Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Are you still thinking about this?” Ji Chuan didn’t expect her to look carefree on the outside, but be someone with such heavy thoughts.

”Yeah.” Yan Huan turned around, thought for a moment, and said, ”I don’t want to come to your hometown anymore. There are no good memories here! Every time I see the houses there, the blue bricks on the ground always remind me of when the three of us were locked up...”

”Unfortunately, I didn’t know about these things back then. If I had known, I would’ve searched every house until I found you.” Ji Chuan leaned in and pecked her warm lips lightly, ”Luckily, heaven has been kind to you. Otherwise, where would I, Ji Chuan, go crying to find my wife today?”

Yan Huan burst out laughing: ”If you hadn’t met me, you would’ve naturally found another wife. Don’t portray yourself as so deeply affectionate.”

”Let’s not think about it anymore, forget it all. There’s still a long way to go, and we must always look forward!” Ji Chuan raised his hand to gently caress her smooth, delicate cheek, ”We’re heading back to Nancheng tomorrow, so why don’t you think of where you’d like to go for a stroll? It’s not often we come to Jiangning, and I ought to take you around.”

Ji Chuan successfully diverted Yan Huan’s attention: ”Anywhere is fine, as long as you take me. Anywhere is good!”

”How rare,” Ji Chuan’s eyes sparkled with laughter.

”What’s so rare?”

”I often see you showing your claws at me! Rarely do you say things that warm my heart like this.”

Yan Huan nodded thoughtfully: ”Yep, you really are quite content, aren’t you?”

”I’m not content. I want to hear more of your affection for me, come on, say a few more things for me to hear.” Ji Chuan leaned his ear towards her.

”No way.” Yan Huan glanced around, ”There are so many people on this bus.”

”That’s why I’m leaning my ear over.” Ji Chuan grinned like a fox, ”Just one sentence will do. Just say, Ji dear, I love you!”

Yan Huan shivered: ”Oh my, goosebumps fell all over the place!”

”Will you say it?”

”Nope.”

”Really?”

”I can’t say it.”

”This morning you were crying like a pear blossom in the rain, calling me dear one moment after another! And now, you’re telling me you can’t say it. Who’d believe that?” When Yan Huan clutched his collar calling him dear, Ji Chuan had to admit it felt thoroughly satisfying.

It gave him a feeling of being relied upon by a lovable woman, making him feel quite grand.

”There needs to be the right time for everything.” Yan Huan rolled her eyes at him.

”Alright then. It’s your call! I’ll create an opportunity for you to call me dear.”

”You’re sick!” Yan Huan cursed, but as she turned her head, the corners of her mouth curved up slightly. In her heart, she quietly called out a few times: dear, Ji Chuan dear.

Hmm, it actually feels pretty nice.

...

Cheng Yue’s call was once again cut off, and he let out a deep sigh as he put down the receiver.

”What? Still no one answering your call?” Qi Siyuan placed a plate of fruit in front of him, ”Yuyu, not that I’m telling you, but some people are just missed opportunities. Yan Huan doesn’t love you enough, if she did, would she keep refusing to answer your calls?”

”Mom! Just don’t say anything. I consider Qiqi like a sister, I won’t consider her otherwise! I see her emotions have stabilized, so I plan to return to Nancheng tomorrow.” Cheng Yue got up to head upstairs.

”Wait!” Qi Siyuan grabbed the corner of Cheng Yue’s clothes, ”What if you leave and Qiqi doesn’t think it through and tries to commit suicide again? Have you considered that?”
