I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 455, Brainwashing

Translator: Silavin

In a dense primitive forest, a group of people was marching grandly through the greenery.

Leading this group was Qing Yan from the Flame Dragon Tribe. They had already completed their trades in the Spotted Deer Market and were now preparing to return to their Tribe.

Besides the original few Warrior Trainees and Totem Warriors, there were many others following behind.

This time, there were more than three hundred people following behind them, all of whom had been moved at the Spotted Deer Market.

After hearing Xi Guo and others speak, they all wanted to visit the Flame Dragon Tribe to see if it was truly as good as they described. In any case, they were not prominent in their original Tribes, being neither Totem Warriors nor Warrior Trainees.

The reason they had come to the Spotted Deer Tribe this time was solely because they followed people from their Tribes.

Originally, those Tribe members would not bring ordinary people out because firstly, they were a burden and could not help much, and secondly, they would need protection during the journey to prevent attacks from Ferocious Beasts. Therefore, all those who went to the Spotted Deer Tribe were Warriors, while these people had secretly followed them.

They had all followed behind the Warriors heading to the Spotted Deer Tribe. Besides wanting to see if they could find other suitable Tribes along the way, they also wanted to find more food to fill their stomachs.

This was because the amount of food they received in the Tribe was very little. Tribes operated on the principle that only those that work earned the right to food.

Since they had little work to do normally, and without work, they had no food.

“All of you need to keep up and not get lost.” Qing Yan shouted from the front.

He had never imagined that so many people would follow him back to the Flame Dragon Tribe. Originally, he thought having a few dozen people would be good, but unexpectedly, there were more than three hundred.

This number was not small; it was quite substantial and could even be considered a Small Tribe.

“Yes!” More than three hundred people responded in unison.

Even without being told, they would follow closely, fearing they might be abandoned midway.

If they were abandoned midway, they would only have death awaiting them, because the distance back to the Spotted Deer Tribe was considerable, and returning to their own Tribes was even further.

So, even without being told, they would stick to them like leeches, impossible to shake off no matter what. They followed closely behind, occasionally whispering among themselves, each discussing various matters.

“Do you think the Flame Dragon Tribe is really as good as they say?” Someone in the crowd asked.

“Who knows? We’ve already followed them all the way here. Even if it’s not good, what can we do?” another person responded.

“That’s true. Once we reach the Flame Dragon Tribe, it would be too far to return to our own Tribes. I just hope the Flame Dragon Tribe is truly as good as they say.” another person hoped.

“I think it can’t be too bad. After all, their Tribe produces such good items. I believe their Tribe must be a good one.” another person confidently affirmed.

“I also think what you said makes sense. Haven’t you heard? Almost everyone in their Tribe has ceramics, and everyone has work. With work, we won’t go hungry,” someone immediately agreed.

“This is the most important thing. Having work is the greatest security for us. I don’t want to go through those days of hunger again…” Someone recalled their previous days.

“That’s right, filling our stomachs is the most urgent matter. Whether we have ceramics or not can be discussed later.” Some people already had this mindset.

“Even if it’s not as they described, with three meals a day, at least two meals would be good.” Someone said optimistically.

They thought the worst-case scenario would be having no ceramics and not getting three meals a day, but having something to eat would be good.

In any case, returning to their own Tribes would be the same, with at most one meal a day. So, if they reached the Flame Dragon Tribe and found they had been deceived, it would not be too bad; they would just be reverting to their previous state.

Walking in front, Qing Yan heard the conversations behind him and quietly asked. “Didn’t you exaggerate too much?”

He felt that those people seemed to have extremely high expectations, as if they had been brainwashed.

Xi Guo shrugged his shoulders and said nonchalantly, “I just told the truth.”

“Really? You really didn’t say anything else?” Qing Yan looked at him with a scepticism.

“I just… just stretched out the benefits a little, that’s all,” Xi Guo waved his hand, indicating that Qing Yan should not pay too much attention to these minor details.

“What did you say?” Qing Yan asked. After all, he needed to know more or less. What if they reached the Tribe and were accidentally exposed?

If this was not handled well, it would be difficult to recruit more people to the Tribe next time. After all, the Shaman had always planned to recruit more people back to the Tribe, and they could not ruin their reputation because of time.

“I just said that once they go to the Flame Dragon Tribe, everyone can have ceramics,” Xi Guo blinked.

In any case, he felt he was not wrong; it was not that they would have them immediately, but they would eventually get them. As for when, that was unknown.

“Saying this to them is misleading. What if they don’t see any ceramics when they reach the Tribe?” Qing Yan’s tone became serious.

“I didn’t say they would have them immediately. And I said to obtain ceramics, one must become a member of the Flame Dragon Tribe for a long time. That’s what the Shaman said…” Xi Guo pouted.

“The Shaman said that? When? Why don’t I know about this?” Qing Yan asked, puzzled.

“You were counting the amount of linen at that time and weren’t around, so the Shaman told me. Anyway, I’m the one leading this plan, so it’s normal that you don’t know.” Xi Guo said.

At that time, Su Bai had instructed him that as long as they were willing to come to the Flame Dragon Tribe and stay for at least a year, each person would be given a ceramic.

“So that’s how it is. As long as it’s not a lie, that’s good,” Qing Yan sighed in relief.

This way, those people would not feel like they have been deceived, which would undoubtedly lead to conflict.

“How could I mess around? I will follow the Shaman’s instructions to the letter,” Xi Guo placed his hands behind his head and walked leisurely.

The recruitment mission assigned to him for the first time was successfully completed, and the number of people exceeded his expectations, making it hard not to be happy.

Originally, everyone thought that this recruitment would bring in about a hundred people, but unexpectedly, it had more than doubled.

“Don’t speak so loudly,” Qing Yan could do nothing about him.
