Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

When they heard Zhao Rong was going to treat the little girl with leukemia, the surrounding doctors and onlookers immediately crowded around.

A doctor who appeared respectable and esteemed mocked him, ”Our Xijing City Hospital is the best in the city. If we can’t cure leukemia, do you, a young punk and a charlatan, think you can? What a joke!”

The young nurse standing next to the old doctor pointed at Zhao Rong’s nose and scolded, ”You! You’re obviously a quack, a swindler! What are you doing in our hospital? This is pure nonsense! If you can cure this little girl’s leukemia, our hospital will immediately hire you as a professor.”

The onlookers standing beside the doctors whispered among themselves. Not a single person believed the Elixir Zhao Rong was concocting could save the girl with leukemia.

One onlooker, wearing a white cap and chewing gum, sneered, ”The United States is the most developed country in the world. Their medicine is so advanced, yet they can’t cure leukemia. Do you, a young man who isn’t even a doctor, think you can? You’re nothing but a liar, a fraud, a fool!”

A ticket scalper was even more mocking. ”Are you schizophrenic? Leukemia is one of the most difficult diseases in the world to treat. If someone like you could cure it, the sun would rise in the west.”

Ignoring the crowd’s ridicule, Zhao Rong silently took out a pressure cooker and Yi Fire from his Magic Ring. He then turned to the three beautiful women beside him. ”Miss Lili, Beauty Yu Lan, Beauty Xuelian, I need the three of you to form a circle around me. Don’t let anyone see me using a pressure cooker in the hospital, or they’ll misunderstand and think I’m starting a fire to cook a meal right here.”

Although no one else believed Zhao Rong could refine a medicine to treat leukemia, the three beauties had complete faith in his ability.

Miss Lili supported him, saying, ”Brother Zhao Rong, even if no one else in the world believes you can refine an Elixir to cure leukemia, I, Lili, believe you can do it!”

Beauty Yu Lan pointed at the onlookers and rebuked, ”You bunch of snobs! Just wait for Brother Zhao Rong to prove every single one of you wrong!”

Beauty Xuelian went further, pointing at the esteemed doctor and the nurse. ”Even though you’re doctors, I have to say something. Don’t be so presumptuous, and don’t look down on people. Remember, there’s always someone better out there.”

By this time, Zhao Rong had already started the alchemy process. Following the recipe from the alchemy manual, he took several items from his Magic Ring: a Jade Pond Magnolia flower, a petal from a Tianshan Snow Lotus, a bottle of Jade Pond water, a stem of Divine Grass, and one-third of a Demon Crystal from an Ancient Forest Ape.

Just then, several more doctors walked over. When they saw Zhao Rong throwing a jumble of strange items into a pressure cooker, they burst into laughter.

A scholarly-looking doctor with glasses pointed at the pressure cooker and chuckled, ”Is this guy an idiot? Does he think he can create a new medicine just by waving a pressure cooker around?”

A doctor with a PhD ridiculed him, ”This person clearly looks like a manual laborer. You should be working hard on a construction site, not coming to our hospital to spout nonsense. Do you think you’re some Divine Doctor? Get out of our hospital now and don’t let us see you again!”

A new intern went even further. ”Kid, can you stop making a fool of yourself? Do you have any idea that developing a new drug takes at least ten years and a billion US dollars? You think you can refine a new medicine with a shabby old pressure cooker and some wildflowers you picked? Are you taking us all for fools?”

However, before the intern could finish, Zhao Rong wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled. ”It’s done. The refinement is a success.”

As he spoke, he opened the pressure cooker and took out a purplish-brown Elixir. Holding it in his hand, he felt a huge sense of relief.

Miss Lili then picked up the little girl. ”Sweetie, if you eat this Elixir, your leukemia will be completely cured.”

The little girl said through her tears, ”Big brother, big sister, if you can cure my leukemia, my mom won’t have to have a baby brother just to store umbilical cord blood for me.”

With that, the little girl took the Elixir from Zhao Rong’s hand and swallowed it. She immediately felt a surge of energy, and the discomfort in her body completely vanished. When the crowd saw the previously listless girl suddenly become so spirited and healthy after taking the Elixir, they were all dumbfounded.

