Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 357: Chapter 319: Go to the hospital for an examination

Only after beating the villainous building manager to a senseless pulp did Zhao Rong and his assistant finally stop. The assistant, having already smashed a manhole cover in half over the man, rushed outside again and returned hefting a large chunk of the curb. ”Building manager, I’m going to kill you!”

When Zhao Rong saw the massive piece of stone in his assistant’s hands, he quickly intervened. ”Assistant, that’s enough! Any more and you’ll definitely kill him!” Just then, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian walked over.

Lili rolled the middle-aged man over and checked for his breath. ”He’s still alive, not dead yet.”

Yu Lan felt his wrist. ”He has a heartbeat, so he’s alive.”

Xuelian, however, took a bottle of mineral water and dumped it forcefully onto the man’s face. ”Stop playing dead! Wake up!”

The assistant picked a cockroach off the ground and tossed it into the man’s open mouth. ”Get up and answer our questions. This time it’s a cockroach. Next time, it’ll be a spider.”

Hearing the threat of a spider, the middle-aged man jolted awake. Gasping, he pleaded, ”Who are you people? I’ve done nothing to you. Why are you beating me?”

The assistant grabbed the man by his collar and demanded, ”Building manager, don’t you recognize me? The day before yesterday, on the first floor of the women’s dormitory, you caught me, stripped off all my clothes, and forced me to...”

Listening to the assistant’s accusation, the man was utterly bewildered. ”Who are you? I swear I don’t know you. Besides, I’m straight. I have no interest in a man as ugly as you. My interests lie entirely with young, beautiful women.”

Zhao Rong stepped forward and drove a fist into the man’s stomach. ”You’d better start talking, or we’ll beat you to death right here, today.”

Knocked to the ground again by the punch, the man clutched his stomach in agony. ”Dammit! It must be my good-for-nothing twin brother who’s caused trouble again.” With that, he pulled out a photo of himself and his brother, handing it to Zhao Rong. ”Sir, my name is Wang Gang. My brother’s name is Wang Tao. We’re identical twins. I run a massage shop near the school. Business was bad, so I changed the sign to ’Blind Massage Parlor,’ and now it’s booming. My brother, Wang Tao, has no real job. He just loafs around all day, lazy and idle, hanging out with unemployed thugs. The man you’re looking for must be my brother, Wang Tao, not me, Wang Gang!”

Staring at the man, Zhao Rong was incredulous. Crap. Don’t tell me we got the wrong person and beat him up by mistake.

The assistant immediately pulled down the man’s pants, looked at his rear, and exclaimed, ”Damn it, we really did get the wrong guy! This one doesn’t have a mole on his butt. The building manager who attacked me had a black mole right there!”

When Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian heard they had the wrong man, the three of them flushed with embarrassment.

The assistant stepped forward, apologizing awkwardly. ”I’m so sorry. I hit you with a brick, then a manhole cover, and was about to use a chunk of the curb on you because I thought you were Wang Tao. Who knew you were his twin brother, Wang Gang? My sincerest apologies.”

Zhao Rong glanced at the shattered bricks on the floor, scratching the back of his head as he apologized. ”This is a true comedy of errors. If we’d known you were his twin brother, we never would have come for you.”

But just as Zhao Rong and his assistant were apologizing to Wang Gang, the three women had a sudden change of heart.

Lili strode forward and slapped Wang Gang across the face. ”Even if Zhao Rong and his assistant beat the wrong person, you still deserved it! You’re nothing but a lecher!”

Yu Lan followed up, driving her elbow into his forehead. ”A man like you, pretending to be blind just so you can give women massages? I bet you weren’t massaging them at all, just copping a feel! People like you deserve a beating!”

Xuelian also stepped up and kicked Wang Gang in the backside before turning to Zhao Rong and his assistant. ”Zhao Rong, Assistant, you did the right thing hitting a pervert like this. If you don’t, his lechery will only grow bolder, and he’ll harm more innocent women in the future.”

With that, the three women pinned Wang Gang to the ground. ”Tell us where your twin brother is, now! Or the three of us will end you.”

Seeing how vicious the three women were, Wang Gang immediately begged for his life. ”Just let me go, and I’ll tell you the truth! I’ll tell you where my brother is!”

Zhao Rong took a step forward. ”No problem. You tell us where that bastard Wang Tao is, and we’ll all go find him. Then we’ll let you go on the spot.”

Wang Gang looked from Zhao Rong to the assistant beside him. ”My twin brother... he contracted an STD a couple of days ago. He’s in the hospital getting treated.”

