Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 629: Chapter 626: Division of the Petal Lotus

Huo Sining was secretly pleased but kept a straight face as she entered the shop and looked around, inquiring about several different species of flowers.

The shop owner was a slightly overweight middle-aged man who was very patient. Although Huo Sining asked questions left and right, he didn’t furrow his brow or show any signs of impatience.

Huo Sining felt reassured and finally fixed her gaze on the Calla Lily she was interested in, feigning ignorance as she asked, ”Boss, this is a lotus, right?”

The owner smiled and said, ”Young lady, you’ve got it wrong. This isn’t a lotus; it’s The Droplet Guanyin, which is what we commonly call a Calla Lily.”

”In warm, humid air and soil that’s rich in moisture, this plant will drip water from the tips or edges of its leaves. Furthermore, the flower it blooms resembles the Goddess Guanyin, which is why it’s known as The Droplet Guanyin.”

”This flower carries a hint of Buddhism, and many superstitious people love to cultivate it. It is said that as long as the flower stays alive, it signifies that the family will be safe and prosperous, free of calamity.”

Without intending to, the owner’s words made Huo Sining have a sudden realization. She couldn’t help but mutter softly, ”So that’s how it is, no wonder...”

No wonder Huang Hongying cultivated The Droplet Guanyin, no wonder she cared for that flower so meticulously, and it was the only plant she managed to keep alive; it turned out that the flower had such a meaning.

With her heart set, Huo Sining asked for the price of the Calla Lily and haggled with the owner, finally arriving at a consensus after a long session of bargaining.

She had bought the flower, but how to take it back was a problem.

Since Su Qingqing had spent the previous night at Huo Sining’s place, she had brought Huo Sining over to the Su Family home that morning, and they hadn’t driven there. Now, carrying a pot of flower like that back posed a problem.

The shop owner, seeing that Huo Sining, a young lady, would definitely not be able to carry such a large pot, immediately decided to help Huo Sining deliver the Calla Lily to the doorstep of the Xie Family.

This was truly great news. Huo Sining felt joy in her heart and thanked the owner profusely several times.

Just as she was about to turn and leave, joy turned into despair—in that moment, someone walked in from outside. Huo Sining couldn’t step back in time and collided full-on with the person.

”Watch out!”

The shop owner exclaimed in alarm just as the two of them collided. The flower pot the man was holding fell straight from his hands.

”Crash—”

A loud noise rang out, and Huo Sining hurriedly looked down in panic.

The floor was a mess with soil scattered all around, and a brown ceramic flower pot was shattered into several pieces.

Within this pot, the once healthy plant’s long leaves were now significantly damaged, and its stem was bent at the break.

The sudden incident had stunned them both, and they stood there, staring in shock.

After a few seconds had passed, the owner of the flower pot reacted, his face changing dramatically as he hurriedly bent down to pick up the plant.

Seeing its broken stems and leaves, his face darkened immediately. He raised his head and glared fiercely at Huo Sining, angrily saying, ”Hey, are you blind? Can’t you watch where you’re going?”

The one who was hit was a young man, about twenty-six or twenty-seven years old, dressed flamboyantly with two-inch-long hair styled into a spiky explosion, and his ears were adorned with a row of earrings.

Compared to the boys Huo Sining usually encountered, this person’s attire was unquestionably too alternative.

Upon hearing the other party’s rude words, Huo Sining couldn’t help but furrow her brows, wanting to refute him.

But seeing the man bend over, looking angrily at the flower on the ground, she swallowed the words that were about to burst out.

It was her recklessness that had damaged the other person’s flower, and although it wasn’t intentional, if she were to retort now, it would truly be her fault.

”I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention...” Huo Sining apologized hastily, not wanting to stoop to this person’s level.

Yet, the man glared back fiercely, ”Just sorry? Do you know how much this orchid is worth? With your collision, this flower is on a one-way path to death!”

Knowing that she was at fault, Huo Sining couldn’t argue and had to accept her misfortune, ”Alright then, how much did you pay for this flower? I’ll compensate you.”

The man looked Huo Sining up and down, sneered, and said, ”This flower cost me eight thousand yuan, do you, a young girl, have that kind of money to compensate?”

Eight thousand yuan for a mere plant? Could this man be a scammer, taking advantage of her guilt to try to extort her? Huo Sining’s expression turned dubious as she stared skeptically at the flower in the man’s hand.

The middle-aged shop owner standing by seemed to have noticed Huo Sining’s doubt and quickly explained:

”I can vouch for that. Mr. Hu’s Petal Lotus Orchid was indeed bought from my shop recently. Although it hasn’t bloomed yet, it was separated from the root of an orchid that had already produced a Petal Lotus. That Petal Lotus was sold for four hundred and eighty thousand yuan, so Mr. Hu spent eight thousand yuan to buy this division.”

The parent plant was a famous one, no wonder this inconspicuous Orchid Grass sold for eight thousand yuan. Huo Sining’s expression eased, and she nodded, saying:

”I was wrong from the start, and since that is the case, I will compensate the eight thousand yuan.”

Hearing the young girl in front of him candidly admit her fault and forthrightly state she would cover the loss, this somewhat put Hu Yongyuan in a dilemma.

Indeed, he had bought the Petal Lotus Orchid for eight thousand yuan, but due to improper care, it had recently been ailing and had become a diseased plant. It was uncertain whether it could be saved.

That was why he had brought it in, hoping the shop owner would take a look, only to encounter this mishap as soon as he entered the store.

At first, his tone was a bit harsh, but since Huo Sining sincerely apologized and said she would pay compensation, Hu Yongyuan felt it inappropriate to pursue the matter any further. The girl was after all just a student in her teens; it was unreasonable for him to bully a schoolgirl.

”Forget it, let’s just say I’m unlucky. This flower was already problematic; whether it can be restored is still uncertain. Now with this accident, it seems like it was its fated calamity. Consider the eight thousand I spent as tuition paid.”

Huo Sining was slightly taken aback. Before she could speak, the middle-aged shop owner beside her moved forward swiftly, bent down to pick up the Petal Lotus, and examined it carefully. After looking it over, he couldn’t help shaking his head:

”Your ’tuition’ wasn’t wasted in vain. This flower suffered from sunburn during the day and the cold at night, and then was struck unexpectedly by moldy rain. Even without being hit, it wouldn’t have survived more than a few days. What a pity, I had hoped this division would bloom like its parent Petal Lotus. Now it seems that only the Great Luo Immortal could save it.”

Hearing the owner’s words, the man scratched the back of his head, his face reddening with embarrassment:

”Uncle Ma, it’s exactly as you said. Some time ago, I put this flower on the windowsill for some sunlight but forgot to bring it in. That night, it rained heavily, and in just a few days, the flower ended up like this.”
