I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 494, Removing Dissidents

Looking out, numerous cement houses had sprung up within the Flame Dragon Tribe, far more than before.

Previously, the Tribe had only a dozen or so cement houses, but now there were several dozen, with the number increasing several times over.

Su Bai stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at this scene with satisfaction, muttering to himself. “The Tribe can finally properly pass through the snow season.”

The cement houses in the Tribe were extremely orderly, with their staggered positions quite systematic, unlike the previous crooked wooden houses.

Yesterday was the final completion date for the cement houses, and the people of the Tribe had thoroughly cleaned these cement houses inside and out.

Unlike the newly constructed cement houses before, which had dirty exteriors, now only the colour of cement remained on the background.

“Shaman, it looks truly beautiful this way,” Yu Ying also stood by the floor-to-ceiling window.

Yu Ying was moved by the neat cement houses outside. Looking out, each building was staggered in its proper position, and those cement roads also ‘charged straight ahead’ through the gaps between houses.

Now the Flame Dragon Tribe indeed had the feeling of a ‘city’ from Earth, with mature roads, orderly houses, and many people in the Tribe.

This was the first time she had seen the Tribe like this. When the cement houses were still being built, she didn’t feel much, but now that they were successfully established, she was amazed.

“Let’s build more cement houses after the snow season passes,” Su Bai said with a slight smile.

He was not satisfied with the current number; he wanted the entire Tribe to be filled with cement houses everywhere.

But now, two-fifths of the Tribe still had no cement houses, and those places were still full of wooden houses.

Many people in the Tribe still could not live in cement houses, and the snow season would still be difficult to endure.

“Yes, yes, Shaman, aren’t we going to build city walls later? What about those?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

“We’ll see if the Tribe can have more people by then. If we can get more people, we’ll build city walls, but that’s a matter for spring…” Su Bai calmly said.

It was not that he did not want to build city walls immediately, but currently, the Tribe was short of manpower, and there simply were not enough spare hands to build the city walls. The only thing to solve now was housing, so most people were building cement houses and cement roads.

“Shaman, won’t those who can’t get cement houses get angry?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

Because yesterday, many people were allocated to live in cement houses, but many others were not.

Those who were not allocated still lived in their previous wooden houses, and they would surely harbour resentment for not being able to get cement houses.

After all, who wouldn’t want to be allocated a cement house? Who wouldn’t want to live in these novel cement houses?

When the Tribe was digging foundations and transporting stones to build cement houses, those people had been watching with wide eyes.

“This can’t be helped. The allocation of cement houses is based on seniority in the Tribe. Since they aren’t old members of the Tribe, they can’t live in the cement houses for now.”

Su Bai took a sip of water and continued: “However, by spring next year, they will also be able to live in cement houses, so there’s nothing worth getting upset about.”

“That makes sense, but I don’t think they’ll see it that way?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

Yu Ying still did not want people in the Tribe to have any negative thoughts about the Shaman, after all, he was working hard for the Tribe’s development.

She would not want to see him being resented; and dislike dealing with such ungrateful people.

“They won’t. When Ah’Lan told me about this yesterday, she also mentioned this issue. Those people, though showing some disappointment on their faces, did not act out and just calmly accepted it.” Su Bai said calmly.

This was why he was so calm. He thought that if the people of the Tribe became aggressive over this matter, then there was no need to treat them too well.

After all, he was wholeheartedly developing this Tribe, and everything he did was to help the people of the Tribe live better lives. It was just that he could not let everyone enjoy the good life at the same time.

But it would not take long before everyone could be the same, so fundamentally, there was not much of a difference.

So, if those people caused trouble or harboured dissatisfaction at this time, he would reconsider these people.

Although the Tribe needed manpower, it was better not to have people whose hearts were not with the Flame Dragon Tribe. Judging from the current development of the Flame Dragon Tribe, more people would want to join the Flame Dragon Tribe at any time. The Flame Dragon Tribe need not worry about not having people come by spring, so those who raise objections to his arrangements could be driven away.

“That’s good. I was worried that two camps might form.” Yu Ying expressed her concern.

After all, once the cement houses were built, they formed a stark contrast with those low wooden houses.

Most of these cement houses were located in the central position of the Tribe, while those wooden houses were surrounding these cement houses.

This scene looked like Stars surrounding the Moon, except here the moon was the cement houses.

With a comparison between good and not good, people’s attitudes would differ, so two groups would form.

People living in cement houses would seem more privileged and superior, while those living in wooden houses would seem more humble, feeling as if their status was not as high as those living in cement houses.

But in reality, the status of both sides was the same; there was no hierarchy of who was high and who was low. It was just the environment creating this psychological comparison.

“Hmm, I’ve considered what you said. Ask Ah’Lan to come over for a bit. I want to see who’s living in the wooden houses outside.” Su Bai frowned.

After hearing what Yu Ying said, he thought she had a point. If people living in wooden houses outside harboured ill intentions, it would be negative for the Tribe’s development.

“Yes.” Yu Ying nodded and stepped out of Yong’an Building, running to the training ground to find the cat eared girl.

*Step step step…*

Half an hour later, Sha Lan came to the second-floor living room of the Yong’an Building and asked, “Shaman, did you want to see me?”

“Do you know the people who can’t live in cement houses and can only live in wooden houses?” Su Bai asked.

“I know most of them. When we were registering their IDs, I took a brief look.” Sha Lan said seriously.

“I need you to handle some matters for me. Investigate the people living in wooden houses. I want those who are dedicated to the Flame Dragon Tribe; you know what to do with the others,” Su Bai said emphatically.

“I understand,” Sha Lan’s clever mind knew exactly what he meant.
