Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Yes. I’m sorry, Cheng Yue, I’m giving up. Let this broken relationship be eternally remembered deep in our hearts.” Since she no longer loved him, Yan Huan said it outright.

Feelings sometimes need a clean break!

The first breakup was so Cheng Yue wouldn’t be troubled. Yan Huan made a significant decision and proposed the breakup to Cheng Yue.

This time, it’s for herself.

Since she already had someone she loved, she had no reason to be entangled with Cheng Yue anymore.

”Yan Huan, why do you always make breaking up sound so easy? It was like this the first time, and it’s the same this time!” Cheng Yue felt his heart was pierced by thousands of arrows, each breath brought pain.

”Before, I loved you, so I painfully gave you up! This time, I do not love you, so I’m giving you up!”

”Then who do you love? Tell me, who has taken up space in your heart?” Cheng Yue was unwilling, his eyes red as he looked at Yan Huan, demanding she reveal the man.

”It’s me!” At this moment, Ji Chuan came with movie tickets, striding over as if to assert his claim, holding Yan Huan’s hand hanging by her side.

”Ji Chuan! It really is you!” Cheng Yue’s anger reached its peak, ”Director Ji really knows how to play his cards well! I was just away for a few days, and you’ve won her heart!”

”Ji Chuan did not use any tricks.” Yan Huan disliked hearing Cheng Yue speak like that and proactively rebutted him, ”I have the right to love you, I also have the right not to love you. Likewise, I have the right to love Ji Chuan!”

”So, that’s why you haven’t been picking up my calls for so long?” Cheng Yue questioned Yan Huan.

”You called me?” Yan Huan was taken aback.

”Yes! Almost every day. But every day, it wasn’t you who answered!” Cheng Yue said through gritted teeth.

”I didn’t know. Maybe my mom never told me. You also know her attitude!”

”Yan Huan, why didn’t you call me? Do you know how hard it was waiting for you? You...” Ultimately, Cheng Yue couldn’t come to terms; all this time, he was in one place physically and in another emotionally.

He had always hoped for a day to meet Yan Huan, yet he hadn’t expected it to be like this.

”Cheng Yue! Stop being silly!” Shen Qiqi couldn’t hold back anymore, shaking Cheng Yue’s arm, ”She doesn’t love you! She never truly loved you! Wasn’t she unable to leave Nancheng? So why is she in Jiangning now?”

With Shen Qiqi’s reminder, Cheng Yue suddenly became aware of this issue.

Yan Huan had always said she couldn’t leave Nancheng and insisted he settle there. If he wasn’t in Nancheng, the marriage wouldn’t be possible.

Now, what does this mean?

”Yan Huan, explain to me! I can’t believe you’re that kind of woman! I can’t believe our past feelings were all fake.” Once the initial anger passed, only the enduring heartache remained, which Cheng Yue couldn’t bear.

”Let it be then.” Yan Huan didn’t want to explain further.

Four or five years ago, during the breakup, he hadn’t said much. He felt he needed to return to Jiangning, so he just accepted the outcome.

Now, he felt he’d tried and worked hard, but the outcome wasn’t what he wanted, leaving him feeling wronged and unbalanced.

She was, after all, seven or eight years older than him, so she didn’t argue with him.

”Let me explain.” Ji Chuan couldn’t bear seeing Yan Huan burdened with misunderstanding. Even if she and Cheng Yue needed closure, he hoped for a peaceful separation, not leaving anyone unhappy.