But even though the little girl had seemingly recovered, the doctors refused to believe Zhao Rong had cured her leukemia. They picked her up and started walking toward the diagnostic room, shouting at Zhao Rong over their shoulders, ”You wet-behind-the-ears charlatan! Keep up your act! We’re taking this girl to the diagnostic room to prove, with science, that you haven’t cured her leukemia!” With that, they carried the little girl into the diagnostic room.

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong sat in a chair with his legs crossed, completely confident that his Elixir had cured the girl.

「Half an hour later.」

The doctors returned with their heads hung low, looking utterly defeated. The one who had scoffed at Zhao Rong earlier bowed deeply in apology. ”Young man, you really are a Divine Doctor. I was blind to your greatness and even scolded you. I admit my mistake. I am so sorry.”

The nurse who followed him looked at Zhao Rong with admiration. ”Sir, we never expected the Elixir you refined could actually cure the little girl’s leukemia. Medically speaking, this is a miracle!”

Zhao Rong laughed it off. ”No need for apologies. It’s alright. Saving one life is more meritorious than building a seven-tiered stupa.”

At that moment, the PhD doctor and the bespectacled doctor who had mocked him came over. The PhD doctor immediately knelt before Zhao Rong. ”Young man, although I have a doctorate, I am nothing compared to you. Your medical skill not only surpasses mine, but it has also shown me that I am nothing but a frog in a well.”

The new intern slapped himself twice and apologized. ”Divine Doctor, I’m truly sorry for calling you a quack. I’m the real quack! You are an absolute elite in the medical field!”

The bespectacled doctor sighed in admiration. ”Young man, since your medical skills are so brilliant, please stay at our Xijing Hospital and become our Director!”

Zhao Rong forgave them but declined their offer. ”I’m sorry. To be honest, I don’t have any medical skills. I just know how to perform alchemy.”

With that, Zhao Rong prepared to leave with the three beauties.

Just then, the little girl’s mother rushed over. She clung to Zhao Rong’s leg, crying. ”My savior! Our great benefactor! You truly are our family’s savior! Without you, not only would my daughter have died, but I might have lost my life as well.”

Her husband, standing beside her, pointed to her belly and explained, ”My wife wanted to have another child to save our daughter, but this pregnancy was ectopic. Thanks to you, she doesn’t have to go through with it. Otherwise, she might have lost her life.”

The little girl’s paternal grandparents also wept as they thanked him. ”Divine Doctor, you didn’t just save our granddaughter; you saved our entire family!”

Her maternal grandparents chimed in, ”Young man, could you leave us your name, work address, and phone number? I want to have a commemorative banner made and present it to you at your workplace in front of everyone to properly thank you.”

Zhao Rong smiled. ”There’s no need for that. Helping others is my greatest joy, and curing their ailments is my greatest happiness. You are happy, which makes me even happier.”

Saying this, Zhao Rong was about to bid farewell to the crowd and the doctors. However, after taking just a few steps, he was suddenly surrounded by even more patients.

A young woman with leukemia looked at him with hopeful eyes. ”Divine Doctor, since you saved that little girl, please save me too.”

A forty-year-old man, desperate to live, pleaded, ”Reincarnation of Sun Simiao, I beg you, give me an Elixir! I’m the pillar of my family, with elders to support and children to raise. If I fall, my family will collapse!”

An elderly man came forward, crying. ”Last year, I renovated my house and moved in without airing it out to remove the formaldehyde. In less than half a year, I got leukemia. Even though I’m old, my son isn’t married yet. I have to keep fighting to help him find a wife and buy a house, so I can’t die! Young man, please, give me an Elixir to cure my leukemia!”

As they pleaded, a crowd of over a hundred leukemia patients gathered around him.

Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head, looking troubled. ”Although the Elixirs I refine can save you, the materials in my Magic Ring are limited…”

Just as he finished speaking, an idea struck him. He jumped up happily and said with a smile, ”Alright! I’ll make the medicine right now and cure all of you!”

With that, Zhao Rong took a machine out of his Magic Ring.

When the three beauties saw it, they asked in amazement, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what is this machine?”

Zhao Rong pointed to the device and smiled. ”It’s a 3D replication machine.”
