Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 608: Chapter 606 Dismissal

Zhao Mingcheng was somewhat stupefied and wanted to ask Wang Ping what he should do.

Just at that moment, his phone rang. The friend from the business department he had contacted hemmed and hawed for a while before saying,

”Brother Zhao, let’s forget about that matter you mentioned. That shop... that’s the Huang Family’s property, we can’t afford to provoke them.”

After saying this, the person on the other side hung up directly. Zhao Mingcheng wanted to call back to ask about the situation, but the other party had already turned off their phone, making it impossible to get through.

Just a moment ago, he was arrogantly considering taking someone down, but now Zhao Mingcheng felt the malice of the entire world.

He believed that as long as one had money, there was nothing one couldn’t do in this world, but in the face of absolute power, they could snuff him out with just a flick of their finger.

Soon, Zhao Mingcheng discovered the serious consequences of his rash actions as he received a call from the headquarters.

”Mr. Zhao Mingcheng, this is Zhang Tianhe from the Human Resources Department of Shengtang Group. I’m officially notifying you that, due to special reasons, you have been dismissed from the Group. The penalty for breach of contract will be directly deposited into your account. From today onwards, you need not come to work!”

”What?! Manager Zhang, why? Why have I been dismissed by the company?”

Zhao Mingcheng was dumbfounded; he had no idea what was going on.

On the other side, Zhang Tianhe remained silent for a second before speaking, ”I’m not very clear about the specific reasons, but the order came directly from the President’s office, and it’s said that the President is very angry. You should think about whether you have done anything wrong recently.”

Zhao Mingcheng racked his brain but couldn’t come up with a clue. Just a while ago, during a senior management meeting, Mr. Gu had told him that the company was planning to break into the Haicheng market soon, and he might be sent to the branch office to act as manager.

Thrilled by the news, Zhao Mingcheng had no idea that not only was the branch office position gone, but even his current job had gone down the drain!

What on earth is going on?!

Zhao Mingcheng was clueless, but Wang Ping beside him seemed to have an inkling. Zhao Mingcheng’s dismissal from Shengtang Group could very likely be related to the woman with the surname Huo he had offended just now.

Thinking this, Wang Ping was grateful and terrified at the same time, thinking to himself that in the future, he absolutely must not act too impulsively. In Imperial Capital, if one wanted to live a stable life, they had to be watchful and not rashly take the lead in everything.

Inwardly, Wang Ping felt a surge of sympathy for the unlucky Zhao Mingcheng, yet he did not know that Zhao Mingcheng’s disaster had only just begun.

Zhao Mingcheng returned home in a daze, feeling a bit itchy on his body and scratching it subconsciously without paying much attention. He was feeling uneasy and wanted to call to ask about the situation, but he didn’t dare to ask Gu Xu face-to-face, so he could only call Song Hui.

Upon hearing that Zhao Mingcheng had been dismissed, Song Hui was somewhat surprised because he had not heard any news. Zhao Mingcheng was considered a veteran employee at the company, currently holding a senior position, with strong work capabilities. He was also highly valued by Song Hui and Gu Xu. How could he have been dismissed just like that?

Song Hui had his doubts, but he did not reveal his thoughts, responding indifferently before hanging up Zhao Mingcheng’s call. Then, discreetly, he went to Gu Xu’s office to inquire about the situation.

After learning the specifics of the situation, Song Hui couldn’t help but inwardly curse that it was well deserved.

Gu Xu truly adored his wife, treating her like the apple of his eye, and that fool Zhao Mingcheng had the audacity to bully Huo Sining; how could Gu Xu tolerate him?

It was no wonder Gu Xu was angry, and even if Gu Xu hadn’t fired Zhao Mingcheng, Song Hui himself wouldn’t have been able to restrain himself from taking action had he learned about the matter.

Ever since Huo Sining had cured Lu Ruiqi’s health issue, the Lu Family had been grateful for her kindness. Now, the girl’s status in the Lu Family was even higher than his, and his usually picky aunt was full of praises for Huo Sining.

Song Hui also held deep admiration for Huo Sining’s mysterious Qigong Massage Technique, acknowledging that with such an ability, he couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t come a day when he would need the young woman’s help.

Although Song Hui was a cynical playboy who never believed in anything supernatural, who could guarantee they’d never fall ill in a lifetime?

In order to live to a ripe old age, he felt it was best to ingratiate himself with the girl; he wouldn’t want to offend her and suffer for it later.

One has to admit, Song Hui was quite prescient. His subtle efforts to ingratiate himself indeed earned him a fair amount of goodwill from Huo Sining, which laid the foundation for him to miraculously recover his life from Yama’s Palace in the future.

After checking the store, Huo Sining first visited Zhou Shitao’s home to report on her learning progress over the period and undergo testing, which pleased Zhou Shitao greatly as he looked at Huo Sining with a smile.

Huo Sining quickly took out the porcelain pillow with opal glaze she had found from her backpack (from her Space) and handed it over to Zhou Shitao. Both items had been concealed using the Hidden Mist technique, and Huo Sining, unsure of the nature of the material covering them and reluctant to damage the items by removing it, left this challenge to Zhou Shitao, for whom it wasn’t much of an issue.

”All right, just leave these items with me. I’ll call you to pick them up once I’ve finished,” Zhou Shitao said, waving his hand.

Huo Sining nodded, slung her backpack over her shoulders, and was ready to leave when Zhou Shitao suddenly thought of something and called out to her, ”Wait a moment.”

”Huh?” Huo Sining stopped as instructed and turned around, puzzled, to look at Zhou Shitao, ”Master, is there anything else?”

”I just remembered there’s another matter,” Zhou Shitao said, his expression unchanged as he took out an invitation from his drawer and handed it to Huo Sining.

”’Folk Treasure Hunt’?” Huo Sining paused as she saw the four characters on the invitation. She opened the invitation, glanced at it, and then looked up at Zhou Shitao with confusion, unsure of his intentions.

”Yes, as you can see, this TV station wants to create a treasure appraisal show, collecting antiques from the lives of ordinary people and then inviting expert appraisal teams to evaluate those antiques,” Zhou Shitao explained with a hint of impatience on his face.

”They went through many hands to get this invitation to me. I’m not interested in these things and can’t be bothered with them, but they kept on asking, and it wouldn’t be right to disregard their sincerity. I’ve already told them I would find someone to go in my place,” he added.

Huo Sining’s heart skipped a beat, and she looked up in surprise, ”Teacher, are you saying that I should...”

Huo Sining pointed to herself with her index finger, hardly believing it.

Zhou Shitao nodded, ”I’m old and have long lost interest in these worldly affairs. But you are different—you are my disciple, and I can’t restrict your future development because of my own reasons. You’ve been with me for a while now, and I’ve come to understand your ability to appraise. I believe that sending you to participate in that program will definitely not tarnish your master’s reputation.”
