Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 616: Chapter 613: The Handwriting of Master Yan

”You make a fair point; heavenly treasures valued by the heart can’t be bought with all the riches in the world. In this respect, your understanding surpasses even us old timers. We haven’t been able to reach such a state of mind in most of our lifetimes,” Qin Lianshan said with admiration, nodding his head.

”Elder Qin, what do you mean by that? Could it be that this set of hairpins really is worth fifty million?”

The onlookers didn’t understand anything about ’states of mind.’ What they cared about was the true value of the hairpins.

”The value of this set of hairpins exceeds fifty million,” Qin Lianshan said with a smile.

”See, I told you! They’re just a few broken hairpins. How could they possibly sell for the ludicrous price of fifty million!”

The lady who had first inquired about the price thought that Qin Lianshan meant the hairpins were not worth fifty million, and her displeasure was evident on her face as she spoke loudly and angrily. Clearly, she was discontent with Huo Sining’s arbitrary pricing.

”Madam, what I said was that the value of this set of hairpins exceeds fifty million, not that it doesn’t reach that value!” Qin Lianshan’s expression turned slightly unpleasant.

”The value of the hairpins themselves is already extremely high. Everyone knows how rare High Ice Type Jadeite and glass-type jadeite are. To gather six pieces of different colors and have the courage to carve them into openwork jadeite, imagine how much material has to be wasted?”

At this point, Qin Lianshan paused, sweeping his gaze around the onlookers, and sighed:

”So, I say, it’s naturally unquestionable that the value of the hairpins themselves is fifty million. But why do I say that this set is worth more than fifty million?”

Qin Lianshan casually picked up a hairpin from the rosewood box: ”Everyone, look at the carving craftsmanship of this hairpin. Isn’t it very exquisite, pleasing to the eye?”

Seeing that those surrounding him were nodding, Qin Lianshan continued to explain:

”Such craftsmanship is known as openwork carving, a very common technique during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. However, this skill was very intricate and complex; it was gradually lost as fewer people passed it down. Now, only a few places still preserve this traditional craftsmanship.”

”Look at the tail of this hairpin, there is a ’Yan’ mark, proving that this set was carved by a Master Yan.”

”Speaking of Master Yan, probably none of you know him, but the wood sculpture master Yan Feng—his name should be familiar to everyone here. He is a young master sculptor whose fame spreads both nationally and internationally. If I’m not wrong, this Yan Feng is the creator of this set of openwork jade hairpins.”

Qin Lianshan’s face revealed a complex expression; he hadn’t expected that Huo Sining, once she made a move, would be so remarkable. This young girl was not only skilled in treasure appraisal and jade gambling but had also managed to coax that ’stubborn hermit’ Yan Feng out of seclusion.

After hearing Qin Lianshan’s words, everyone was surprised and looked towards the rosewood box.

Indeed, at the bottom of the box, there was a certification of appraisal, and on it, in the author’s signature section, was the name Yan Feng.

”Yan Feng? So it’s him! I know of this person. But wasn’t this master always unwilling to come out of Hetian? How did the owner of ’Jade Beauty’ manage to invite him out? Who is the owner of ’Jade Beauty’? That’s really impressive!”

”You might not know since you’re from the Imperial Capital, but ’Jade Beauty’ is very famous in our S City. It rose to fame suddenly just over half a year ago. The owners are the two standing in the booth,” said the onlooker.

”How come it’s two young women? Are they really the owners of ’Jade Beauty’?”

”Of course, why would I lie to you? You may think those two women are young, but their abilities are no small matter! A few months ago at the Ruili gambling event, it was Miss Huo who defeated the granddaughter of the Gambling King, Liu Chongren!”

”Ah, so you’re talking about her! I thought she looked familiar! No wonder that Master Yan agreed to come out of retirement. These master craftsmen don’t easily take action unless they encounter fine materials. Miss Huo must have a lot of good jadeite, which is why she could convince Master Yan to take up the work!”

”...”

This set of exquisite vintage hairpins appeared at a jewelry exhibition hosted by the Jade Association, and naturally, the Beijing Jade Association could also bask in its glory.

The essence of Huaxia Country’s jade ornamentation is its intricate and delicate hollow carving, all done by hand, which even foreign inspection teams marveled at.

Not only the inspection teams brought by Qin Lianshan, but even the crowds outside were buzzing with discussion.

Originally, ’Jade Beauty’ was just an unknown studio, but through word of mouth among the tourists, it quickly became popular.

Soon, the reputation of Jade Beauty spread throughout the entire jewelry exhibition and showed a trend of reaching beyond, attracting reporters like cats to the scent of fish.

Kidding aside, a domestic ordinary jewelry exhibition showcasing jewels worth millions was already quite rare, and now there appeared a set of jewelry worth fifty million. Wasn’t this the headline these news workers had been desperately searching for?

”Astonishing appearance of high-priced jadeite jewelry at the exhibition, a masterpiece of the hollow-carved jade series,” with this piece of news, these newspapers could make a fortune tomorrow.

Huo Sining had never seen such a scene before, with reporters rushing towards her booth with their cameras. If she hadn’t quickly moved aside to pretend to be a tourist, she would probably have been captured by the reporters.

As she watched the reporters snap away crazily, Huo Sining hurriedly gestured to Bai Yishan to deal with them, while she found a gap to slip out from behind the counter and headed towards a less crowded area.

”What’s it like feeling like a celebrity?”

Somehow, Ouyang Jun and Qin Tian suddenly popped up from the side, grinning as they approached Huo Sining and asked.

Huo Sining gave them an annoyed look: ”Fame is too tiring, better to be an ordinary person and enjoy leisurely freedom. I don’t mind them photographing those pieces of jewelry, but I have no interest in fame.”

As long as she wasn’t going to be exposed, Huo Sining certainly didn’t mind taking advantage of the reporters.

As long as ”Twelve Beauties of Jinling” made headlines tomorrow, and those newspapers were sold in every street and alley, the reputation of ’Jade Beauty’ would become well-known. This kind of free advertising was too good not to take, as it was harmless to her anyway.

Ouyang Jun certainly understood Huo Sining’s intentions and said with a smile, ”You can rest assured on that. My grandfather will naturally speak to those reporters. They won’t show your full face nor reveal any personal information about you. Just wait to reap the fisherman’s benefit.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but purse her lips: ”You have a nerve to say that. I’m also doing unpaid promotion for Elder Qin’s Jade Association. We’re in a win-win situation here, six of one, half a dozen of the other!”
