Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 615: Chapter 612: Fifty Million a Set

This was nothing special, the choice of jade for the hairpin was far more demanding than for ordinary jewelry. To carve twelve such Jade Hairpins, one would need to waste at least several times more raw material than is used for bracelets and pendants.

Even if someone managed to gather all six colors of materials, it’s not guaranteed they would be willing to use these jadeite pieces to carve hollowed-out Jade Hairpins, as it would be extravagantly wasteful and profligate.

In the jadeite industry, most of the jewelry produced is extremely simple, with the intention of conserving raw materials.

Who would be willing to slice open five or six pieces of High Icy Jadeite just to make a tiny set of hairpins? That would simply be an extravagant waste!

However, looking at the complete set of Jade Hairpins before them, everyone revealed a look of amazement.

Even though Bai Yishan felt a sting for the jadeite materials wasted, she had to admit that such hairpins were indeed very beautiful, and even more attractive than bracelets and necklaces.

Any woman would find it impossible to resist the charm of this set of vintage-style High Icy Jade hairpins.

Even the professional models, who had previously been expressionless, couldn’t help but widen their eyes in admiration upon seeing the Twelve Beauties of Jinling, their gazes heatedly fixated on the central display, clearly unable to forget about those twelve Jade Hairpins and yearning for them deeply.

Because of the appearance of this set of hairpins, in less than ten minutes, the Jade Beauty’s booth number 12 was surrounded by people, three layers inside and three layers outside.

Chinese people just love a spectacle, and in fact, aside from those immediate visitors who could actually see the twelve Jade Hairpins, the others were purely joining the crowd for no reason, since they could see nothing at all.

It was at this moment that a lady in the crowd suddenly asked Bai Yishan, ”Boss, how much are you selling that set of Jade Hairpins for?”

This was the question everyone truly cared about. Everyone was aware that the price tag of those hairpins wouldn’t be cheap, but everything has its price.

Although these tourists might not necessarily make a purchase, they all wanted to know what price such an exquisite set of Jade Hairpins would fetch.

The lady’s question stumped Bai Yishan, who was seeing the hairpins for the first time herself; how could she possibly know their price?

Setting aside the rarity of High Icy Jadeite, the ingenious design and the expertise of the carving craftsmanship suggested it wasn’t the work of an ordinary person, which made Bai Yishan instantly think of the mysterious Master Yan; without guessing, she was sure the set was carved by that peculiar Master Yan.

Seeing someone inquire about the price, Huo Sining turned her head and smiled at the lady, ”Madam, if you’re buying the whole set, these twelve Jade Hairpins are priced at fifty million flat.

”Fifty million?!”

All the attendees couldn’t help but gasp.

Twelve Jade Hairpins for fifty million meant that if sold individually, they would cost at least four million each.

They all knew that jadeite was expensive, but to sell a single Jade Hairpin—where the material wasn’t even as plentiful as in a bracelet—for a price higher than a bracelet was unexpected.

The price completely stunned everyone; no one had anticipated seeing such extravagantly priced jadeite jewelry at the exhibit.

”Jade Association experts and an international inspection group are here, please make way,” someone suddenly announced from the periphery of the crowd. The visitors at booth number twelve quickly stepped aside, allowing Qin Lianshan to lead a large group of people from the outside inward with great pomp.

”Huo Si Ning, I hear there’s been quite the commotion around here. What kind of treasures have you got that even an old man like me can’t resist taking a look?”

As soon as Qin Lianshan walked in, he asked with a chuckle. Before he’d even finished speaking, his gaze was captivated by the set of Twelve Beauties of Jinling hairpins.

”Hey, girl, hurry and bring that set of hairpins over for me to see!”

Huo Si Ning smiled, did as asked, and handed the items to Qin Lianshan. He completely ignored the large group of inspectors following him, clinging to the set of hairpins as if he couldn’t bear to let them go.

Some of the onlookers recognized Qin Lianshan and, seeing the president of the Jade Association pay such close attention to the set of hairpins, were both surprised and excited. They couldn’t help but shout from the back:

”Elder Qin, what’s the story behind this set of hairpins? Why has the boss slapped a price tag of fifty million on them? Could these hairpins really be worth that much?”

”Yeah, this set of hairpins is selling for fifty million—that’s just outrageous.”

The people in the back started to murmur among themselves, noting that the inspection team was clearly led by Qin Lianshan. They guessed that he must be a senior figure in the Jade Association, and naturally, his words carried more authority than the shop owner’s.

Qin Lianshan examined the box of hairpins very closely. The more he looked, the more he felt admiration, regret, and a sense of pain. Various complex emotions welled up in his heart.

However, when he eventually saw a certain mark on the back of the Jade Hairpins, a look of shock and surprise involuntarily appeared in his eyes, and he thought to himself, no wonder...

”Three pieces of High Ice Type Jadeite, three of Glass-Type Imperial Green, and the colors are pure, with high translucency and fine texture—indeed, all are Superior Jadeite!”

Seeing this, Qin Lianshan also couldn’t help but sigh. After putting down the box, he still seemed reluctant to take his eyes off the hairpins.

”If you had made these pieces of jadeite into various ornaments, they would likely be priceless. To destroy such valuable things, you really are willing to do it! You young people are so fearless like newborn calves, not knowing the vastness of the heavens and earth!”

Qin Lianshan was right; this set of hairpins was carved from six pieces of jadeite of different colors. If Yan Feng had carved them into ornaments, any single one could have sold for the price of the whole set or even more.

But when Huo Si Ning accidentally saw a set of design drawings in Yan Feng’s hands and looked at the designs for the twelve Jade Hairpins, she just couldn’t stand to put such a beautiful design down.

Finally, with determination, she had Yan Feng carve out the set according to the design.

What Yu Guanghua didn’t know was that Huo Si Ning had quite a few pieces of raw material on hand, many of which were large, clear chunks, and these hairpins were just a small part carved out from those chunks.

Indeed, the process of making them did waste a good amount of fine material, but for Huo Si Ning, it was hardly a concern.

Just last year, Huo Si Ning hit the jackpot at the Pingzhou Jade Trade Fair, getting her hands on more than ten pieces of Superior Jadeite. Not to mention the great haul she had in Ruili two months ago, including a giant piece of Glass-Type Imperial Green Jadeite.

So, carving out these hairpins was just a minor matter for Huo Si Ning.

”The day I saw the design for this set of hairpins, I was smitten and took quite some time to decide. But since it’s for a collection, the most precious thing is to have one’s favorite. To gain something, one must be willing to give something up. Since I like them, it’s worth sacrificing a bit.”

Huo Si Ning’s face showed a serene smile, but heaven knows how much her heart ached when Yan Feng was carving them and wasting so much good material.
