Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 354: Chapter 316: Love of Country and Love for Beauty

Zhao Rong looked at his pitiful assistant, then glanced at the three beautiful women. He shrugged. ”Assistant, I was going to give this Demon Crystal to you, but the three beauties said no. My hands are tied, sorry...”

Seeing the Demon Crystal that was almost in his grasp suddenly taken away, the assistant sighed dramatically to the heavens. ”He prefers the beauty to the throne. Brother Zhao Rong, even though I am your sworn brother, you would still toss me aside for a pretty face...”

Before he could finish, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian rushed over and gave him a sound thrashing.

As the three women were pummeling the assistant, Zhao Rong suddenly noticed that the bandits in black and white had already escaped to the opposite mountain peak. He was startled. Staring at the two figures on the distant summit, he exclaimed in surprise, ”Holy cow, those two are incredibly fast! In the blink of an eye, they’ve made it all the way to that faraway mountain...”

「On the distant mountaintop」

The two bandits were panting heavily. ”Those guys were so busy fighting that Ancient Forest Ape they completely forgot about us,” one laughed.

”Good thing we’re quick on our feet,” the bandit in black chuckled. ”Otherwise, we’d never have escaped.”

The bandit in white looked proudly at Zhao Rong’s distant party and boasted, ”Those fools are so far away now. Even if they wanted to catch us, they couldn’t.”

The black-clad bandit then looked toward Zhao Rong and jeered, ”Kid, you think you’re so tough, don’t you? So you beat the Ancient Forest Ape and the Southern Ancient Ape. So what? No matter how tough you are, you can’t catch the two of us!”

His companion in white laughed raucously. ”That’s right, youngster! Even if you’re fast, even if you have Flying Legs, you can’t catch us!”

Just as the two bandits were gloating, Zhao Rong, still standing far away, gritted his teeth. ”So you think you can run? I’ll use Instant Teleportation right now and grab you both.”

As Zhao Rong prepared to use Instant Teleportation, Lili also noticed the bandits had fled. She said regretfully, ”Brother Zhao Rong, how could we have been so careless as to let those two get away?”

Yu Lan also chimed in, ”When you were fighting the apes, we really shouldn’t have come out to watch. We should have stayed in the cave and guarded the bandits. They never would have escaped then.”

Xuelian picked up a rock and hurled it toward the distant figures. ”If I’d known they could run so fast, I would have broken their legs first! At least then they wouldn’t have gotten far, and we could have caught them.”

When the surrounding natives saw how far the bandits had run, they sighed. ”Young man, you should give up. They’re too far away now. Even with Flying Legs, you couldn’t possibly catch them.”

But just as everyone assumed the bandits had escaped for good, faster than words could describe, Zhao Rong activated Instant Teleportation.

At that moment, the two bandits were strolling along and whistling, feeling quite pleased with themselves.

That Zhao Rong is such a dumbass. No matter how fast he is, he’ll never catch us now. After all, we’ve already made it to this distant mountain.

Thinking this, they looked at each other and shared a sly grin. But before their grins could fade, they each felt a hand grab them from behind.

The bandit in white glared at his partner. ”Are you bored? Why are you grabbing my collar?”

The one in black shot him a look back. ”Who’s grabbing you? You’re the one grabbing me!”

As they were blaming each other, a smiling Zhao Rong interjected, ”Look at you two, the pot calling the kettle black.”

Hearing a third voice, the bandits spun around. When they saw that the person grabbing them was none other than Zhao Rong, they were utterly dumbfounded.

The bandit in white stammered in disbelief, ”Man, are you human or an alien? How did you get from that mountain to this one so fast? It’s unscientific! It defies all logic!”

Zhao Rong slapped the bandit across the face. ”There are plenty of things in this world that defy science and logic.”

The bandit in black stared, his eyes bulging as if they were about to pop out of their sockets. ”H-How did you get here?” he stammered. ”Don’t tell me you’re the reincarnation of Tu Xing Sun, who could travel through the earth!”

