Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”You don’t need to explain anymore. The facts are right in front of us, does your explanation matter? Of course, you’re going to side with Yan Huan.” Shen Qiqi was indignant on behalf of Cheng Yue.

”No, I must explain. I want you to understand, if it were for me and Yan Huan, I would let you misunderstand all along, so you and she would have conflicts and misunderstandings, and I wouldn’t have to worry about you rekindling old feelings. But, I’m not that despicable person.” Ji Chuan spoke with resolute firmness.

Cheng Yue looked at him without speaking, but his eyes clearly indicated that he needed this explanation.

”Did I tell you before, if I were you, I shouldn’t give Shen Qiqi hope? You said you couldn’t give up on Yan Huan and you couldn’t give up on Shen Qiqi. Shen Qiqi is your sister, you grew up together, you couldn’t ignore her terrible situation. At that moment, did you consider Yan Huan’s feelings? You resolutely returned to Jiangning without even personally saying goodbye to her.”

”I didn’t have time. But, I left a letter for her!”

”Let me ask you, if a similar situation occurred between us, Yan Huan went with me without hesitation but left you a letter, how would you feel? There’s a living example right in front of you — Yan Huan told you she couldn’t leave Jiangning, yet she came with me. Isn’t your heart also aching?”

”Why? I just want to ask why?” Cheng Yue couldn’t come to terms with this matter, ”Since you wanted to come to Jiangning, why didn’t you come with me before? Why?”

”Because Yan Huan really has health problems,” Ji Chuan said coldly, ”Have you ever cared why?”

Cheng Yue was rendered speechless.

”Is it better now?” Shen Qiqi couldn’t believe it, since it was a strange illness haunting Yan Huan for so many years, how could it just be cured in these few days?

”Almost,” Yan Huan sighed, gripping Ji Chuan’s hand in return, ”He helped me! He’s always been helping me with my illness! Finally, I can have a chance to leave Nancheng.”

Cheng Yue looked at Yan Huan in shock, for a long time, unable to utter a word.

Originally, he had many grudging things he wanted to question Yan Huan about, but now they were all swallowed down.

”I understand!” Cheng Yue struggled hard to digest this statement, and turned around with difficulty, ”Then I wish you happiness! Yan Huan, don’t blame me, I was too emotional just now.”

”No. You tried hard too. I don’t deny your efforts!” Yan Huan said, looking at Cheng Yue’s rigid back, ”You have your difficulties, I know very well in my heart. We can only say we are destined yet not fated to be together! That’s why after going in circles, we can’t be together!”

Cheng Yue nodded, said nothing, and walked down the steps in a daze.

Shen Qiqi stomped angrily and followed him.

Yan Huan watched this scene, feeling uncomfortable inside. Perhaps her bluntness hurt Cheng Yue deeply. But, if she weren’t blunt, the two would be entangled endlessly.

”Do you feel reluctance in your heart?” Ji Chuan looked down at Yan Huan who was frowning tightly.

”No.” Yan Huan turned and hugged Ji Chuan, resting her head on his shoulder, ”I just realized why I waited for him so long!”

”Why?”

”Because I was waiting for you! This should be destiny’s guidance, it made me wait for you! Wait for it to send you to my side!” Yan Huan said softly.

Ji Chuan’s lips curled up, he kissed her hair: ”Thank destiny!”
