Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 646: Chapter 643: The Envy of Everyone

”Ningning, what exactly is going on here?”

Huang Hongying was overwhelmed by the sight of the greenhouse and couldn’t figure out the situation, so she couldn’t help but turn to Huo Sining, who was standing beside her, and ask.

Huo Sining had prepared her story well in advance. Seeing Huang Hongying asking, she deliberately omitted the part where the Petal Lotus Orchid’s petals were broken and how she had used the Spirit of Azure Pearl to repair it, instead telling the truth about her visit to the Flower and Bird Market.

”I heard you like to grow flowers, Auntie, so I went to the Flower and Bird Market to buy you a pot of calla lilies. At that flower shop, someone happened to be carrying a pot of orchids through the door and bumped into me. The collision knocked the person’s orchid to the ground, and quite a few leaves were broken off, and the pot shattered.”

”I insisted on paying for the damage, but the owner of the orchid said that the Petal Lotus Orchid was badly diseased, probably thinking that it was beyond saving, and just left it behind. So, I picked up a bargain by taking the orchid home with me. I never expected to oddly stumble upon such a fortune.”

Huo Sining scratched the back of her head and chuckled, but Huang Hongying still didn’t dismiss her doubts upon hearing this explanation.

The person who could grow a Petal Lotus Orchid with blossoms and leaves as splendid as butterflies surely wouldn’t be so careless. A single Petal Lotus Orchid was quite valuable; how could someone just casually throw it away?

Besides, within a mere week, the disease of the Petal Lotus Orchid had mysteriously healed, not to mention it had bloomed so many exquisite flowers. Wasn’t that very strange?

Huang Hongying was convinced that Huo Sining was not telling her the whole truth, but the blooming orchid in front of her was a fact. Moreover, with so many people around, it wasn’t appropriate for her to keep pressing Huo Sining, so she just nodded slightly and let it go.

”I had a friend arrange this greenhouse, Auntie. How do you like it, is everything to your satisfaction?” Huo Sining asked with a smile.

Huang Hongying nodded. How could she not be satisfied? This was probably the most satisfying gift she had received in recent years, especially since the flowers in the greenhouse were very well-cared for and clearly not ordinary. Huang Hongying, not someone unfamiliar with the world, knew these flowers weren’t cheap.

”These flowers are very beautiful, but I can’t let you spend so much. I appreciate the thought, but I can’t let you cover the cost. Let me know how much you spent, and I’ll have your cousin pay you back. Also, take that Petal Lotus Orchid back with you when you leave.”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining immediately felt unhappy and pouted, ”Auntie, what do you mean by this? Are you looking down on your niece? I can afford this amount of money. And this greenhouse really didn’t cost me much, it was done by a friend of mine who specializes in growing flowers. He only charged me a nominal fee for his trouble. Besides, this is a birthday gift for you, how can it be taken back?”

Huang Hongying smiled, ”Don’t try to fool your aunt. Just by bringing this flower over for me to see, you’ve made me very happy. But I know my place, and how could I dare to hope to own it?”

Huang Hongying believed that the flower must have been borrowed from some other flower-growing expert, so she didn’t take Huo Sining’s words seriously.

But Huo Sining was amused, ”Why don’t you believe me? That Petal Lotus Orchid is truly a gift for you.”

Huang Hongying looked at Huo Sining with a smile and arched an eyebrow, ”Truly for me? You must not know the value of that orchid, do you?”

A regular Petal Lotus Orchid could cost anywhere from tens of thousands to over a hundred thousand, not to mention the finest Petal Lotus Orchid, the Liang Zhu.

Earlier, at the Spring City Flower Expo, a pot of Liang Zhu was eventually sold for eight million yuan.

Moreover, the Petal Lotus Orchid that Huo Sining had brought was blooming even more abundantly and larger than the Liang Zhu, obviously very valuable.

Huo Sining pressed her lips together in a smile, ”I don’t know how much this flower is worth, but I truly meant it as a gift for you.”

”You’re really giving it to me?” Huang Hongying was surprised. Even if the girl didn’t understand, she should have heard everything clearly when Sister Afen explained; she couldn’t possibly be ignorant of the value of the flower. Yet she offered the flower so straightforwardly, without any hesitation. Doesn’t she feel any reluctance at all?”

”Would I joke about this with you? It’s precious, and I, an outsider to this, have done nothing but water it for the past few days—can’t care for it at all. If I keep it, who knows, I might just end up killing it one day, ruining the orchid. Better you take care of it.”

”Exactly, Mom,” Su Qingqing laughed, ”Ningning really is giving it to you. You should accept it. Next time you attend one of those get-togethers with your flower friends, you can take this orchid along to show off, and let those snooty old men see the flowers Mrs. Su raises. It’ll blow their minds for sure!”

Su Qingqing’s last remark touched on Huang Hongying’s little schemes and made her feel a bit embarrassed.

Her face tinted slightly red, but Huo Sining could tell that Huang Hongying liked the Petal Lotus Orchid very much, for whenever she looked at the plant, her eyes and brows were full of smiles.

The day after the birthday banquet, Huang Hongying couldn’t wait to call up those flower friends to come over to her house to admire the orchids.

As soon as they heard that Huang Hongying had a premium orchid in bloom, those old friends who usually got along well with her all perked up, and so a considerable group arrived at the Su Family’s home to admire the orchids.

Coincidentally, Yan Xuesong was visiting a lady’s home when he heard about the orchid appreciation and had the cheek to come along.

Huang Hongying had been waiting in the living room early on. Seeing Yan Xuesong and his group, she greeted them with a smile, offering tea snacks and chatting about this and that, keeping them in suspense before finally turning around to lead everyone upstairs to the flower room.

Seeing Huang Hongying head upstairs, those who were familiar with the Su Family’s setup knew that this meant going up to the rooftop. Immediately, everyone started making suggestive gestures to each other.

Although Huang Hongying claimed that her orchid had bloomed, everyone was well aware of her actual level of gardening skills and assumed she was likely exaggerating about her plant, so the ladies were all waiting to see the joke.

But what they did not expect was to be astonished upon reaching the rooftop and seeing the flower room lush and transformed.

At that moment, Huang Hongying led everyone towards the Petal Lotus Orchid.

Accompanied by a rich orchid fragrance, nearly a dozen colorful butterflies fluttered over.

The moment they saw the Petal Lotus Orchid in the corner of the flower room, everyone’s eyes popped out! Several of them were so excited they started to dance around.

”How about it? My flower is remarkable, isn’t it!” Huang Hongying gaily asked her friends, who were already beyond maintaining their composure.

”Leaves and flowers with twin butterflies, actually blossoming with twelve flowers—playing with orchids all these years, this is the first time I’ve seen a Banlian Chunlan bloom so magnificently!”

”The branches are elegantly shaped, the leaves are lush and green, the flowers bloom vibrantly, with red spots blending out—this flower is bloomed perfectly! Madam Xie, this is a real dark horse, a stunning surprise!”

”This flower could definitely be a contender in a floral exhibition!”

The onlookers spared no compliments, utterly fascinated as they admired the orchid before them, unable to help but shower it with praise—Yan Xuesong was no exception.
