Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

The taxi drove off, forcing their conversation to a halt.

Qiu Xinyi watched the taxi speed away, stomping her foot in anger: ”Yan Huan, just you wait!”

”You two seem pretty close, huh?” Yan Huan teased, half-jokingly half-seriously.

”We just know each other, that’s all.” Ji Chuan noticed Yan Huan’s displeasure and was rather pleased, ”Are you jealous?”

”No way!” Yan Huan stubbornly denied, ”I just find him annoying! I don’t like Qiu Xinyi one bit. She’s arrogant, self-important, and conceited.”

”What a coincidence, so do I.” Ji Chuan smiled.

”Yeah right. I didn’t see that; you were chatting so warmly with her just now, weren’t you?” Yan Huan pursed her lips, pretending not to be jealous.

”You say you’re not jealous? I can smell something strong!” Ji Chuan laughed, ”A few years ago I performed surgery on Chief Qiu. It went well, very successful! Now, Chief Qiu has thyroid nodules and might need surgery, so she wants me to do this surgery for her father.”

”I think her intentions aren’t what they seem.” Don’t think she’s naive and doesn’t understand what’s going on.

She knew it well. Last time, when she sent Ji Chuan back home from a village trip, Qiu Xinyi intercepted them on the way.

She took the initiative to greet Ji Chuan and introduced herself for ages, obviously implying something.

Sometimes not saying anything doesn’t mean he doesn’t know.

”You still say you’re not jealous?” Ji Chuan was amused by her reaction, ”But you’re quite adorable, and I like it!”

The more she was jealous, the more it showed she cared about him.

Ji Chuan suddenly started enjoying this feeling.

”I don’t like it.” Yan Huan raised an eyebrow in displeasure, looking at Ji Chuan, ”I don’t like it when others covet my man.”

”Your man?” Ji Chuan was delighted at her words, his heart blooming with joy, ”I won’t even glance at her, you really don’t need to worry.”

”Who knows...” Yan Huan grumbled.

”What? Want me to profess my loyalty to you?”

”How?” Yan Huan blinked.

”Like this...” Ji Chuan turned over, pushing Yan Huan into the corner of the taxi’s backseat, instantly closing the distance between them.

Ji Chuan’s handsome face drew close, his eyes filled with mischievous amusement.

”What are you doing... Why are you so... so close...?” Yan Huan stuttered nervously, frightened by Ji Chuan’s unexpected move.

But it wasn’t fear of Ji Chuan, it was his unexpected behavior that startled her.

”How could I not get close and kiss you? If I don’t kiss you, how can you feel my affection? I mean, my intense love for you!” Ji Chuan looked at Yan Huan with a mock-serious expression.

She looked at his lips so near, nervously swallowed: ”Don’t, don’t do this... It’s embarrassing if someone sees us...”

”But your eyes clearly say you want me to kiss you too.” Ji Chuan whispered, his breath tickling her ear.

Yan Huan’s ears turned red, her face hot: ”Stop teasing. I’m really going to get mad.”

His behavior was too bold. Are people who study abroad really this open?

”Alright.” Ji Chuan saw her truly embarrassed and slowly moved away from her.

Yan Huan watched him return to his seat and finally breathed a sigh of relief, the heat on her face subsided: ”You shouldn’t be called Ji Chuan, you should be called Ji Wulai.”
