Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

88: Chapter 88: Subduing the Barn Owl and Beginning SeclusionThe Barn Owl heard this, and its worries lessened slightly: ”This is exactly what I was hoping for.”

By dividing the regions, their survival would be guaranteed, and they would also receive protection.

It was just some spirit stones; it could still afford to pay them.

It also approved of Bai Xuan’s approach. Only by uniting could they work together to resist unknown dangers. Fighting alone would only lead to being picked off one by one, with consequences too terrible to imagine.

Meanwhile, Bai Xuan arrived at the location, his massive form landing on the ground and kicking up a gust of wind. Bai Xuan looked at the few Barn Owls on the tree branches: ”What are you doing here?”

”Respected Eagle King, we have come to join you. We hope you will accept our service.” The Barn Owl spoke respectfully and flew to the ground.

Looking at Bai Xuan’s massive form before it, which was more than twice its height, the aura he exuded was terrifying.

It seemed the rumors were true; the Eagle King was even more powerful than imagined.

Not even they knew his specific rank.

The other Barn Owls did the same, landing on the snow-covered ground and lowering their heads in submission.

”Where are you from?” Bai Xuan asked with interest.

Before the Barn Owls, many fierce beasts had come to join Bai Xuan, only to be incorporated into the Savage Bear Clan and placed under the management of Xiong Yan, saving Bai Xuan a lot of trouble.

As for third-order flying fierce beasts, this was the first group. This was exactly as Bai Xuan wished; the more flying fierce beasts there were, the better, as they could better handle aerial attacks.

”The North Region.” The Barn Owl informed him truthfully.

”I see. You should know my rules, right?”

”I do. Joining requires handing over 40% of resources, and every three months, another 40% of resources must be handed over. I don’t know if that has changed?”

The Barn Owl told Bai Xuan what it knew.

”No, just hand them over according to that standard.”

Bai Xuan shook his head slightly. This Barn Owl was indeed sensible; that was good, as it saved him the effort of subduing them.

Afterward, Bai Xuan gave them some instructions and took out a feather for the Barn Owl, telling it to come find him or Xiong Yan for help if it encountered problems it couldn’t solve.

”By the way, what is your name?” Bai Xuan asked for its name.

”Xue Yu.” The Barn Owl replied.

”Then Xue Yu, that area in the North will be under your management. I hope you won’t disappoint me.” Bai Xuan handed the North Region over to Xue Yu. The Barn Owl clan was the largest group in the North, with a large population. Sea, land, and air fierce beasts were all on their menu, and they did their utmost to strengthen their clan.

Even when their clan reached a certain size, they did not become arrogant but instead sought a way out. Rather than waiting for Bai Xuan to come and subdue them, it was better to proactively join, avoiding casualties and unnecessary grudges and hatred.

”Many thanks for your appreciation, Eagle King.” The Barn Owl was very happy to hear this. With this, its Barn Owl clan could collect resources in the North Region without restraint. If they encountered tribes or difficulties they couldn’t solve, they could come to seek help from Bai Xuan and Xiong Yan.

Without even needing Bai Xuan to step in, the Savage Bear Clan and the Barn Owl clan could sweep through the entire North Region.

This was a huge benefit for them.

Finally, after giving a few more instructions, Bai Xuan flew away.

The North Region had a clan to manage it and collect resources. The East would be collected by the Savage Bear Clan for the time being; if they were too busy, Bai Xuan would subdue another clan.

As for the sea, Bai Xuan couldn’t manage it for the time being.

...

Xue Yu completely let down its guard against Xiong Yan. Now they were fierce beasts of the same faction, and could also be called partners: ”Leader Xiong, please take care of us from now on.”

”Likewise, likewise. We also need you to take care of us.” Xiong Yan laughed, and the atmosphere suddenly became cheerful.

The Savage Bear Clan also needed aerial resources to help them see the terrain clearly, avoid detours, and hunt prey and collect resources faster.

”Then in the future, we will not distinguish between you and me; we will help each other. Your business is my business, and my business is your business. If there is anything the Barn Owl clan can help with, just come to the North to find us, and we will do our utmost.”

Xue Yu also laughed happily.

...

Two months later.

Siberia Region, border wall.

It had been over four months since the last time the wall was built to defend against fierce beasts.

During this time, there had been few conflicts between Bear Country and the fierce beasts outside the border.

But they did not relax their vigilance because of this. Inside the border wall, many facilities were built: military housing, hospitals, road transportation, aircraft runways, and so on, as well as weapon factories. Transport vehicles were constantly bringing supplies here.

