Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 644: Chapter 641: Old Pile Imperial Tea

Huo Sining was taken aback, and after a moment of silence, he asked, ”Isn’t it an ancient tea tree?”

The old man nodded and then shook his head, ”It is an ancient tea tree, alright, but it’s not as simple as you think. All of these trees I have are top-notch, it took me eight years to cultivate them to this state.”

”Take this one in my hand, for example; do you know what kind of tea tree this is? This is the authentic Imperial Longjing Tea, propagated from the tender branches taken from the eighteen tea trees in front of the Hu Gong Temple at the base of Lion Peak Mountain.”

”The other three are Da Hong Pao, Oolong, and Tieguanyin, all cultivated from the branches of the Imperial Tea Tree. Not to boast, but although I don’t have many ancient tea trees, each and every one is a fine specimen. If you want to buy this tree, it’s not impossible, but the price won’t be cheap.”

The more Huo Sining listened, the more shocked he became, and his eyes were filled with astonishment as he looked at the few ancient trees.

Although Huo Sining wasn’t an expert, he also knew Imperial Tea wasn’t easy to come by.

In the whole country, there were only a few places where the Imperial Tea Tree still existed, all over a thousand years old.

Because these tea trees are extremely rare, harvesting has been prohibited in recent years. The state has classified them as protected plants and appointed special personnel for their protection.

It was already very difficult for ordinary people to get the tender branches of these tea trees, let alone successfully propagate them, which is even more challenging.

The intention of the old farmer’s words was very clear: these few tea trees are both top-quality and rare, and I definitely wouldn’t sell them for anything less than several million.

If Huo Sining hadn’t seen the farmer spare the van driver earlier, he would have thought this person must be crazy for money to make such a bold claim.

But now, Huo Sining didn’t think that way; although he couldn’t exactly say why, when he looked into the old man’s clear, honest eyes, he felt that the old man was probably telling the truth.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but get excited, these ancient tea trees were great stuff. After all, not everyone could drink Imperial Tea, and if he bought them, with the Spirit of Azure Pearl, it might not be long before he could enjoy the imperial tribute tea.

The more he thought about it, the more delighted Huo Sining felt. He looked at the old man and asked, ”I understand what you mean, sir. May I know how much you think these ancient tea trees are worth in your heart?”

The old man had initially hoped that Huo Sining would back off after realizing the difficulty, but to his surprise, she seemed not to have understood the subtext of his words and even dared to ask about the price.

Now, the old man was also conflicted. After pondering for a bit, he said, ”These four pots of ancient tea trees, in my heart, I believe they are priceless. But to say that would make it seem as if I’m overvaluing my own possessions.”

”I’m not going to brag. If I were to really sell them on the market, each of these tea trees would go for at least five hundred thousand RMB a pot, but this pot of Longjing has been damaged and is unlikely to survive. If you really want it, I’ll give you a 90% discount, and sell it to you for fifty thousand.”

The old man thought that Huo Sining, a student, certainly wouldn’t have much money, so he deliberately mentioned a frightening amount in an attempt to scare Huo Sining away. But as soon as he named the price, Huo Sining laughed.

”So you’re saying these four tea trees are priced at a total of one million, five hundred and fifty thousand RMB, right? Alright, I’ll take all of these pots of tea trees from you. What’s your bank account number? I’ll transfer the money to you right now.”

The old man’s expression froze, and he stared at Huo Sining with wide eyes, ”What did you say?!”

Huo Sining was serious and earnestly said, ”I said I’ll take all these pots of tea trees from you.”

”Are you sure? That’s one million, five hundred and fifty thousand, not one hundred and fifty-five. I’m talking about RMB!” The old man couldn’t believe his ears and thought he had heard wrong.

Huo Sining suddenly laughed, ”You heard right, and I didn’t misspeak, it’s 1.55 million. I’ll take all four of these tea trees. Just give me your bank account number, and I’ll transfer the money right now.”

The old man was immediately dumbfounded, giving Huo Sining a weird look to make sure she wasn’t joking. He then fell silent.

He had always kept these four tea trees in the countryside, and this time had asked a neighbor there to help send them over. That neighbor happened to be coming to town for the market and conveniently brought his plants along.

The old man had wanted to bring his son to help collect the plants, but his son was too busy with work, so he had to come alone.

That neighbor was also busy with his own business and couldn’t take care of him, so the old man rode the neighbor’s tricycle, planning to take the stuff to the roadside to hail a cab. Who would have thought he would get hit by someone before he even left the neighborhood?

The old man had never imagined that Huo Sining, a young girl, could be so wealthy and bold, demanding 1.55 million without the slightest hesitation.

Now, he was actually the one who was worried. His original intention was not to sell the plants, but at this point, it was awkward to back down. He couldn’t possibly tell the young lady that he was no longer selling his tea trees—that would be like making promises and not keeping them, toying with others, wouldn’t it?

The old man was silent for a long while, his gaze lingering regretfully on the four ancient tea trees for several glances, before he gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and resolutely said, ”622700******.”

”Hmm?” The old man read out a string of numbers, and Huo Sining was taken aback, not catching on immediately.

”I mean my account number. It’s from the Construction Bank. Hurry up and transfer the money; I’ll only give you ten minutes,” the old man said gruffly.

Huo Sining immediately snapped back to reality and hurriedly took out her phone, ”Please repeat your account number. It won’t take ten minutes. Bank transfers can be done in three minutes. You can rest assured, it won’t delay your matters.”

The old man twitched the corners of his mouth when he heard that, and his look toward Huo Sining was even more distressed.

Delay his matters, delay what matters? The old man thought to himself that he shouldn’t have gone out today without checking the almanac, for bumping into this girl was the real trouble.

Huo Sining wasn’t wrong in her claim. Since the balance in her bank account soared to an eight-digit number, the bank had upgraded her to a VIP customer. Transferring money was a trivial matter that could be easily handled with a phone call, and the efficiency was unexpectedly fast.

No sooner had she hung up the phone than the old man received a call, ”Dad, why did someone suddenly transfer 1.55 million RMB into my account?”

The old man kept his cool, ”I did it. I sold those ancient tea trees. Keep the money for me. I’ll ask for it later.”

”What? Sold them?”

The old man’s daughter was utterly baffled on the other end. Didn’t her dad treasure those tea trees the most? He even refused to keep them in his own yard, claiming the city air was bad, insisting on raising them in the countryside.

Not only that, but the old gentleman would also regularly visit the countryside to be with those ancient tea trees, valuing them more than his own life.

How could he have sold those cherished ancient tea trees without saying a word?
