Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Facing the window with the parasol trees, Meng Qingmei watched her son with the ferocity of a tiger or wolf, as if he wanted to swallow Yan Huan whole.

”Look at him, shameless as ever.” Ji Shuanglin wanted to cover his face, ”It’s scandalous!”

”Nonsense. Our son is over thirty! And this is probably his first kiss! Today is definitely a first!” Meng Qingmei rolled her eyes at Meng Shuanglin, ”Speaking of which, you’re no better than him!”

”How did this become about me?” Ji Shuanglin said, smiling wryly, ”Stop looking, it’s better if you think of how to explain to Xia Lin later.”

Meng Qingmei glanced at the tightly closed bathroom door, waved her hand and said, ”Don’t worry about that. I’ll personally talk to Xia Lin when the time comes. Even if she scolds, I’ll take it. Let me be the villain.”

The elderly couple whispered by the window, suddenly hearing cheers from downstairs.

”Ji Chuan, you’re really something!”

”Old Ji, old Ji! Isn’t it about time for you to hand out wedding candies?”

”Everyone, applause!”

”What’s going on?” Meng Qingmei looked down to see what was happening, the neighbors downstairs had all opened their windows, cheering Ji Chuan and Yan Huan.

”This kid is just...” Ji Shuanglin grumbled yet couldn’t help but laugh, ”Couldn’t he find a place with fewer people to kiss? Now he’s given the whole neighborhood a live show.”

”What’s wrong with a live show?” Meng Qingmei applauded for her son, ”My son is a good one! This bravery and fearlessness, he’s better than you in that regard!”

”Yes, yes, your son is better than me in every way! If it weren’t for me, such an outstanding father, where would you get this son who’s better than me in every way?”

Yan Huan was surrounded by the neighbors’ cheers, and even with thick skin, she couldn’t stand being watched by so many people.

She forcefully pushed Ji Chuan away, gasping for air, hiding her head in his chest, ”Ji Chuan, this is so embarrassing. So many people are watching!”

”What’s there to be embarrassed about? Lift your head, we’re not stealing or robbing, we’re freely in love, and it’s gloriously honorable!” Ji Chuan curled his lips, his eyes gleaming with joy.

”Little Chuan! You’re impressive, kid! I’ve always thought you were special! Even dating is so earth-shattering. Who’s this girl?”

”Brother Chuan! Let sister-in-law lift her head! Can we all take a look?”

Ji Chuan looked at Yan Huan, whose head was buried in his chest, laughing, ”Well? Sooner or later, everyone will see you, why not let them admire your vigor first!”

Since everyone already knew, Yan Huan stopped being coy.

Let them watch, what’s there to be afraid of?

Yan Huan lifted her head, smiling as she waved and greeted the neighbors.

”Beautiful! Really beautiful!”

”Brother Chuan has good taste!”

”...”

Ji Chuan reached out, wrapped his arm around Yan Huan’s waist, loudly declaring, ”This is my wife, Yan Huan! Soon I’ll invite everyone to my wedding banquet!”

Amid enthusiastic applause from the neighbors, Yan Huan smiled at him, ”Who said I’m going to marry you?”

”If you don’t marry me, who else will you marry?” Ji Chuan raised an eyebrow, domineeringly saying, ”After all the hard work winning your heart, no one can take you away from my side.”

”Enough! Have you embarrassed yourself enough, kid? If you have, hurry back!” Ji Shuanglin couldn’t stand his son’s bragging any longer.

Is this necessary?

When he married Qingmei, she was pregnant with this kid, and he didn’t boast like that.
