Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 639: Chapter 636: Rush to the Suburban Fair

Seeing rotten roots recover, withered branches sprout new buds, and Golden Osmanthus bloom in August during the Gregorian July, Huo Sining’s excitement was beyond words.

Without using her Heavenly Eye Skill, Huo Sining knew that she had healed the Old Golden Osmanthus!

After replanting the Old Golden Osmanthus back into the flower pot, she watched as it came back to life, and her whole demeanor became joyfully animated.

However, the fragrance of the osmanthus in July was too abnormal. Fearing that Auntie Li might become suspicious, Huo Sining didn’t hesitate to put it back into her storage ring after reviving it.

Wanting to set up a flower room for Huang Hongying, of course, buying a single Droplet Guanyin wouldn’t suffice. With the Spirit of Azure Pearl, Huo Sining could set up the flower room in a few days, but she still needed to go and purchase plant seedlings and seeds.

Originally, Huo Sining had planned to visit the Flower and Bird Market. Unexpectedly, last night while browsing online, she stumbled across a local post mentioning a market at the urban-rural border that specialized in selling flowers, birds, insects, fish, cats, dogs, and the like, with a big gathering every second day.

Huo Sining’s interest was immediately piqued. Although the urban-rural border was a bit far, the prices at the market were definitely cheaper than those at places like the Flower and Bird Market, so she decided to check it out.

Therefore, she got up early the next day, had a simple breakfast of millet porridge and pickles, wolfed down a few bites, and after tidying up a bit, she drove to the urban-rural border.

After about an hour’s drive, she arrived at the outskirts of the city.

In fact, the urban-rural border is the intersection between the city district and the county town, featuring a relatively broad street with traders from various places setting up their stalls, each occupying a spot, no different from a country fair.

Though both sides of the entire street were occupied, thankfully, there was still space left in the middle for pedestrians to pass through and browse freely.

Along both sides of the broad street, pots and pots of flowering plants and bonsai were displayed, some being herbaceous flowers planted in small pots, large pots with old bonsai, and even some pots containing oddly shaped, mottled patterned stones.

The market wasn’t large, but as Huo Sining walked through it, she noticed that there was a complete variety of bonsai.

Bonsai weren’t just tree stumps; there were also landscape bonsai. Those mountain and rock structured bonsai being sold at the market were a type of landscape bonsai.

However, with a quick glance, Huo Sining found that whether it was tree stump bonsai or rock bonsai, they were all quite ordinary and not exquisite.

These bonsai were cheap, usually costing just tens to hundreds of yuan, and their forms were not elegant. Compared to the Old Golden Osmanthus at Boss Zhao’s Guose Tianxiang, it was like comparing the heavens and the earth—vastly different.

Huo Sining went to the market to buy old plants. Inspired by Zhao Guotian’s Old Golden Osmanthus, she felt that since she was setting up Huang Hongying’s flower room, it would be better to buy old plants.

By buying one old plant, she could use Spiritual Energy to clone thousands of Old Golden Osmanthus, Old Ink Plum, or even Old Orchids.

Other flower farmers needed to graft in order to produce old plants, buying fringes as rootstock and finding osmanthus branches for scions. Such work was tedious and time-consuming, with a low survival rate.

Moreover, grafting Old Golden Osmanthus had time constraints—it depended on when the rootstock began to sprout, which started around mid-March to early April. Thus, the osmanthus buds needed to be grafted before the rootstock sprouted, or else they would hardly survive.

But Huo Sining had no need for these processes. The Spirit of Azure Pearl could promote the growth speed of the old plants’ branches and leaves. She just had to cut the branches and leaves for propagation, convinced that the old plants would survive without worrying about their survival rate.

A roomful of old bonsai trees and plants, Huo Sining believed Huang Hongying would certainly love such a flower room.

The more she thought about it, the more Huo Sining felt that this method of reproach could work. However, the pressing matter was to find an old plant sample, which was her ultimate purpose for coming to the market this time.

There were quite a few sellers of old plants in the large market, with prices both high and low, ranging from a mere ten or so yuan to as much as a thousand.

The price of old plants depended not only on their shape and variety but mainly on the thickness of the trunk and the plant’s survival time. The older the plant with a thicker trunk, the higher the selling price.

Huo Sining was in no hurry to make a purchase. She needed to compare goods at three shops and wandered leisurely, looking and asking as she went, slowly forming a plan in her mind.

This stroll did not last long before she reached the end of the market and realized that the flower and bird market ended right at the pet market, where dogs of all shapes and colors were either confined in cages or tied under trees, some large, some small, with various breeds and fur colors.

As for other pets, there were hardly any; she saw only a few hamsters and rabbits for sale, but those vendors seemed to hardly attract any customers, with dismal business prospects.

Woof! Woof woof!

No sooner had Huo Sining stepped into the pet market than a few fierce dogs tore at their leashes and charged toward her, only to be abruptly choked by their chains halfway through, which only angered the dogs, leading them to bellow and howl wildly.

Huo Sining was quite fond of dogs, especially after she got Heitan, and she had taken an interest in dogs.

Already having a large dog like Heitan, Huo Sining had no plans to get another large breed.

However, ever since she got Heitan, Su Qingqing had been quite envious, often expressing the desire to buy a dog like Heitan for herself. Huo Sining had been planning to pick out a dog for Su Qingqing in the dog market for quite some time but had not yet found the opportunity.

Seeing those dogs barking, and one lackluster Tibetan Mastiff even salivating at her, Huo Sining found it quite amusing and couldn’t help but purse her lips in a smile. She stared at them with great interest.

Noticing Huo Sining’s expression, the vendor was immediately invigorated and began to pitch to her, ”Miss, how about buying a dog? These are pedigree dogs from our kennel, great as companions as well as for watching the house. You get the best of both worlds, and at a reasonable price.”

Huo Sining smiled faintly upon hearing this. After keeping Heitan, she had gradually learned a lot about dogs and knew that many sold on the market were mixed breeds.

Mixed-breed dogs lacked sensitivity and intelligence. Keeping one was almost the same as not having one at all, so the vendor’s claim of ”pedigree purebreds” was completely misleading.

Thinking this, Huo Sining made up her mind. Since she was at the dog market, she might as well take a look, and if there was a suitable one, she could just buy it as a gift for Su Qingqing.

After all, with the Spirit of Azure Pearl, even the most mixed breed could have its bloodline purified with a single infusion of spiritual energy.

”Forget it, I won’t look at the old plants for now. Let’s go see the puppies first!”

Muttering to herself, Huo Sining walked towards the dog market not far away.
