Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Did she eat a stick of dynamite or what?” Tan Xiaomei also felt frustrated and angry, ”Yan, don’t you think our team is great? Why does she insist on joining it? When you weren’t around, I went down to the troops every day for interviews and didn’t want to come back to write articles, just to avoid her high-and-mighty attitude!”

”There’s no help for it, her dad’s the army Chief of Staff, right?” Yan Huan shrugged indifferently.

”Your dad is also the army Deputy Commander!”

”My dad’s retired now, hasn’t he?” Yan Huan said with a smile.

”Yan, how can you not be angry at all?”

”Is it worth it?” She would only get serious with Qiu Xinyi if that woman truly angered her.

.....................

Qiu Xinyi went to the clinic to treat her wound, then went outside for some air alone.

She hadn’t seen Ji Chuan for a while, and she couldn’t believe how quickly those two had progressed. Why was it so hard for her to find one she liked, but he didn’t like her back?

She was full of unhappiness.

Ji Chuan... he truly was a very charming man; she immediately took a liking to him. But last time, his rejection was obvious, and she hadn’t found a reason to see Ji Chuan yet.

She’s been hounded by men before and knows how annoying those who deliberately make excuses to approach her can be.

Of course, it would be a different story if the person happens to be someone she likes.

Clearly, Ji Chuan is someone who doesn’t like her. She wants to get close to Ji Chuan but doesn’t want to make those superficial excuses to see him. It’s truly a passive situation right now.

Just as Qiu Xinyi was feeling downhearted, she heard someone calling her: ”Qiu, why are you here? Chief Qiu is here to inspect the work, and the Commander specifically named you to meet him! Come on, let’s go!”

”Alright!”

At the regiment office, Chief Qiu was chatting with the Commander when they heard a ”report” sound from the door. The Commander personally got up to open the door.

”Hello, Commanders!” As soon as Qiu Xinyi walked through the door, she saluted.

”Ah, little Qiu! Come in, we’re not here about official business today. Your father is here on a work inspection and came to see you.” The Commander said.

Hearing this from the Commander, Qiu Xinyi relaxed, smiled broadly, and rushed to Chief Qiu’s side: ”Dad, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”

”Didn’t I send someone to call you?” Chief Qiu looked at his thirty-year-old daughter, still not quite grown up, with a gaze full of helplessness and affection. ”Look at you... such a grown woman, still like a child! We’re in the military, you need to always pay attention to your appearance and discipline! Look at how you’re holding my arm, what does that look like!”

”Dad—, why do you always criticize me when you see me?” Qiu Xinyi frowned reluctantly, ”The Commander hasn’t said anything about it!”

”Qiu Xinyi! You must humbly accept the Commander’s criticism.” The Commander hurriedly instructed her.

”Yes, Commander.”

”You’re just in need of someone to keep you in line!” Chief Qiu scolded her for a bit, then got to the main point, ”The Commander just mentioned introducing you to someone. It’s a combat staff officer who just transferred from elsewhere.”

The Commander chimed in, ”Exactly! He’s really energetic! His work performance is outstanding. He’s about your age, and his family background is quite good. I think you two would be a good match. You should meet...”

”Dad! You know what’s on my mind.” Qiu Xinyi quickly interjected, ”Except for him, I won’t meet anyone!”
