I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 484, So Many Items Can Only Be Exchanged for One?

Translator: Silavin

“No, that is too little.” Kuang immediately shook his head.

Although he did not know what ceramic was, hearing such an exchange rate certainly made him unwilling.

Kai blocked him and shook his head, saying. “You know nothing about this, just leave it to us.”

He understood Kuang’s feelings, but after all, the other party know nothing, so it was better for him not to speak. If the exchange failed because of his words, they would certainly be scolded when they returned.

Kuang frowned but did not speak again. After all, his orders were just to protect these kids. As for negotiating cooperation, he had never participated in one, so he really did not have much say.

He simply could not help himself from commenting just now because he heard that the exchange conditions were too harsh.

“Chieftain, could we add a bit more? Can one seed be exchanged for two pieces of ceramic?” Kai still wanted to negotiate further.

“Hmm? If you think it’s too little, then let’s not exchange. Many people want to trade with me.” Yan Jiao shook his head.

He unhesitatingly pushed the small package back, now wanting to appear very determined. After all, they now held the dominant position. Ceramics was what the other party wanted, and he could not appear too eager for these crop seeds, otherwise he would be in a passive situation.

After pushing the items back, he prepared to stand up and leave. At this moment, he could not hesitate; he had to make the other party feel he was very busy, so that they could take it or leave it.

“Chieftain, wait, I accept your conditions. One seed plus two bags of dried meat in exchange for one piece of ceramic.” Kai immediately said.

Although he felt this was a bit expensive, after careful consideration, he realised he was not really losing out. Those seeds might not even successfully grow.

Furthermore, that amount of dried meat was a small matter for their Tribe, as the entire Tribe had many stocks. The dried meat they brought this time was insignificant to what they had stockpiled, so it was worth it upon reflection.

“You’re more straightforward. Then we’ll exchange items as agreed.” Yan Jiao said.

“Chieftain, can we choose for ourselves?” Kai asked.

“Choose for yourselves? The items are all the same, what’s there to choose?” Yan Jiao asked in confusion.

Kai heard this and was stunned, asking puzzledly. “Chieftain? But I see there are many different kinds. Can’t we choose those?”

Yan Jiao looked in the direction the other pointed, saw those relatively large pieces of ceramic, and shook his head. “These won’t do. Otherwise, all your items can only be exchanged for one.”

Kai was pointing at some ceramic vases, or ceramic jars and ceramic basins. Those were not only larger in area but also looked better.

“All our items can only be exchanged for one?” Kai asked in shock.

“Yes, all your items here can only be exchanged for one of those, or be divided as we just discussed. You decide how you want to choose if you want something that big.” Yan Jiao said with an unchanged expression.

This was a decision he made on the spot because he had heard from Qing Yan and others that ceramics were very popular in the Spotted Deer Tribe, even a single bowl could be exchanged for two bags of dried meat.

Kai was stunned for a moment, finding it different from what he had imagined. He had thought they could choose freely, but did not expect those ceramic pieces to be even more expensive than he had thought.

However, after carefully looking at those ceramic pieces, he also felt this was reasonable. After all, those ceramic pieces were so large, they were indeed worth that much.

Kai sighed and said. “Then I’ll exchange for those small ones first, and come back for the larger ones later.”

He was somewhat reluctant to part with those large ceramic pieces. If he could bring one back, he would definitely be praised.

“Alright, there are a total of ten seeds here, and you’ve brought twenty bags of dried meat, so you can take nine ceramic bowls.” Yan Jiao’s steady voice sounded.

“Hmm?” Kai frowned and asked puzzledly: “Chieftain, shouldn’t it be ten?”

“It seems your memory is very poor,” Yan Jiao’s face showed little expression.

Kai turned his blue eyes, and suddenly realised, repeatedly apologising: “Chieftain, that’s not what I meant. I just momentarily forgot.”

He immediately remembered the ceramic bowl they had taken back before and suddenly became a bit afraid.

“If you’re sure about nine, I’ll have someone bring them to you.” Yan Jiao solemnly asked.

Kai nodded without hesitation, immediately responding: “Yes, that number is correct.”

“En.” Yan Jiao took the Sweet Grain Seeds and left, leaving the arrangements to others.

Kai breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the Chieftain leave. That expression just now had really given him a big scare. He took a deep breath and said, “We need to be more careful this time, as the quantity we are bringing back is a lot more than last time.”

“With us here, there won’t be any problems,” Kuang said with solemn eyes. Now, his main task was to escort these ceramic pieces back. In the eyes of the Giant Bear Tribe, these ceramic pieces were of extreme importance.

“You really said the wrong thing just now.” Li sternly warned.

She had seen the other party’s expression. Although she stood behind, she still immediately felt a chill coming over.

Indeed, as the Chieftain of a Tribe, just his silent presence gave others a very different feeling.

“I know, so I will immediately correct myself.” Kai was unwilling to recall what had just happened.

“So, what do we do now? Go back? But it’s already dark.” Luo worried.

“We’ll definitely stay here for the night. They won’t refuse to let us stay.” Lan said, exasperated.

During the previous rainy season, they had stayed for over a month, let alone just one night today.

“It’s good to stay here. I must eat a lot of food.” Luo patted his small belly.

“Don’t eat randomly. Before, they gave us food because they sheltered us, but this time we’ve come to exchange items. They have no obligation to give us food,” Kai said seriously.

“Alright, I understand. Then we can only eat the food we brought,” Luo was clearly a bit disappointed.

He had originally thought he could eat the Flame Dragon Tribe’s food this time, but in the end, they still had to eat their own food.

“If you want, you can exchange our food with theirs, but it depends on whether they’re willing,” Li said.

“Really? Can we really do that?” Luo’s small eyes immediately widened.

“I don’t know about that. But their food is already prepared, while our food hasn’t been roasted yet. I guess we’d need to use a lot of our food to exchange for a little of theirs,” Li analysed.

“Then forget it. It’s not worth it.” Luo said disappointedly.