Precisely to defend against the fierce beasts in the Siberia Region and the Far East Region, their fear of the fierce beasts grew day by day, and they would never trust the fierce beasts.

Peaceful coexistence was even more of a pipe dream. From beginning to end, they believed that it was the fierce beasts that had seized their territory. If it weren’t for the sake of the big picture, they would never have ended the war with such a plan.

It was simply a great humiliation; a group of animals running wild on their turf. How could they swallow this? It wasn’t that they wouldn’t retaliate, but that the time hadn’t come yet.

In the military district office, Major General Kardik sat in a chair, attentively reviewing documents. On the desk were several large screens, constantly playing the situation in the Far East Region and the Siberia Region, using high-altitude large drones and reconnaissance aircraft to scout the area.

”Major General Kardik, Major General Long Shaoyang from the Dragon Country has arrived at the military district.” Colonel Kotdiev’s voice came over the intercom.

”Good, I’m coming down now.” Major General Kardik hung up the intercom, calmly tidied up the documents on the desk, then stood up, walked out of the office, and went downstairs to the outside, where snow was falling heavily and the cold wind was biting.

Wearing a military officer’s overcoat, Major General Kardik walked to the entrance to greet him.

A military armored transport vehicle stopped at the entrance. Colonel Kotdiev strode forward and orderly opened the back door to welcome the distinguished guest: ”Major General Long, welcome to the 183rd Military District.”

Major General Long Shaoyang got out of the car, straightened his clothes, and shook hands with Colonel Kotdiev: ”It is my honor to receive your invitation.”

”Major General Long, long time no see. How have you been?” Major General Kardik waved at Major General Long Shaoyang and greeted him warmly.

”Major General Kardik, long time no see.” Major General Long Shaoyang stepped forward and shook hands with Major General Kardik, a smile on his face, looking like old friends meeting again.

The surrounding Bear Country Soldiers saluted and shouted: ”Welcome Major General Long to the 183rd Military District.”

Major General Long Shaoyang saluted in response: ”You have worked hard.”

Afterward, Major General Kardik warmly invited Major General Long Shaoyang inside to talk: ”Major General Long, please come in.”

Under Major General Kardik’s guidance, Major General Long Shaoyang arrived at the second-floor office: ”Major General Long, please sit.”

”Good.” Major General Long Shaoyang and Major General Kardik sat on the sofa and began to exchange polite pleasantries.

This time, rather than calling it an invitation for Major General Long Shaoyang, it was more like the two countries had reached a certain consensus, and then sent Major General Long Shaoyang to the military border to deal with what might happen next, which could also promote relations between the two countries.

...

Colonel Kotdiev knocked on the door three times: ”Major General Kardik, Major General Long.”

”Please come in.” Major General Kardik replied.

Colonel Kotdiev opened the door and entered the office, holding a tray in his other hand with a cup of tea and a cup of coffee on it. He walked to the table and unhurriedly placed the coffee and tea on the table: ”Major General Kardik, this is your coffee. Major General Long, this is your tea. Please enjoy.”

”Thank you for your hard work, Colonel Kotdiev.” Major General Kardik nodded slightly and thanked him.

After a few pleasantries, Colonel Kotdiev very tactfully left the office.

After all, this level of conversation was not something he could participate in.

”Major General Long, we have prepared everything on our side.” Major General Kardik picked up the coffee cup and took a sip.

”We have also made full preparations on our side. Once the war starts, our Dragon Country will hold down the East and South regions. If war breaks out, we will never retreat.” Major General Long Shaoyang took a slow sip of tea.

”This time, we must kill that giant eagle; we must not let it continue to grow recklessly.”

”Indeed, this growth rate is too terrifying.” Major General Long Shaoyang nodded slightly. As time passed, the giant eagle’s strength increased faster and faster, its own strength was outrageously strong, and now it had even controlled the fierce beasts of Menggu Country and the Far East Region.

Even the fierce beasts of the African Savanna were not this outrageous. In this regard, the Bear and Dragon countries felt a deep sense of threat, which was one of the reasons why they wanted to unite.

”According to news from the reconnaissance aircraft, the giant eagle is currently in seclusion, which is a good opportunity to act. This time we are prepared to use missile strikes; if that doesn’t work, we will throw nuclear bombs. Taking this opportunity, we will completely annihilate it.”

This time, Major General Kardik was very confident, vowing to nip Bai Xuan in the bud.

