I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 497, It Is Completely Worth It

Translator: Silavin

On a street not far from the Yong’an Building, a barbecue shop had quietly opened.

The houses in the Flame Dragon Tribe were now planned in this way: the second floor was used for living, while the ground floor was entirely for setting up shops.

However, almost no shops had been established yet, so people were still living there.

But whenever a shop opened, the ground floor would be cleared out for the business.

The barbecue shop was on the ground floor of the first house on this street, and the space was quite large. Above the entrance hung a conspicuous signboard with three large characters ‘烤肉店’, which means barbecue shop.

At this moment, the entrance to the barbecue shop was already packed with people, with more queuing continuously.

Originally, people did not queue, but after stern reprimands from the shop owner, the others began to queue obediently.

The shop owner said that if they did not queue properly, they would not be allowed to enter the shop, and the order of entry would be the order of the queue.

If anyone caused trouble, they would never eat roast meat, and in severe cases, they might be expelled from the Flame Dragon Tribe.

So, no one dared to cause trouble casually, and everyone queued obediently. Of course, not the entire Tribe was queuing; many people were watching from the sidelines.

This created the scene of crowds just now, with people squeezing everywhere.

“Those who want to enter the barbecue shop must do double the labour today,” the shop owner shouted at the entrance.

After all, in this Primitive Era without currency, this was the only way to collect payment.

“If you don’t want to work so hard, you can bring items to exchange,” the barbecue shop owner continued.

Besides labour, they could accept some items, such as unusual Beast Hides or attractive Beast Teeth, and so on.

Or some other odd items, because some people had married into the Tribe from other Tribes and naturally brought different things with them.

Although these items were not particularly useful, they could make up for it in quantity.

The queuing people all began to get restless, eagerly anticipating entering the barbecue shop.

Some people had prepared items for exchange, both hands full of things, their mood especially excited as they discussed amongst themselves.

“I never expected the Shaman would open this place called… called a barbecue shop in the Tribe.”

“Yes, the smell coming from inside is so fragrant. It must be delicious.”

“The aroma is the most pleasant I’ve smelled so far. I wonder what it’s like.”

“Will it taste better than the roast meat we’ve had before? With so many people here, I don’t know how long we’ll have to queue.”

All kinds of discussions could be heard, but everyone’s eyes were fixed on one place: inside the barbecue shop.

The decorations inside the shop were simple, with several tables placed around. A large hole had been dug in the middle of each table.

A large stone pot was placed in the hole, filled with many glowing red charcoal. A thin stone slab was placed on top of the pot, which was used for roasting meat.

Apart from tables and chairs, there were no other decorations, although it looked clean and tidy.

*Step step step…*

The barbecue shop owner arranged things at the entrance for quite a while, then had the waiters start letting people in.

This barbecue shop had also solved employment problems for many people, as working here was a long-term position. The shop owner had been selected by the Chieftain, who knew the Tribe’s people well and knew who could handle this position.

Gradually, the people at the entrance entered the shop one after another and began to eat.

*Sizzle sizzle…*

The sound of meat placed on the stone slab was irresistible, and the strong aroma was especially enticing after adding seasonings.

It was the first time these people had tasted roast meat with seasonings. Previously, they rarely even had salt with their roast meat, and now they could eat roast meat with seasonings. The expressions on their faces were undoubtedly joyful.

After each person took a bite of the roast meat, they praised it continuously, so delicious they could barely keep their eyes open.

“This roast meat is too delicious, even better than what we’ve had before.”

“Yes, I thought it would be similar to the salted meat we had before, but this is a completely new flavour.”

“I really love this taste. I could eat this every day. I could keep eating forever.”

“You’re dreaming. Who wouldn’t want to eat this every day? But after eating this roast meat, I’m willing to do double the labour.”

“It turns out queuing for so long is completely worth it. This meat is really too delicious.”

“…”

Praise echoed throughout the barbecue shop; everyone who had tasted the meat was full of compliments.

And everyone ate a lot. Of course, the more they ate, the more work they needed to do; the more they ate, the more items they needed to exchange.

But those people simply could not help themselves, finishing one portion after another, completely disregarding the extra work required.

*Step step step…* People came and went endlessly in the barbecue shop. As one batch left, another arrived, with a constant stream of people queuing outside.

Those who had been watching from the sidelines, after hearing the praise from those who had eaten, could not help but start queuing as well.

Time continued until dusk, and the queuing crowd had not diminished at all.

The people inside the barbecue shop were very busy, constantly adding charcoal, slicing meat, and preparing seasonings.

“I never expected so many people would come. Initially I thought no one would,” the shop owner muttered.

At first, when he heard about opening a barbecue shop, he was confused, not understanding why they would open such a thing.

So initially he wasn’t optimistic, but unexpectedly, it turned out to be tremendously popular.

“Looks like we’ll be busy until very late, but today’s harvest has been quite good,” the shop owner said to himself.

The shop had received many good items today, things he had never seen before.

If not for this barbecue shop, those people probably would never have brought out these good items.

“If we continue to stay open, we might get even better items,” the shop owner thought.

*Step step step…*

The shop owner stood at the entrance watching people come and go. He did not need to call out; the people very conscientiously began to queue.

Because those who had eaten the roast meat spread the word, so when others arrived, they were also very well-behaved.

At first, they were skeptical, but after smelling the aroma at the entrance, they were completely won over.
