Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 460: Chapter 458: News Gathered

After sleeping for about three hours, Gu Xi slowly opened his eyes.

The sweat on his body had dried up, and Gu Xi sat up, taking a look around at his surroundings.

Since Gu Xi had stationed a large force here, no one dared to come out and cause him trouble.

Gu Xi even noticed that the dark clouds in the sky had dispersed quite a bit; it seemed that until they were confident they could eliminate Gu Xi, the forces in this space were wary of him.

They had no intention of attacking him. It seemed that most people in this space were sensible; they knew Gu Xi was just here to learn.

As long as they didn’t provoke Gu Xi, once he learned what he wanted, he would soon leave.

So sending Gu Xi off was actually the best choice.

Anyone who went to cause trouble would probably soon die under Gu Xi’s Skeleton Sea.

Looking up at the sky, Gu Xi turned to his men and said, ”Leave a message for Shaya, tell her we’re going to do a task first, the Stone Golem, Bone Locusts, and Corpse Poison Fly will follow.

Oh well, let the Ghost Squad follow as well, the rest can go back.”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the Undead Corps that had gathered here quickly retreated back to Yalidu City.

At the same time, Gu Xi mounted the Evil Coffin and patted its lid.

”Let’s go complete the task.”

The Evil Coffin swiftly moved forward.

Because it was accompanied by the Stone Golem and other units, the Evil Coffin’s movement speed wasn’t very high.

It was about 90 kilometers per hour.

This speed, compared to what Gu Xi had felt before, was indeed much slower.

At this speed, the oncoming wind couldn’t force Gu Xi to close his eyes.

At that moment, Gu Xi suddenly noticed Shaya approaching quickly from a nearby tree.

Gu Xi waved at Shaya, ”I thought it would take you a long time. How is it? Did you find out anything?”

”Yes, I found a black market and a Divination Master’s hut, gathered some information.”

Shaya followed beside Gu Xi, running as she talked, and most notably, she could keep up with the Evil Coffin’s speed without even getting out of breath.

”What did you find out?”

”Some of the information you gathered earlier is true, but the Black-robed Skeleton you met before didn’t tell you everything.

Actually, this entire space is the original range of the Mysterious Academy.

It includes these mountains, forests, and the great lake; all are part of the Academy.

The Academy has four departments, each occupying a separate area, and students travel between schools and dormitories by train.

So the trains running back and forth between the mountains and the lake aren’t searching for the lost academy; they are set to operate like this.

In fact, within the four departments, there are four Basic Skills available for learning, though only the dean of each department can directly let someone learn them, while other professors can only teach different skills through various methods.

Because the Academy has lost itself in time and space, three of the deans who didn’t get lost with the Academy are in a half-sleep state.

However, various professors inside the Academy, due to various reasons, couldn’t fall asleep.

They use their own methods to protect the souls of the students.

But as far as the professors are concerned, there’s not much they can do. If one is willing to give them what they want, ensuring they can protect more students or keep them safe longer, they’ll provide corresponding benefits.”

Listening to Shaya’s explanation, Gu Xi nodded.

He had felt the same at Madam Sha’s place before; even rabbits and mice were reading in her library, indicating Madam Sha had no malicious intentions.

The information Shaya gathered seemed reasonable.

”Then why was I attacked when I came out from the Black-robed Skeleton?”

Gu Xi was still puzzled.

Though he didn’t want to get involved in the Mysterious Academy’s matters, there were some things he had to figure out.

He went to defeat the Death Giant Armor at the Black-robed Skeleton’s request for the Leadership Skill, regardless of the enemy.

That’s what players do.

Yet, coming out from the Black-robed Skeleton, he was ambushed—how can this be explained?

”I looked into that too, and it seemed you might have encountered a clash with the inner world of the Mysterious Academy at that time. In this Academy, some professors aren’t fixed to one place.

Some aren’t even there to protect students.

The one you encountered earlier should have been the inner world of the Forbidden Forest Guardian.

He’s responsible for protecting all magical creatures in the forest.

To protect them, he continuously moves through the woods, and when he encounters someone, that’s when such things happen, with animals he protects appearing in the real world.

There are reportedly at least three such instances: one deep in the lake, where a Ghost Ship annually returns students who died for various reasons back to their hidden world.

In the sky is one more instance, seen only when the west wind blows.

The last one, nobody knows its location or any pattern of appearance, but regardless of the inner world’s nature, their original purpose is to protect the students studying at the Academy.”

”Including petrifying students into statues?”

Gu Xi suddenly interjected.

Shaya didn’t know how to respond to that, finally acknowledging it.

”I guess so.”

Gu Xi shook his head, ceasing his probing of these matters, and asked, ”Any other new information?”

”Yes, I heard some gossip that the three remaining deans don’t have treasures anymore, but they still possess some abilities.

They have partial authority over the Academy.

Rumor has it that if they can gather all the scattered authority, they could rebuild an academy.

Then this new academy could replace the Mysterious Academy lost in time and space, occupying this space.

By using the professors and students here, they might form a small new academy.

Because of this, the three deans are wary of one another.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi thought seriously for a while.

”This has nothing to do with us. Once we complete our task and learn the skills, we’ll leave. Let them fight however they want; we’re not getting involved.

Getting involved in these things is no good, and we gain no benefit while offending people. This isn’t something we should do.”