The missiles were naturally not launched by him, but were secretly carried out by higher-level officers, deploying the missiles in some weak countries and then launching them.

In this way, even if Bai Xuan didn’t die, he wouldn’t come to cause them trouble. Just in case, it was better to be cautious. And if they could kill it, that would be even better; in this way, the plight of the Far East Region would be greatly reduced.

Similarly, it would be very helpful for controlling the fierce beasts in the Far East Region in the future, and could even be built into a backyard where they could take materials and resources from the fierce beasts anytime, anywhere, and it could even become a place for novices to gain experience.

”Our Dragon Country has also made preparations to deal with the beast tide; we are 80-90% sure we can suppress it. Just leave the East and South to us.” Major General Long Shaoyang rarely talked about military affairs. Under normal circumstances, such things could absolutely not be told to officers of other countries.

But now the situation was different; the Bear and Dragon countries were now in the same boat, and both sides had reached an agreement to cooperate. Since things were set in stone, they didn’t continue to hide them.

It was only because the military allowed it that Major General Long Shaoyang would say it.

”That’s good. Next, we just need to guard the border line well.” Major General Kardik nodded slightly.

Their goal was to jointly guard the border line and block the fierce beasts outside. Major General Long Shaoyang was sent over to command the war situation together for the sake of the friendly interests of the two countries. On the Dragon Country side, there were also Bear Country Officers and military weapons.

”The next battle is bound to be a tough one. Hopefully, we can win a quick victory.” Major General Long Shaoyang took a sip of tea. Nowadays, they also needed to develop. While ensuring the fierce beasts were controlled, spiritual energy weapons and martial artists had to develop rapidly; at the very least, they had to be in the forefront.

...

At the same time, from a small country next to Bear Country, nine long-range missiles were launched, tearing through the void. At a terrifying speed of Mach 3, they flew toward Bai Xuan’s location, tracing a graceful arc in the air.

After a period of time, the missiles arrived at the central area of the Far East, falling rapidly like meteorites, smashing down toward the mountain peak where Bai Xuan was located.

Xiong Yan and the others sensed the arrival of the missiles and became alert: ”Not good, their target is the Eagle King!”

Xiong Yan knew that Bai Xuan was in seclusion and must not be disturbed.

It set off, leading the clan toward the snow mountain. Climbing up the snow mountain, one giant after another stood impressively on the snow mountain, letting out roars that shook the sky.

Xiong Yan slammed his palms forcefully into the snow mountain, and rows of rock and earth spikes erupted from the ground. With the efforts of the other Savage Bears, they wrapped the cave where Bai Xuan was located on the mountain top layer by layer, wanting to resist the incoming missiles.

Some Savage Bears picked up large stones and threw them forcefully at the incoming missiles. With great strength came miracles; the large stones flew over a thousand meters away.

Most didn’t hit, and only a few could hit. The missiles that were hit exploded in mid-air, the aftershocks vibrating, and flames and smoke dyed the sky. The other missiles flew out of the smoke and, in the next second, precisely exploded on the mountain top.

Bang! A loud rumbling noise struck. Most of the Savage Bears were shaken by the terrifying aftershocks, suffering terribly and falling off the snow mountain. A few barely managed to resist, and this was still from a relatively far distance. They covered their faces with their arms, struggling to open their eyes.

What met their eyes was a sky full of fire. These missiles also contained some white phosphorus, which would not be easily extinguished. The entire mountain top was blown away, and those rock defenses were blown to nothing.

”Eagle King...” Seeing this scene, Xiong Yan muttered to himself, his tone filled with disbelief. The humans’ weapons were too terrifying.

The snow mountain, nearly a thousand meters high, had a third of it blown away, and rubble fell everywhere like raindrops.

”The Eagle King, he couldn’t be dead, could he?!”

”What should we do now?”

”The power of this weapon is too terrifying; it’s not something we can resist. Let’s go; there’s no need to make unnecessary sacrifices.”

”But... what about the Eagle King? Are we just going to sit by and do nothing?”

”This is also something that can’t be helped. I believe the Eagle King will understand and forgive us.”

Xiong Yan advanced instead of retreating; if Bai Xuan died, they would be finished sooner or later.

Bai Xuan had an indispensable importance, capable of uniting major clans to form defense and offense. If Bai Xuan died, it would be their turn next.

If it weren’t for Bai Xuan’s existence, they would still be fighting fiercely with humans, and there would be no temporary peace and stable time for growth.

Precisely because of this, even if it meant sacrificing himself, Xiong Yan would spare no cost to save Bai Xuan!
