ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

The ripples that slowly started to shake the surface of the water mirror were now becoming more and more intense and wider, as the stones that were being thrown into the pond were also becoming larger and larger.

[And once again, I have to do overtime, huh……]

As the civilization develops further and further, the burden on people should decrease proportionally. When you think of the responsible work environment that you have to bear with at all times, this is actually an illusion that keeps on piling up until it cannot no longer sustain itself and breaks to pieces. Especially nowadays when economic recession is a real thing, and the piling overtime leading to overwork can cause you to let out exhaust sighs more and more often. The last resort to actually catch some break during a time like this is to file for a period of paid leave, which is rarely even used in this day and age, not to mention that it requires courage close to barbarity to use it for this year’s busy season.

A member of society does not have to fulfill only the responsibilities assigned to him / herself, but it is also necessary to consider the adjacent gears in order for the entire machine to be able to operate in a smooth manner. After all, each person is only a small cog in the great machinery known as society.

[Oh well, it’s not like I had any plans in particular in the I didn’t have any plans in the first place, so maybe I should also spend my Christmas while working in the office……]

It was just then, precisely at that exact time. A message arrives at the man’s e-mail box……But it was not an e-mail designated for his desktop PC at work. It was an e-mail that was delivered to his private message box on his private mobile device, a message addressed to the other “him” that he did not use for work.

[Ahh……… It’s from Jakuzane Jackson-san, huh…….? It seems that due to the tight, demon-like working schedule at the end of the year some of the top brass are unable to log in at all, so Jakuzane Jackson-san has been designated the Guild Master for the time being, who would have thought……?]

He is the kind of a man who was easily able to mumble half-serious things and half-negative things like that in one sentence all to himself in a public place, but as he kept on reading the message he happened to receive, the direction in which his brain’s resources were directed changed from the negative work-related ones to positive, game-related ones……

Drakarus Dinocerberus “Scarlet” has been defeated……? This has to be a lie, isn’t it? No, wait a minute, there’s even more information right after that. Goldunine? New Continent Decisive Battle? Wait, wait, wait just a freaking minute here…… Let’s try to calm down first and give this thing a read one more time……]

Drakarus Dinocerberus “Scarlet” has been defeated…… For the time being, the man’s mentality was first crushed by about forty percent by this piece of information alone. The terrifying dinosaur-dragon and the defeat of its burning eyes and scarlet-red body was one of the main factors that were driving the man’s motivation forward without fail, but if it was defeated just like that completely out of the blue, his mind was actually having one hell of a difficult time to actually process that information and come to terms with it. Because this has to be a mistake. Who would have done something like that?

–––––– But it was slightly below that information that a huge bombshell was dropped on the man: Drakarus Dinocerberus has been defeated by a SINGLE person.

[Guh, kuh, koh, kuh…………]

A series of strange sounds started to leak out from the man’s throat. It was the sound similar to something that was already pretty dehydrated, and it was becoming even more dehydrated at an astounding pace.

[Goldunine the Inexhaustible Subjogation Battle…… A U-Unique Monster……]

Unique Monster. It is one of a kind species of monsters in this game, with only seven beings representing said species. In this game of ShangriLa Frontier, only the seven of the strongest monsters bear that special title.

He could not get himself involved in the battle against the Gravekeeper Wezaemon, with Kutanid of the Abyss he was able to participate but only the bare minimum, so it did not even make that much difference, during the battle with Siegwurm, the Heavenly Emperor he was only one of many mob characters, from what he heard the Nightprowler Luukan has already been defeated twice, and he was nowhere near being able to challenge the Orchestra of the Gloomy Melody…… so that only left two Unique Monsters where he could try to make a difference, but the details surrounding them were still pretty much unclear.

But right about now, it would seem that one of those two remaining Unique Monsters was bearing the title of “Inexhaustible”. And if someone was announcing it like that, it must have been a confirmed information.

The man used to preach that to his gaming buddies almost every single day. How he would like to participate in the capture of a one-of-a-kind content, but since he would also cherish the daily tasks that were to be completed in the game, he thought it better to prioritize the lap efficiency over searching for Unique Monsters all on his own.

But that message settled it! It was in that moment that he decided that he wants to prioritize being a part of the Unique Monster subjugation above all else! To tell the truth here, he also dreamed of actually monopolizing one of many Raid Monsters if he could help it! But on the contrary, if you go around with solo intents like that, it is actually hard to make any of those dreams come true, not to mention getting along with your own surroundings. But now it would seem that there is actually a place with the right cause for him to belong to!

So in conclusion, if he could participate in an activity like that the way he was right now, he surely wanted to have a go at this Unique Monster content. However, he actually did not have all that much time to spare, he simply could not afford it. And above all else, he was still in doubt whether or not he possessed the mental fortitude to go through with it.

[……Nguh!]

He then swallowed the saliva that has accumulated in his mouth. It was pretty much the same reaction like the one you would get from someone who was at the verge of dying from hunger when you showed them the All-You-Can-Eat Imperial Feast.

[C-Christmas…… Paid Leave…… No, but still…… I can work hard for it…… How much can I actually digest? If I give priority to the parts that I absolutely have to clean up……… ………]

Recklessness, unreasonableness, impossibility…… The urge similar to that of the hunger of a starving beast assaulted his very reason and almost made him want to scream out loud. The missions that had to be fulfilled by him as the cogwheel of society itself, the thirst for the unknown that waited to be challenged as a brave Pioneer Player, and the time itself.
