Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 632: Chapter 629 Jiang Chuan’s Purpose

Although the man wore a pair of scholarly glasses, Huo Sining saw in his eyes intense pettiness and scheming, which instinctively made her dislike him.

”Ningning, you’re here!” Upon seeing Huo Sining walk in, Luo Jinzhi abruptly stood up, her face filled with unease, presenting a very awkward appearance.

Seeing Luo Jinzhi’s expression, Huo Sining knew that today’s arrangement must have been orchestrated solely by the man beside her, without giving Luo Jinzhi any prior notice, which explained why Luo Jinzhi looked so anxious and hesitant.

The waiter, however, was very professional, maintaining a courteous smile on his face without showing any disdain despite Luo Jinzhi’s stingy demeanor.

”Ningning, let me introduce you, this is Jiang Chuan, also from our Mathematics department—he—”

Luo Jinzhi’s introduction was muddled, and over there, Jiang Chuan couldn’t help frowning and, without thinking, interrupted Luo Jinzhi and Huo Sining’s conversation. He reached out his hand directly towards Huo Sining, saying to himself:

”Huo Sining, I know you. Your magic performance at last year’s welcome party was stunning, leaving a lasting impression!”

”Hello, my name is Jiang Chuan, the president of the student council for the Mathematics students. I am very pleased to meet you.”

When Luo Jinzhi’s conversation was interrupted by Jiang Chuan, her face instantly turned red, she seemed both embarrassed and flustered.

Seeing this situation, Huo Sining immediately felt displeased.

What’s there to show off about being a student council president? Besides, I came here to adhere to Luo Jinzhi’s invitation; I’m not at all interested in who you are or what position you hold.

Huo Sining had a rather negative impression of this man named Jiang Chuan. A cultured gentleman would not have rudely interrupted others while they were speaking. Moreover, this Jiang Chuan was domineering and impolite, with a condescending attitude, making it difficult for others to feel good about him.

She nodded faintly, did not shake hands with him, and pulled out a chair to sit on the side closer to Luo Jinzhi and away from Jiang Chuan.

The waiter brought over the menu, and Jiang Chuan was the first to take it and hand it to Huo Sining. She passed the menu to Luo Jinzhi: ”I’m not picky, I can eat anything, you should order, Jin Zhi.”

Luo Jinzhi hesitated but, unable to resist Huo Sining, took the menu and flipped it open.

But as soon as she did, she was stunned.

Seeing the prices listed next to the dishes, Luo Jinzhi’s hands, holding the menu, nearly gave out and dropped it to the floor.

”Jiang... Jiang Chuan, you know, I suddenly feel not hungry at all, how about we go to a different restaurant?”

Luo Jinzhi was both embarrassed and annoyed. She wished she could cut off her own tongue for agreeing impulsively to Jiang Chuan’s offer to treat her to dinner when she saw the astounding figures on the menu.

The more Luo Jinzhi thought about it, the more her heart ached, and finally, clenching her teeth, she closed the menu and whispered to the waiter: ”Just bring a plate of stir-fried meat and plain boiled cabbage with water!”

”Pfft—” Huo Sining had just picked up her teacup to drink when she was caught off guard by the dishes Luo Jinzhi ordered.

The waiter was also taken aback, and the professional smile on his face finally began to wane, giving Luo Jinzhi an odd look.

Huo Sining did not miss the contemptuous glance Jiang Chuan cast at Luo Jinzhi, his eyes filled with disdain.

It was clear to her that this man held no true feelings for Luo Jinzhi, as Huo Sining found it hard to detect any affection or adoration towards Luo Jinzhi in Jiang Chuan’s eyes.

With her black eyes growing deeper, she gestured to the waiter, cancelling the two dishes ordered by Luo Jinzhi, and then ordered five special dishes and a soup.

Having looked at the menu, Luo Jinzhi obviously knew that the dishes Huo Sining had just ordered were the restaurant’s specialties and naturally would not come cheap.

Although Jiang Chuan said he would pay for this meal, Luo Jinzhi did not intend for it to be that way. She had brought Huo Sining here and naturally could not let Jiang Chuan pay, but now that Huo Sining had already ordered, Luo Jinzhi had no choice but to brace herself, regardless of her reluctance.

Luo Jinzhi was still mentally tallying how much living expenses she had left and how long she would need to tutor to make up for this financial hit, when Jiang Chuan could no longer hold back and spoke up, ”I hear Miss Huo is from Bashu?”

With a polite smile, Huo Sining slightly nodded in acknowledgment of Jiang Chuan’s words, though internally she couldn’t help but scoff. Hear about it? You’ve probably not just heard about it, but had it thoroughly investigated beforehand, haven’t you?

Jiang Chuan chuckled, ”It’s truly said that the waters of Sichuan nurture beautiful ladies. I heard from Jin Zhi that Miss Huo is a Sichuan girl. When I first saw Miss Huo perform magic at the new student welcoming event, I felt it had a unique charm. Now that I see you in person, I realize the statement is well deserved. It makes me somewhat curious to visit Bashu myself.”

Huo Sining’s face bore a socially polite smile, but she was already impatient in her heart.

What ’beautiful ladies’ or ’unique charms’? In the presence of his girlfriend, Jiang Chuan could still say such things. Wasn’t he afraid of Luo Jinzhi reading into it too much?

Once again, Huo Sining confirmed that Jiang Chuan was not sincere in his feelings for Luo Jinzhi; his true aim was likely none other than herself!

”Miss Huo, with such exquisite magic skills, have you never considered further development in this field?”

Jiang Chuan took a bite of his food, and while eating, he seemed to be deliberately teasing as he slowly started speaking.

Here it comes! Huo Sining sneered inwardly. So this Jiang Chuan really was targeting her, wasn’t he?

”What do you mean by that, Senior Jiang?” Huo Sining guessed his purpose, but on the surface, she feigned confusion, following up with his words.

A smile played on Jiang Chuan’s heart, and a hint of pride appeared on his face. He pulled out a business card from his jacket pocket and handed it to Huo Sining:

”I forgot to mention that apart from being the president of the Math Department’s Student Council, I am also a modest agent at Yinhua Entertainment Company.”

”Miss Huo, your magic skills are truly astounding and have caught my interest. I believe your magic has great potential, and if you’re interested, I think we could collaborate.”

A cold glint passed through Huo Sining’s eyes as she smiled faintly and asked, ”How so?”

”You are young and beautiful, the perfect target for today’s youth. Our agency has an extensive network and is very powerful. If Miss Huo you were to join us, we would package you in a series of ways, ensuring that you quickly become a household name in magic.”

”Not only on domestic platforms, but we can also help you make it onto the international stage. If the opportunity is ripe, we could even project you onto the screen, and even take a shot at Hollywood. I believe you have great potential, Miss Huo, and none of this is empty talk. You can trust that our company has the capability to do all this.”