Zhao Rong kicked him in the rear. ”Tu Xing Sun was short and ugly! You’re the reincarnation of Tu Xing Sun!”

With that, Zhao Rong knocked both bandits to the ground. They scrambled back to their feet, exchanged a look, and one said, ”So what if he caught us? It’s still just him against the two of us, and we’re armed! There’s no way he can beat us both!”

As he spoke, the bandit in black pulled a sharp dagger from his waist, while the one in white drew a machete. Brandishing their weapons, they grinned at Zhao Rong. ”We were just going to run for it, but you had to deliver yourself right to our doorstep. Perfect. My brother and I haven’t killed anyone in a long time. This desolate wilderness is a great place to chop you up and feed you to the beasts.”

Zhao Rong simply smiled at the two arrogant, armed bandits. ”Originally, I was just going to teach you a light lesson. But since you’ve drawn weapons and intend to kill me, it seems I have no choice but to defend myself.”

Even if I kill them both right here, I won’t be held legally responsible. After all, they’re the ones attacking me with knives. This is legitimate self-defense.

Before Zhao Rong could even finish the thought, the bandit in black charged at him with his dagger.

Facing the charging bandit, Zhao Rong simply extended his index finger and poked the man’s abdomen, piercing straight through it.

The bandit collapsed, clutching his punctured stomach and crying out in pain. ”My god! Zhao Rong, what kind of weapon was that? My stomach was pierced before I even got close to you!”

Zhao Rong held up his index finger and blew on it nonchalantly. ”It’s called One-Finger Zen.”

At that moment, the bandit in white swung his machete at Zhao Rong’s neck. ”Let’s see which is stronger: your One-Finger Zen or my machete!” he shouted arrogantly. ”I’m going to cut your head off and put it on display!”

Hearing such venomous words, Zhao Rong gritted his teeth. ”Against villains like you, it’s an eye for an eye, blood for blood.”

As he spoke, he leaped into the air with a flying kick. His foot connected squarely with the white-clothed bandit’s head, sending it flying like a soccer ball.

The black-clad bandit, still lying on the ground clutching his stomach, watched his companion die effortlessly. He immediately scrambled to his knees and began to beg for his life. ”Grandpa, I was blind not to recognize a peerless master! I may be a kidnapper, but I have a wife and children at home. Please, spare me! If I die, who will provide for them?”

Just then, the assistant, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian all arrived.

When Zhao Rong saw them, he exclaimed in surprise, ”Can you all use Instant Teleportation too? How did you get here so fast?”

The assistant smiled and pointed to a nearby ostrich. ”The natives found an ostrich for me. I rode it over.”

Seeing an ostrich in a tropical rainforest, Zhao Rong was so astonished his eyes nearly popped out of his head.

Lili pointed to a kangaroo behind her. ”I hopped into this one’s pouch, and it carried me over.”

Zhao Rong stared at the kangaroo, dumbfounded. ”Holy cow! Aren’t kangaroos from the Australian grasslands? What’s one doing in a tropical rainforest? This is amazing...”

Then, Yu Lan gestured to a massive cockroach behind her. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I rode this over.”

When Zhao Rong saw a cockroach the size of a cow, he instinctively stumbled back three steps in horror. ”My god! I’ve never seen a cockroach that big in my life! It... it doesn’t eat people, does it?”

Yu Lan laughed. ”Don’t worry, Brother Zhao Rong. These giant cockroaches are the natives’ pets. They don’t eat people. In fact, they’re very cute.”

Realizing the local pets were giant cockroaches, Zhao Rong took a deep breath, swallowed hard, and turned to Xuelian. ”And you? What did you ride over here?”

Xuelian answered shyly, ”That proboscis monkey was courting a female. When he started chasing her, I just grabbed onto his back and hitched a ride.” She then pointed to the pair of monkeys, who were currently mating. ”I just hope I didn’t interrupt them.”

Zhao Rong wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. ”This world is full of wonders. You’ve all left me speechless.”

Just then, the black-clad kidnapper still kneeling on the ground cried out, ”Spare me, and I’ll tell you who the mastermind behind the kidnapping is!”