Hearing that the man who had assaulted him had an STD, the assistant’s eyes rolled back, and he fainted dead away.

Seeing him collapse, Zhao Rong propped him up with one arm while questioning Wang Gang. ”Which hospital is your brother in? We’re going there now.”

Wang Gang pointed north. ”He’s at the biggest hospital in Xijing City, Xijing Hospital.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong turned to the women. ”Since the kidnapper is in the hospital, let’s go trap our turtle in his jar.”

The three women looked at the unconscious assistant. ”What about him? We have to wake him up.”

Zhao Rong nodded and pressed firmly on the assistant’s philtrum. ”Assistant, we have to go. Wake up.”

The assistant slowly regained consciousness, his eyes filling with tears as he looked at Zhao Rong. ”Zhao Rong, I’m so young! I don’t have kids, I’m not even married... how could I have an STD?”

Zhao Rong was surprised. ”I just heard Wang Gang say his brother Wang Tao has an STD. How did you suddenly get it?”

The assistant replied weakly, ”That bastard Wang Tao... he assaulted me, didn’t he? If he has an STD, he must have given it to me.”

Zhao Rong patted his shoulder reassuringly. ”STDs aren’t that easy to transmit. If you’re worried, we can get your blood tested at the hospital to find out for sure.”

The mention of a blood test terrified the assistant. ”But what if the test confirms it? What if that despicable Wang Tao really did infect me? What will I do then?”

Zhao Rong answered simply, ”You get treatment, of course. STDs are quite treatable these days. A course of penicillin or an IV drip can cure it completely. The key is to get treated promptly. The longer you wait, the harder it gets.”

Hearing that the treatment was so straightforward, the assistant’s fear subsided. He got to his feet and looked at Zhao Rong and the three women. ”Alright, let’s go to the hospital right now. When we get there, the four of you can go capture that bastard Wang Tao, and I’ll head to the dermatology department to get myself checked out.”

With that, Zhao Rong led the group outside, hailed a taxi, and they headed straight for Xijing Hospital.

Upon arriving, they quickly found out Wang Tao’s ward number from the front desk. Zhao Rong got the assistant registered for a dermatology appointment, then led the three women upstairs to find Wang Tao. The assistant, clutching his specialist consultation ticket, headed off to see the doctor.

Xijing Hospital was massive and crowded. As they searched for Wang Tao’s ward, Zhao Rong mused aloud, ”It’s better to have anything than an illness. In this world, aside from life and death, everything else is a small matter.”

Lili watched the cancer patients who, despite chemotherapy and radiation, were not getting better. Moved by the sight, she said, ”In this life, health is truly number one. What’s the point of winning the whole world if you lose your own health?”

Yu Lan saw patients with terminal illnesses, merely waiting for death, and a chill ran down her spine. ”Alas, you come into this world with nothing, and you leave with nothing. You can’t take anything with you.”

Xuelian’s gaze fell upon a child with leukemia, her eyes filled with a desperate plea. Her heart aching, she said, ”Zhao Rong, if only you could concoct an Elixir that could cure childhood leukemia.”

Xuelian’s words sparked an idea in Zhao Rong. He stopped walking and looked at the little girl in the distance. Seeing the desperation to live in the child’s eyes, he felt he had to stop. He would save this leukemia patient first, then go after Wang Tao. As he walked toward the little girl, he began searching through the alchemy manual in his mind. Just as he reached her side, he found it: a recipe for an Elixir that could cure leukemia.

Zhao Rong gently touched the little girl’s head. ”Little one, don’t be afraid. I’m going to concoct a medicine right now that will cure your leukemia.”

Before he could finish his sentence, the girl’s parents burst out from the hospital room, pointing at him and shouting, ”You charlatan! Are you here to scam us? The only cures for leukemia are bone marrow transplants and umbilical cord blood! Why are you lying to our daughter, telling her your medicine can save her? You’re just giving her false hope and hurting her!”

The girl’s grandparents rushed out as well, looking like they wanted to beat him. ”You fraud! Do you think our family hasn’t suffered enough?” the grandmother cried. ”My husband and I have only one daughter, and her husband is also an only child. Together, they had just one child of their own... and now she’s about to be taken from us. How are we four elders supposed to go on living?”

Zhao Rong understood the family’s pain. He calmly faced the four distraught adults and said, ”Please, believe me. I will concoct the medicine right now and cure your granddaughter’s leukemia.”
