Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”So, are you using this as an excuse and reason to force me to compromise over and over again?” Cheng Yue was filled with anger, unable to find an outlet, ”What if I commit suicide too? Would I then be able to get away from Qiqi?”

”Yuyu!” Qi Siyuan saw that her son was determined to leave, so she no longer tried to persuade him, ”Alright then, go see Qiqi tomorrow and say goodbye to her!”

”I understand.” Cheng Yue said and went upstairs.

...............

The next day, Cheng Yue went to the Shen Family to bid farewell to Shen Qiqi.

Shen Qiqi was sitting quietly by the window on the second floor, looking at the scenery outside and painting. Hearing footsteps on the staircase, she put down her paintbrush and turned around.

”Cheng Yue, you came!” Shen Qiqi was delighted to see Cheng Yue.

She smiled, stood up naturally, linked arms with him, and pulled him over to sit in the chair, ”Look at my painting, how is it? It’s almost finished, just a bit left to complete.”

”It’s quite good.” Cheng Yue glanced at the artwork, ”Your painting is quite expressive, much better than being a nurse. Why not pursue painting in the future?”

”Sure. I became a nurse in Nancheng for you anyway. If you don’t go to Nancheng, it doesn’t matter whether I continue being a nurse.” Shen Qiqi said with a smile.

”Qiqi. I... still have to return to Nancheng.” Cheng Yue, despite not wanting to see her upset, knew some things needed to be said; he couldn’t stay in Jiangning for Shen Qiqi.

He was going back to find Yan Huan.

Shen Qiqi’s heart trembled suddenly as she stared at Cheng Yue in disbelief, ”What did you say? You’re going back to Nancheng again?”

”Yes!”

”Still for Yan Huan?”

”Yes!”

Shen Qiqi’s expression changed abruptly, she had thought Cheng Yue would never go back to Nancheng. She eagerly painted a picture intending to give it to him as a gift.

But...

She had given up her dream of painting for him; he studied medicine, and unable to get into medical school, she became a nurse, all just to be with him.

Did he really think she enjoyed working in places filled with disinfectant everywhere?

Facing the heavy matters of life and death every day!

”I understand.” Shen Qiqi picked up the paint, slapping it onto the painting, ruining the nearly completed piece.

”Qiqi, what are you doing?” Cheng Yue was seeing this side of Shen Qiqi for the first time; she had never acted so extreme even when angry, nor had she destroyed her painstakingly created work.

”Nothing. Since the painting is useless, it has no reason to exist.” Shen Qiqi said as tears dripped down, ”For so many years, you can’t see my feelings for you at all! Even if I die, you wouldn’t care at all. Your mind and heart are filled only with Yan Huan!”

”Qiqi. Forced love doesn’t taste sweet! Why do you need this?” Cheng Yue was most afraid of Shen Qiqi’s tears.

Shen Qiqi ignored him, covering her face with both hands and crying nonstop.

After a long while, she finally stopped, fiercely wiping away her tears she asked Cheng Yue, ”Are you determined?”

”Yes.” Cheng Yue replied with utmost certainty.

”Alright! I promise you. From now on, I won’t bother you anymore, but you must promise me one thing.”

”What is it?”

”Be my lover for a day! Just for today, after that, I won’t cling to you anymore! Let this be the beautiful memory you give me for a lifetime.” Shen Qiqi took the opportunity to make her request.
