Shaya received the mission and left swiftly, yet Gu Xi was not in such a hurry to get on the road.

The reason Gu Xi was rushing was mainly due to planning to complete the mission over on Madam Sha’s side.

Now seeing that the situation didn’t seem right, Gu Xi no longer had the intention to hurry.

”Set up camp here, prepare for battle.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the Undead who survived the previous battle quickly took action, leading Gu Xi to a nearby spot fit for camping, quickly setting things up.

At the same time, Gu Xi also deployed the Steel City Gate as a support for his battle.

With the Steel City Gate deployed, the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon also appeared near the gate. Instead of becoming a clone, it roamed around the gate.

Right now, it was in its weakest status, vulnerable to any magic or physical attack before transforming into a clone form.

But with no enemies currently, and no direction for transformation, it could only remain as such.

However, Gu Xi noticed that four turtles were roaming beside the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon.

They didn’t quite resemble the solemn Turtle Prime Minister, instead having limbs of normal human length, appearing as close combat experts.

As Gu Xi glanced over, they seemed to sense it, turning their heads toward Gu Xi.

As they turned, Gu Xi noticed that all their eyes lacked pupils, making it clear they were not living beings.

Such a reaction surprised Gu Xi somewhat.

However, Gu Xi quickly realized that they were considered subordinates of the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon and not entirely his own forces.

It seemed that the Ghost Realm of the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon was starting to take shape.

At this moment, Shaya hurried back.

”Master.”

”Why are you back so soon? Did you find something out?”

Not bothered by other matters, Shaya directly reported the situation upon seeing Gu Xi.

”Initially, I thought it would take a long time, but unexpectedly, this thing was quite famous. As soon as they saw it, they knew who it belonged to — a professor from the Reindeer Department.

It’s said he used to teach Magical Creatures, but later disappeared for unknown reasons. However, the shield began as his work during school and was quite renowned at the academy back then. So when I presented it, someone recognized it immediately.”

”From the reindeer side?”

Gu Xi immediately thought of the Black-robed Skeleton.

It seemed he claimed to belong to the Reindeer Department, and based on the current circumstances, other professors who graduated from the Reindeer Department should have some connection with him.

Yet, Gu Xi’s relationship with the Black-robed Skeleton should have been quite good.

Why would he send people to attack me?

With a solemn expression, Gu Xi instructed, ”Shaya, something’s not right. Recall if there’s any detail we might have overlooked during the previous battle?”

Shaya, tasked with intelligence work, was better at memory and details compared to Gu Xi.

Upon this request, Shaya promptly reviewed the previous battle.

The enemy had ambushed from the sky, coupled with the extremely high speed of the Phoenix, leaving Gu Xi and his team unresponsive during the first wave of attack.

Afterward...

At this moment, Shaya suddenly mentioned.

”Master, it seemed like when you escaped, the opponent demanded you hand over something. He came searching for something and confirmed it was in your possession.”

”What could it be?

The Fire Rat King’s fang?

That doesn’t seem right.” Gu Xi pondered deeply, ”This mission was received from Madam Sha, and it’s clear she wasn’t connected to the Reindeer Department, directly or indirectly.

Could it be that Legacy Skull?

Earlier, the Black-robed Skeleton had a similar item for legacy purposes as well?

Or could this be the crucial item in the Mysterious Academy?”

Gu Xi analyzed his thoughts back and forth.

”Master, your assumption seems incorrect.”

As an intelligence personnel, Shaya paid keen attention to details.

”Master, our encounter at Mad Willow Forest is known to quite a few. However, only local people would know, and this individual clearly chased us from afar.

When we first arrived, we surely didn’t disclose our destination to others.

So his pursuit wasn’t for something within Mad Willow Forest, but for some other item.”

With Shaya’s prompt, Gu Xi also realized, ”I understand.”

”What?”

Gu Xi stood up, paced a circle, ”That bastard did it deliberately, only asking for ten Skull Flowers to lead me to kill the Death Giant Armor.

Since he knew who was behind the Death Giant Armor, and that person’s habit of leaving skulls as trophies.

Skull Flowers grow inside skulls.

If it were just one or two, they might have been stolen, but obtaining ten meant I killed the Death Giant Armor.

And what he’s after is the thing behind the Death Giant Armor, the corpse pinned by a longsword beside the pool.

No, the corpse isn’t the focus.

The longsword isn’t either.

The Reindeer Department has no relation to Leadership Skill.

So what he wants is the bell made from that skull.”

With a spark in his eyes, Gu Xi understood what the Black-robed Skeleton wanted.

Regarding the Black-robed Skeleton using his strategy to pave the way, Gu Xi wasn’t the least bit concerned.

This kind of affair was common, similar to task releases where no one would fully disclose their ultimate intentions to the task handler.

As everyone has their objectives and directions.

They release tasks merely for help in dealing with current troubles.

The rest needs no action from them.

Back then, Gu Xi himself used similar tactics against the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin, forcefully acquiring the orange ring.

Now encountering such a situation, he especially understood the Black-robed Skeleton’s mindset.

But understanding aside, sending people to attack Gu Xi didn’t sit well.

If he had openly stated his desires from the start, perhaps they could’ve discussed, and Gu Xi wouldn’t have been unwilling to part with it.

Now, having attacked Gu Xi, in Gu Xi’s eyes, they were adversaries.

With this realization, Gu Xi halted and turned to Shaya, saying, ”Shaya, go find out about a bell resembling a skull, and inquire about its use.

Also, see if anyone wants it, selling it to anyone as long as they aren’t aligned with the Black-robed Skeleton’s camp.”

Gu Xi’s thought was simple, whether this nuisance stemmed from the bell crafted from the skull or not.

He intended to use it as bait, allowing no one to cross him and walk away unscathed.
