Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Bang bang bang~

The sound of knocking on the door was heard. Ji Chuan got up and was about to open the door when Meng Qingmei rushed out of the kitchen: ”Quick, it must be Teacher Xia Lin. Be polite when you meet her!”

”Don’t worry. When have I ever been impolite to anyone? Relax.”

The door opened, and standing there was a young and beautiful woman, with delicate features and rosy lips, a girl who was clearly very poised and graceful.

Such a girl definitely fits the general aesthetic.

”Are you Teacher Xia?” Ji Chuan asked.

Xia Lin smiled, her eyes curved: ”I’m called Xia Lin. You can just call me by my name, Ji Chuan!”

”Please come in.” Ji Chuan gave a polite smile and invited Xia Lin into the house.

Meng Qingmei and Ji Shuanglin had washed their hands and came into the living room to welcome the guest: ”Xiaoxia! We’ve been waiting for you all morning, and here you finally are!”

”Hello, Auntie. Hello, Uncle.” Xia Lin smiled sweetly and presented the gifts she was carrying with both hands, ”These are from my parents for you two.”

”Just coming is good enough, why bring anything? Come, sit down!” Meng Qingmei laughed and led Xia Lin by the hand over to the sofa.

Yan Huan felt really embarrassed at that moment. What was she doing here anyway?

She almost wanted to slap herself hard. Why did she impulsively agree to come with Ji Chuan? Now look, she had walked into Ji Chuan’s matchmaking scene.

This feeling was really, truly unpleasant.

”And this is...?” Xia Lin noticed Yan Huan sitting on the sofa and asked with a smile.

”A friend of Ji Chuan’s. She heard I wasn’t feeling well, so she came with Ji Chuan to see me,” Meng Qingmei quickly introduced them to each other, ”Yan Huan, this is Teacher Xia Lin. Don’t they look quite compatible together?”

”Compatible, very compatible...” Yan Huan echoed insincerely, feeling a bit off.

Xia Lin didn’t look like a particularly stunning girl, but her features were well-coordinated, giving off a comforting impression, instantly marking her as a well-behaved girl.

She was only in her early twenties, like a budding flower, full of youth and vitality, and there was indeed a harmonious vibe when standing with Ji Chuan.

”Ahem, ahem!” Ji Chuan cleared his throat a couple of times, ”Mom, shouldn’t you be starting to cook now?”

”Alright! I’m going now.” Meng Qingmei gave a meaningful smile and said to Xia Lin and Yan Huan, ”You two get to know each other. You young people sit and chat, while Uncle and I prepare lunch.”

”Shall I help you?” Xia Lin said obediently.

”No need, you just chat. I’m showcasing my culinary skills today, so wait to be impressed.” Meng Qingmei said with a chuckle.

In the kitchen, while assisting Meng Qingmei, Ji Shuanglin leaned in and whispered, ”Did you see? Yan Huan’s expression looks a bit off.”

”I saw it.” Meng Qingmei smiled slightly while chopping vegetables, ”Our son likes Yan Huan. We need to give him a push, help him out.”

”But... won’t this make people feel uncomfortable? Look at her...”

”Feeling uncomfortable is good. The more discomfort, the more it shows she has feelings for our son. If she wasn’t uncomfortable, that would be the problem. If she’s not bothered and is chatting away easily, then our son would be the one in trouble.” Meng Qingmei saw the situation clearly.
