Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 493: Chapter 491: Secret Room Complete

Returning to the secret chamber, Gu Xi immediately saw that the Vampire who was originally supposed to guard the chamber was already lying in an ornate coffin.

This coffin seemed to have been taken from an ancient royal tomb, cast in precious gold, with every inch shimmering with dazzling brilliance.

Its interior was filled with a peculiar liquid.

This liquid appeared silver and translucent from the outside, yet when you gazed through it, a frightful deep red emerged.

The surface of the coffin was carved with ancient runes, which seemed to narrate a sealed history.

But what Gu Xi saw in these runes was Isabella’s protection over the coffin.

The Vampire was soaking in this liquid.

When Gu Xi approached the coffin, it opened its eyes, yet it did not crawl out.

The treasure chest hidden in the secret chamber was placed behind the coffin.

Gu Xi could distinctly feel that no matter how he approached the chest, he would first encounter the coffin.

In a setting with insufficient light, this ornate and ancient coffin would undoubtedly capture the attention of anyone entering the chamber.

Causing them to not immediately see the treasure chest behind the coffin.

Gu Xi walked up to the chest, reached out and touched it, but did not open it.

Gu Xi knew very well that if he opened the chest, the secret chamber would be half useless.

He had come to leave behind evidence that the chamber belonged to him, not to destroy it.

Picking up the chest, Gu Xi quickly withdrew the outer shell of the Bloody Treasure Chest and encased the chest in front of him.

Then Gu Xi pushed the chest forward, shoving it into the coffin’s shadow.

After completing all this, Gu Xi then took out the key given by Calimduo and placed it on the lid of the Bloody Treasure Chest.

Then Gu Xi, as taught by the three old men, murmured a spell and a request in a low voice.

Under Gu Xi’s spell, the secret chamber transformed once again.

The secret chamber now appeared more ancient, with some murals appearing around the walls, depicting the story of Isabella and her husband.

As to whether the story inside was accurate, Gu Xi didn’t paint it so meticulously.

The reason Gu Xi depicted this was not for Isabella’s love.

But to make some of the rules of this secret chamber more reasonable.

In this secret chamber, no matter how battles transpired, all the blood would be absorbed by the treasure chest behind the coffin.

No other blood would remain in the chamber.

Moreover, under the spell this time, the secret chamber also acquired a new name, called ”Between the Bloodless.”

At the same time, matters concerning the Bloody Treasure Chest were also settled under this spell.

This secret chamber now had a new rule.

Although this rule has not yet been recognized by the academy.

But as long as Gu Xi holds the key and can take the position of department head, when the academy is rebuilt, the secret chamber will be prioritized for activation.

This was something that Calimduo and the others could not have anticipated.

They had no idea that Gu Xi would be aware of the chamber’s existence, let alone acquire the spell to unlock and lock the chamber.

They still thought Gu Xi was just a newcomer in the Mysterious Academy, clueless about anything.

Even if they gave Gu Xi a department head task, he couldn’t find suitable candidates to act as professors or faculty members within the department.

Let alone make more arrangements within the department.

In Calimduo’s view, making Gu Xi the department head was merely a token title.

They hadn’t invested anything else at all.

Instead, when the new department was established, they could openly demand resources from Gu Xi, after all, who else but the department head of the new department would foot the bill.

But the current Gu Xi has already surpassed Calimduo’s imagination.

Rapidly mastering authority within the academy.

With the arrangements in the secret chamber completed.

Gu Xi then left the chamber.

After closing the chamber door, Gu Xi handed the small knife that could unlock the chamber to Isabella.

”This is the key to access the secret chamber; from now on, the chamber’s protection will rely on you.”

Isabella accepted the small knife and placed it in the Blood Chalice she held.

Then she said to Gu Xi, ”Rest assured, my lord, as long as I live, no outsider will enter the chamber.”

Gu Xi was willing to believe Isabella’s words.

He nodded towards Isabella and was about to leave when she asked, ”My lord, I have fairly good connections within the academy. Would you like me to introduce some people to you?”

”No need, I hold a bit of influence among the Undead.”

Gu Xi had some trust in his Death Lord skills.

As long as he didn’t encounter followers of Naviduo, most of the Undead in the academy were a neutral force to Gu Xi.

As long as Gu Xi was willing to speak, most people could be recruited.

”No, my lord, the ones I want to introduce aren’t those staff members who disappeared with the academy and turned into Undead.”

They each have their own authority and even as Undead, they protected many students.

Because of this, they will have a place in the new academy.

But the ones I want to introduce are different.

Mr. Gu must know that I’ve been in this academy for many years.

Throughout these years, many staff members have died.

The reasons for their deaths are varied; some were removed from the academy post-mortem, and some were buried within the academy.

The deceased staff members don’t have the duty to protect students, but due to the academy’s disappearance, the academy’s space has seen a surge in the Aura of Death, turning them into Undead.

If Mr. Gu is willing, I can introduce them to you.

These people might be able to help you seize more positions.”

Listening to Isabella’s words, Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask.

”How many of them are there?”

”I don’t know. Many faculty members die each year. Who knows how many are buried deep within the academy, and they are also shunned by official staff members, leading to conflicts among themselves, so I can’t determine their numbers.

However, I have their usual gathering places.

Because I haven’t harmed them and even helped treat them occasionally, they don’t guard against me.”

As Isabella spoke, she began drawing on a map.

Gu Xi glanced at the map and found that there were quite a few gathering points for these Undead, but they were all in more remote areas.

It seems these Undead are well aware of their unwelcome status, and are trying hard to reduce their presence.
