I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 490, Winning Favour

The weather was becoming increasingly cool, much cooler than before. Now one needed to wear more clothes not only during the day and night but at midday as well.

Previously, midday still had the hot Sun, but now it was completely gone, replaced by cool breezes. If one stayed outdoors for too long, one would involuntarily sneeze. The snow season was approaching rapidly.

Su Bai stood at the floor-to-ceiling window, observing the changes outside the Tribe. The originally emerald green leaves had begun to turn yellow. Previously, looking out, everything was a lush green, but now looking over, everything was a brilliant gold.

He was now preparing to visit the greenhouse to check on the plants he had previously used Growth Acceleration Skill on, which were almost ready for harvest.

*Step step step…* Su Bai stepped out of Yong’an Building, bringing the girls along as they walked towards the wooden shed.

After more than half an hour, everyone arrived outside the Tribe. Looking around, one could see patches of green. Of course, these green patches did not refer to the forest, but rather the crops planted in the soil outside the Tribe entrance.

Those were cabbages. The seeds that had been previously prepared were all planted, and now they had developed very well.

“Shaman, these cabbages look so big now. Can we eat them?” Yan Hua asked. She saw those white and green cabbages, and her appetite was immediately stimulated.

“They’re ready for harvest. We can eat cabbage tonight,” Su Bai said with a smile.

Suddenly seeing this ground full of white cabbages, his mood also improved. He roughly counted the number of cabbages, about seventy or eighty in total. The spacious field was also planted with other crops, including the previous tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and potatoes.

These crops were also ready for harvest. Each red tomato also looked appetising. The green shoots of those potatoes and sweet potatoes also looked fresh, forming a stark contrast with the yellowing forest not far away.

“The tomatoes are also ready for harvest. We can have scrambled eggs with tomatoes tonight,” Yu Ying said with a beaming smile.

Yu Ying was also very happy seeing this scene, after all, she personally tended to these crops every day.

Although many others helped tend to these crops, Yu Ying was still concerned and wanted to check personally.

“Shaman, can we collect the potatoes we planted earlier?” Yan Hua asked curiously.

Yan Hua  was still thinking about those potatoes, after all, when they were planted, it was said that this crop was very delicious.

“We can start digging them up. Have someone bring tools to dig. It will definitely be a bountiful harvest,” Su Bai nodded.

“Dig?” Yan Hua blinked her red eyes in confusion.

“Yes, the green leaves on top are not needed. Just dig out the potatoes below,” Su Bai nodded.

Yan Hua nodded thoughtfully and said, “Shaman, can I start digging now?”

“Of course,” Su Bai said softly.

“Shaman, I’ve already brought the tools. Can we try digging first?” Yu Ying immediately took out the small hoes she had prepared.

Those small hoes were very small in size, just right for the girls to hold, not at all heavy or cumbersome.

“Go ahead and dig, but be careful not to damage the potatoes with the hoe,” Su Bai cautioned.

He did not want them to dig recklessly and end up poking holes in all the potatoes.

“Okay,” Yan Hua took the small hoe and was already a bit impatient, seemingly not having heard the latter part of his words. She took the small hoe and happily went to the potato plants, squatting down to start digging potatoes.

A hoe dug down high, and after turning the soil, it was full of potatoes. Whether it was her great luck or her good technique, this hoe stroke did not harm any potatoes.

The others also followed suit and began to squat down to dig potatoes.

However, they were not as lucky as Yan Hua. Most of the potatoes they dug out were ‘damaged’. They either had their skins scraped or were directly split in half.

“Hahaha, you all don’t seem to know how to do it. I’ll teach you, look.” Yan Hua laughed loudly.

Seeing the messy appearance of the potatoes dug out by the others, she could not help but laugh.

“How did you dig them? Why are the potatoes you dug out so perfect?” Sha Lan asked curiously.

“Don’t rush. First, press down the potato leaves to expose the bottom, then dig at a spot further away. Don’t get too close, or your hoe will definitely scrape those potatoes,” Yan Hua explained.

As she explained to everyone, she personally demonstrated the technique. The potatoes she dug out were again perfect, with no damage to any potato.

“It really works!” Yu Ying widened her pink eyes and began to learn.

The others also started learning, and the potatoes they dug out were indeed much better than before.

Gradually, the potatoes they dug out were all very perfect, but after digging for a while, they became a bit tired.

“Let’s go pick tomatoes. Those tomatoes are all so red.” Yu Ying suggested as she stood up.

“Yeah, I also like tomatoes. I’ll go pick them!” Yan Hua immediately stood up.

She put down the small hoe in her hand, patted the soil off her hands, and walked straight towards the tomatoes.

*Plop! Plop…*

Amid the crisp sounds of tomatoes being picked, in the blink of an eye, those bright red tomatoes were all picked.

“There seem to be many tomatoes. Shaman, but we can’t eat all these tomatoes at once. Should we distribute some?” Yu Ying asked worriedly.

“It’s fine. If we can’t finish them, we can make tomato sauce.” Su Bai smiled.

“Tomato sauce? Another sauce?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

Recently, she had seen the Tribe making new things, all related to sauce.

“Sort of. This will taste sweet and sour. It is very delicious.” Su Bai explained. He had not had tomato sauce for some time, and there were many foods that could be made with tomato sauce.

“Then I’ll collect all of them, wash them clean, and place them in the Yong’an Building,” Yu Ying said.

“Oh, distribute some to the Chieftain, Cang Shi and the others.” Su Bai nodded.

Recently, the crops grown in the greenhouse and fields were not enough to feed everyone in the Tribe, so they could only select some people to distribute to.

“I understand. I will deliver some to each person.” Yu Ying’s soft voice sounded.

Yu Ying was very good at this. Each time, she distributed things in the name of the Shaman, it helped the Shaman win more favour.
