I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 477, Not for Humans?

Translator: Silavin

Under the clear sky, three hot air balloons floated, beginning to slowly descend towards the open ground of the Flame Dragon Tribe.

The hot air balloons, which originally looked as small as sesame seeds when looking up, gradually grew to the size of watermelons, and then slowly became clearly visible.

A few minutes later, the three hot air balloons landed, and Su Bai was the first to disembark, with Yan Hua and others following closely behind.

“We’ve arrived, do not be nervous.” Sha Lan said gently from behind.

Flying back from the ocean, Sha Lan had been mediating the entire journey, as those they picked up from the riverside were all very tense.

To be fair, it was their first time visiting another Tribe, and no one knew what would happen next. Moreover, whether this Tribe was good or bad remained unknown, and what was unknown was often the most frightening thing.

Therefore, they frequently displayed anxious expressions or spoke with worry, so Sha Lan had to constantly reassure them.

Lu Zi kept blinking her purple eyes as she looked at the outer region of the Flame Dragon Tribe, continuously glancing down at her feet.

Although she had been on this side of the great river for quite some time now, actually approaching a Tribe still evoked profound feelings.

Additionally, she noticed that the outer region of this Tribe was surrounded by wooden walls, and had the soil in front of them all strangely turned over. Furthermore, there were strange wooden houses at the entrance of the Tribe. [Are these wooden houses meant for people to live in? So, do they live outside the Tribe? How lowly must the people of the Tribe be, to live outside? That is far too unsafe.]

[This Tribe must have many people, otherwise they would not have built wooden houses outside…] Lu Zi kept thinking.

“What are you thinking about? Quickly come in with us.” Sha Lan waved her hand in front of the girl.

“Oh… all right, what a strange Tribe…” Lu Zi nodded in response, coming back to her senses.

The purple haired girl was completely bewildered, genuinely full of curiosity about this Tribe.

*Step step step…* Including Su Bai and his group, more than two hundred people walked into the Flame Dragon Tribe, carefully avoiding the farmland as they went.

“What are all these? How strange!” Lu Zi asked confusedly.

“These are farmlands, we use them to grow crops,” Sha Lan explained with a smile.

“Farmlands? Crops?” Lu Zi struggled with these unfamiliar terms, her accent making them sound awkward. She continued to ask. “What are these things?”

“You’ll know after you become part of our Tribe; you’ll definitely be amazed by it.” Sha Lan said softly.

Lu Zi nodded thoughtfully, pointing at the wooden houses in the distance and could not help asking. “Then, who lives in those wooden houses? Are they for people of low status? Will we be living there too?”

“Hahaha.” Sha Lan laughed after hearing this, covering her mouth and saying: “No, those are not for Humans.”

Lu Zi widened her purple eyes in shock: “What? These aren’t for Humans? Then what are they for?”

Lu Zi could not understand why such large wooden houses were not meant for people. She had originally thought these wooden houses were for those of humble status, but to think they were not even for Humans.

“They’re for beasts, all of these are for beasts to live in.” Sha Lan pointed to the row of wooden shelters outside.

“What!? All of these are for beasts to live in? This is simply… simply crazy, isn’t it?” Lu Zi was completely taken aback.

It was one thing if they were not for Humans, but now they were actually for beasts to live in—this was truly insane.

Building these wooden houses for no apparent reason, all for beasts to live in; were the people of this Tribe just bored with nothing better to do?

“Not at all, these beasts are all raised by us, so they need a place to live, right?” Sha Lan explained.

“Why raise beasts? And wouldn’t it be better to just keep them outside? Why waste time specifically to build these things?”

Lu Zi still could not understand and continued. “Where we come from, we never do this; we just leave them outside and bring them in when needed.”

“Although I don’t know what it’s like where you come from, this is how our Tribe does things; it was the Shaman’s idea.” Sha Lan said.

Lu Zi had originally felt some goodwill towards Su Bai, but hearing this made her uncomfortable. She looked at Su Bai’s back as if she were looking at a fool, even wondering if her decision was correct, or if she had led her people into a fire pit.

“Why would your Shaman do this? It really is… too strange,” Lu Zi kept shaking her head in disagreement.

“We do this to raise these beasts, so we can eat them directly without always having to hunt.” Sha Lan explained patiently.

She originally did not want to explain too much, but seeing how deeply the other party misunderstood the Shaman, she could not let it go without clarification.

Sha Lan did not want anyone to be prejudiced against her Shaman, who was clearly the best Shaman in the world.

“Raise them? Why spend extra food to raise beasts? Wouldn’t it be better to just hunt them outside?” Lu Zi was utterly perplexed.

“What about during the rainy season? What about when the snow season starts? How would you hunt then?” Sha Lan asked three soul-searching questions.

“What is a rainy season? What is a snow season? What are these things?” Lu Zi became even more confused.

She looked at Sha Lan as if she were looking at a fool, not understanding what the other person was talking about.

“Don’t you have a rainy season where you come from? No snow season?” Sha Lan wondered if she had misheard; how could someone not know about the rainy season and snow season?

“No, I don’t know what these are,” Lu Zi said without hesitation.

“The rainy season is when it rains continuously without stopping, and the snow season is when it snows for a long period, and everywhere is a sea of white.” Sha Lan explained.

“It rains continuously? That would be wonderful! I hope it rains continuously!” Lu Zi’s face brightened with delight, and she continued. “As for snow, I don’t know what that is.”

“Doesn’t it rain where you come from? And has it never snowed?” Sha Lan asked.

“It does rain, but not frequently; sometimes there might only be once or twice in one or two months.” Lu Zi shook her head.

“Is it really that good where you come from? I wish it were the same here.” Sha Lan said in an envious tone.

Sha Lan personally really disliked the rain. She also disliked continuous snow; not only was it inconvenient, but it was also very cold, with less food available.

“Is it that good? I don’t like it that way; I prefer how it is here,” Lu Zi looked at her own place with disdain.

“But your place really is strange, to have such good weather.” Sha Lan was still shocked.

“No no no. Yours is better.” Lu Zi shook her head.
