Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 613: Chapter 611: Just Because I’m the President

The woman, upon hearing Qin Lianshan’s words, immediately started to look a bit panicky.

She glanced up at Qin Lianshan and his companions and faintly guessed that the identities of these people might be somewhat special, and she quickly felt guilty.

But for the sake of face, she still carried a touch of defiance, jutted her chin, and argued:

”This booth was approved by the Jade Association through a resolution. It’s just that it was discussed last night at the last minute, so the notice hasn’t been sent out yet. Elder, if you don’t believe me, just go and ask the Jade Association organizers.”

The woman didn’t know who Qin Lianshan was. Seeing the imposing manner and demeanor of Qin Lianshan, she assumed he was some government inspector and didn’t take him seriously.

After all, this was something she had already worked out with Cai Limin ahead of time. As long as there were no issues on Cai Limin’s end, even if the Chen family was the one commandeering the booth today, Jade Beauty would have no choice but to endure the bitterness in silence.

Qin Lianshan did indeed work in government many years ago until he stepped down a few years back due to health concerns.

However, after a lifetime of political struggle, the aura of authority he exuded was the result of decades of experience; it’s no wonder the woman mistook him for an official.

Yet, upon hearing the woman’s flippant fabrications, Qin Lianshan couldn’t help but laugh angrily, the severity in his eyes intensifying.

”Alright, alright. I want to ask, what right does Cai Limin, a mere Vice Chairman, have to call a high-level meeting overnight? Who else approved this resolution with him? Is it because I’ve stopped being involved these few years that he thinks he can use the Jade Association for his own personal gain and act recklessly?!”

Choked by anger, Qin Lianshan pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number. The person on the other end probably didn’t expect Qin Lianshan’s call and practically took the call the moment the phone connected.

”Elder Qin, I was just looking for you. The ribbon-cutting is about to start; you should hurry over.”

Qin Lianshan’s phone was an old model with a loud volume. Even though he held the phone quite far away, Cai Limin’s flattering voice could still be heard.

”Cai Limin, I’m giving you one minute to get to booth number twelve immediately, or you’ll face the consequences!” After saying that, Qin Lianshan didn’t bother to waste words with Cai Limin, not even deigning to explain and simply hung up the phone without another word.

What was this all about?

Cai Limin was somewhat at a loss, not understanding why Qin Lianshan was so furiously upset.

As he carefully reconsidered what Qin Lianshan had said on the phone, a cold sweat broke out over him.

Booth number twelve, wasn’t that the booth that his niece mentioned to him yesterday?

Cai Limin was instantly terrified, not daring to delay any longer, practically tumbling and scrambling to the booth area.

Sweating profusely, he ran to booth number twelve and, sure enough, saw his own niece standing outside the booth from a distance.

On the other side, Qin Lianshan and Wu Dekai were also there, seemingly confronting his niece.

Cai Limin felt a darkness before his eyes, as if the sky had collapsed. He no longer cared about his prospects or the beautiful scenery at the event.

He was very clear in his heart that if he didn’t handle this issue well, he might not even be able to keep his hat as Vice Chairman.

This time, he was really going to be ruined by his niece!

”Uncle...”

Seeing Cai Limin rush over, the woman seemed to find her backbone, and dashed towards him.

It was obvious that the woman was still somewhat afraid of Qin Lianshan, and upon seeing Cai Limin, she shrank behind him in grievance.

However, her call for ”Uncle” instantly exposed her relationship with Cai Limin. Hearing this term of address, Cai Limin nearly spat out blood.

What’s the saying about not fearing a god-like opponent but fearing a pig-like teammate?

Seeing Chen Jingjing’s guilty and fearful expression, Cai Limin felt his blood boil, his face turning beet red.

He hadn’t even spoken yet, and his niece had already spilled the beans about their relationship.

Good-for-nothing in success, but all too efficient in messing things up, Cai Limin always thought his niece was astute, but how could she have done something this foolish?

Didn’t use her brain when making a mess, and now that she can’t solve it, she’s learned to hide?

Alright, no need for explanations; just Chen Jingjing’s call for ”Uncle” let Cai Limin know he couldn’t shirk responsibility for this matter.

”Elder Qin, this is my niece, she’s in charge of Chen’s Jewelry exhibition. She just arrived yesterday and didn’t understand the rules of the jewelry exhibition thoroughly, took a fancy to this booth, and pestered me for help. I idiotically lost my judgment, and in a moment of weakness agreed to her, the fault lies with me. Elder Qin, Miss Huo, the fault is mine today; I abused my power for personal gain, mishandled things, and have tarnished the Jade Association’s reputation.”

Cai Limin knew very well the kind of man that Qin Lianshan was, who would not tolerate any deceit in his eyes. Further denial was useless. Admitting his mistake sincerely was far more effective than any other approach.

Indeed, upon hearing Cai Limin’s apology, Qin Lianshan’s expression softened considerably, and he sighed:

”To err is human, who can claim to be free from fault? I understand your intentions; your sister is married into the Chen family, right? You wanted to help your sister and your niece, that’s understandable, but you must do it in the right and appropriate way. What happened today was absolutely unacceptable. I’m also aware of the struggles you and your sister have had; I won’t pursue this matter further. After the jewelry exhibition is over, take a one-month suspension and spend the time to reflect at home.”

Cai Limin, upon hearing it was just a one-month suspension to reflect, immediately relaxed. As long as his position as Vice Chairman wasn’t revoked, he could return to his post after a month.

It seemed Elder Qin still showed him some leniency; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so merciful.

Cai Limin’s face looked slightly better. He bowed to Qin Lianshan and said, ”Thank you, Elder Qin. Rest assured, I’ll immediately get someone to take care of this. I’ll make sure Miss Huo’s booth is well organized before the exhibition starts. You’ll be satisfied! They’re waiting for you to do the ribbon-cutting over there, they’re all looking for you. Please, head over right away.”

Qin Lianshan nodded and turned to leave, followed by Elder Wu who was also about to depart, but Cai Limin’s niece, Chen Jingjing, was unhappy. She didn’t understand why her uncle would listen to an old coot. And now, he was even suspended for a month — a completely undeserved calamity.

”Uncle, you’re the Vice Chairman of the Jade Association, aren’t you the one who calls the shots in these situations? What right do they have to suspend you for a month?!”

Chen Jingjing was protesting, her face full of defiance.

Cai Limin’s face turned green; he never knew his niece was so brainless, to still run headlong into trouble, completely unaware that she was kicking an iron plate!

”The Jade Association is a democratic and just organization. A mere Vice Chairman doesn’t have that kind of power!”

Qin Lianshan’s eyes turned icy as he suddenly spun around and glared at Chen Jingjing.

”On what grounds? Just because I am the Chairman of the Jade Association, not only can I suspend a little Vice Chairman, but if I dismiss him from his position, he must pack up and leave without a word!”
