naviduo.”

At this time, another voice emerged, and a normal-sized skeleton walked out from nearby.

This skeleton was wearing a black robe and carried a magic staff with a fist-sized diamond embedded in the staff head, with a silver longsword hanging from his waist.

When moving forward, blue magic arrays occasionally appeared under his feet, allowing him to teleport forward a distance instantly.

In a few steps, he also reached about thirty meters from Gu Xi.

However, Gu Xi noticed that he seemed to be standing within ten meters of Miranda.

Clearly, they knew each other and seemed to have a fairly good relationship.

”My name is Calimduo, head of the Crocodile Department. I saw you on the lake before; you rode the train after that and left.

I originally wanted to communicate with you, but you got off the train in the mountains, where I had reasons not to enter.

So I missed the chance to meet you.

This time, I wouldn’t have come to find you if I hadn’t heard someone was inquiring about selling the Soul-controlling Bell.

It’s you who took the Soul-controlling Bell that Naviduo wants.

He’s the kind of person who always treats students as pawns.

He never tells others what he really wants.

As a result, what he wants always gets treated as trash or unneeded items, picked up or thrown away by others.

Yet he always ends up in this situation, facing such occurrences every time.”

Calimduo mocked Naviduo, the black-robed skeleton Gu Xi encountered, laughing at his futile efforts.

After mocking, Calimduo shifted tone, ”With the Soul-controlling Bell in your hands now, Naviduo will certainly try to snatch it back. Holding onto it is a waste; why not cooperate with us?”

Gu Xi glanced at Calimduo and then smiled.

”Cooperation is fine, but Lady Miranda just offered me the opportunity to enroll in the academy again; what can I gain by cooperating with you?”

”Miranda can’t beat Naviduo,” Calimduo scoffed at Gu Xi.

”So what? You don’t expect me to wait here till you finish fighting and rebuild the academy, do you?”

Gu Xi’s face showed disbelief.

”I definitely need to hold onto the academy’s admission ticket. Once the academy is rebuilt, I’ll just use the ticket to enter.

I believe, no matter who wins, you won’t deny this admission ticket, right?”
