”Go down and take a look.”

Although he decided to retrieve the sword, Gu Xi didn’t rush over. He pointed to the pool, and the Death Incarnation dove in.

As one of the Death Three Divine Skills, the Death Incarnation is never afraid of various forms of pollution.

For such uncertain waters, naturally, the Death Incarnation goes down first to investigate.

After jumping into the water, the surface of the Death Incarnation’s body quickly appeared covered in substances resembling brass rust.

However, the Death Incarnation did not show much resistance, it was evident these rust-like substances had a different effect on him.

After making a round under the water and not finding any enemies, the Death Incarnation just soaked in the water.

Gu Xi also knew that the Death Incarnation was absorbing external power.

Thinking about it, the Death Incarnation stayed at Level 12 without being able to advance, following him because of his own level lock.

He felt a bit guilty.

Now that the Death Incarnation had an opportunity to strengthen itself, naturally, Gu Xi wouldn’t disturb him.

He circled around the pool, came to the other end, and reached out to pull out the longsword.

At the moment of contact with the longsword, Gu Xi felt a surge of Sword Qi slicing his hand.

Gu Xi quickly withdrew his hand, but his action was still a step slow; his right hand was cut open, and his palm was severed.

”Damn it!”

Gu Xi immediately pressed his wrist while the Demon’s Right Hand grabbed the severed palm and quickly reattached it for him.

Without much thought, Gu Xi quickly ran to the back of the Evil Coffin, kicked hard, and raised the medical tent that had been dragging behind it while cradling the severed palm.

A medical tent like this was originally used for treating Gu Xi’s soldiers.

Regardless of whether living or undead, their functions were the same.

Unexpectedly, the first to be treated by the medical tent Gu Xi had been carrying around for so long was himself.

Under the function of the medical tent, Gu Xi’s severed hand was reattached. Although it was not as flexible at present, it would return to its original dexterity after a day or two.

After successfully reattaching his hand, Gu Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He was somewhat afraid of losing his palm, though the Demon’s Right Hand could assist with certain tasks, it was not as handy as his own hand.

Now, with his hand reattached, Gu Xi remembered the information that popped up when he touched the longsword.

[You contacted Danares’ Sword, you were attacked by Danares’ Sword, Life decreased by 60!]

[Danares’ Sword (Gray): In his student years, Academy Professor Danares came into contact with the Sword of Leadership, and gained its approval. In the days that followed, he diligently practiced swordsmanship and successfully cast a highly imitative longsword of the Sword of Leadership.

During a dispute, he used this sword to kill his greatest enemy, and his head became a collection of that enemy.]

Looking at the detailed description of Danares’ Sword, Gu Xi’s eyes slightly narrowed.

He was recalling the circumstances of the battle with the Death Giant Armor.

He hadn’t seen any visible damages on the Death Giant Armor.

With a face full of confusion, Gu Xi walked out of the medical tent.

At this moment, the Death Incarnation had absorbed almost all the dark green substance from the pool.

The formerly brass-colored bones were covered with blue-green rust.

At the spine position of the Death Incarnation, a layer of dark green crystal had grown.

When the Death Incarnation flew up, its movement became somewhat slow, but clearly, the Death Incarnation gained enhancement this time.

Its size noticeably increased by about a meter, and its bones visibly thickened.

When flying up from the pool, Gu Xi noticed that the originally dark green pool water had become clear and transparent, and standing at the edge, you could even see piles of bone fragments at the bottom.

Under normal circumstances, Gu Xi would surely collect these bones, even if unable to summon them into the Undead Corps, they could still be incorporated into Yalidov City, becoming souls of the city.

But the current Gu Xi paid no attention to these.

He discovered the Danares’ Sword, which had just injured him, was stuck in the pool wall, below which lay a stone corpse.

Because the corpse had soaked in the pool for so long, its facial features were already blurred.

The only certainty was that the corpse belonged to a male mage, who even in death still tightly clasped his two weapons in his hands.

A short magic staff slightly longer than chopsticks, and a bell-like object resembling a human head.

By now, these two items were likely integrated with the corpse.

Gu Xi understood why Danares’ Sword reacted the way it did at this moment.

The sword probably had gained consciousness and had been suppressing the corpse all along.

Previously, the Death Giant Armor might have been a subordinate controlled by this corpse.

Just like Gu Xi’s Contracted Undead.

Even when the master is dead, it protects this place.

After identifying the root of the problem, Gu Xi immediately knew how to resolve it.

If unable to pull out Danares’ Sword, then bring the sword and everything nearby back.

Earlier, he approached Danares’ Sword, yet did not receive an attack from the Sword Qi, indicating that the sword did not behave randomly, but attacked only when an attempt to draw it was made.

That is to say, Danares’ Sword is conscious, but not excessively.

If he couldn’t take the sword, then taking the petrified corpse along would suffice.

Gu Xi swiftly released the Steel City Gate and issued an order through it.

”Summon a squad of zombies.”

Following Gu Xi’s command, a Zombie Boss led a squad of zombies and charged out.

None of the Undead Bosses have their own names.

However, Anna considerately recorded their characteristics and labeled them with a number.

This was even simpler than Gu Xi’s original Combat Squad 1, starting directly from 001 in sequence.

If any died in battle, the number wouldn’t increment. New undead bosses would receive new numbers.

The key was to assign one number per undead boss.

The current Zombie Boss, numbered 063, held a great axe and looked at Gu Xi upon emergence.

Gu Xi was straightforward and directed this squad toward where the longsword was embedded, marking a line around five meters away from Danares’ Sword.

”All of you, come here. From here, start digging and transport everything back to Yalidov City for me.”
