Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 618: Chapter 615 The Diamond is Fake

With these thoughts in mind, Huo Sining couldn’t help but frown.

If Liu Yuxuan didn’t come to stir up trouble, that would be best, but if she provoked her again, she shouldn’t blame her for not holding back—Huo Sining was certainly not made of clay!

Huo Sining was still distracted when Ouyang Jun seemed to find the jewelry quite troublesome.

He glanced at the necklace that the saleslady had just introduced, seemingly satisfied but also somewhat displeased, and couldn’t help lifting his head to ask Huo Sining, ”What do you think of this one?”

Huo Sining came back to her senses and picked up the diamond necklace.

She wasn’t very familiar with diamonds. Diamonds and jadeite were alike in this regard, highly marked up in price, from procurement to polishing and production to final sales, with a vast price difference between low-end and high-end products, making it difficult to judge. The only way to determine their quality was by using the diamonds’ hardness, but in a place like this, there was no way to verify that.

She couldn’t help but frown and asked, ”Seven 1.6-carat white diamonds, plus the design from an Italian designer, a unique style, all for just 228,000 yuan?”

The saleslady’s face lit up at these words, thinking that Huo Sining was finding the item not high-end enough, and she hurriedly said:

”If you don’t like this design, miss, then follow me, we have other styles over there.”

Huo Sining waved her hand: ”That’s not what I mean. I mean, the price of your diamonds is so low, there couldn’t be flaws in the diamonds, could there? Or is there some other issue with the diamonds?”

The saleslady immediately smiled, ”Miss, you can absolutely rest assured on this point. All the products in our store come with a quality certification. You can have complete peace of mind.”

”Moreover, although we are a branch of Tianyuan Jewelry Store, we are a key subsidiary that Tianyuan focuses on cultivating, so it’s impossible to have counterfeit goods in our shop.”

”As for the price being lower than the market value, you are right about that because we are holding a jewelry exhibition for three days. So, our company is offering a significant promotion on new products mainly to advertise, and during these three days, please take another look. Once this chance is missed, it will be hard to find such an opportunity again.”

Seeing that Huo Sining didn’t show much reaction, the saleslady took the diamond necklace to a specially prepared light, saying:

”Let me show you and you’ll understand. Look, under the light, each facet of these seven diamonds is transparent and colorless, definitely standard first-class quality diamonds!”

Holding the diamond necklace, Huo Sining inspected it and didn’t know why, but she always felt there was something wrong with it.

The diamonds didn’t elicit a comfortable feeling in her hand, but rather a cold and lifeless one.

Although Huo Sining had never purchased diamonds and didn’t know if they were supposed to feel this way, she always felt that something was off about this particular diamond.

After pondering for a moment, Huo Sining slightly furrowed her brows and suddenly thought of something. She took off a glass-type colorless Jade Buddha she always carried around her neck and scratched one of the diamonds on the necklace against it.

”What are you doing? That’s a glass-type jade pendant!”

Ouyang Jun was taken aback and hastily pulled the necklace from Huo Sining’s hand.

Seeing how roughly Ouyang Jun handled the necklace, the saleslady’s face changed immediately and she exclaimed in alarm:

”Miss, you can’t scratch it like that! If it gets scratched, you will have to compensate for it!”

The salesgirl carefully took the necklace back from Ouyang Jun’s hands and examined it closely, relieved to see that the diamond was not damaged.

Huo Sining looked at her Little Colorless Jade Buddha and indeed found no scratches on it, and couldn’t help but speak up:

”This necklace of yours is not made of real diamond! Just now you claimed it was a top-grade diamond, which is nothing but consumer fraud!”

The salesgirl’s face immediately darkened, and she glared as she furiously said:

”Miss, you can’t just say anything you like. This is clearly a top-grade diamond; the appraisal certificate is right here. How could we possibly deceive you? It seems to me you’re deliberately here to cause trouble!”

Huo Sining grew angry too, ”Diamond is a diamond, and jadeite belongs to corundum. If I’m not mistaken, diamonds have a hardness of 10, while corundum’s hardness is 9.”

With that, Huo Sining held up the glass-type jadeite in her hand:

”You who deal in diamonds should know that a diamond is the hardest substance on Earth, right? My Jade Buddha is glass-type jadeite, also known as corundum, with a hardness of only 9. Then why, when I used your diamond to scratch my jadeite, did it not leave any scratch at all?”

Seeing that the salesgirl was stunned and did not respond, Huo Sining couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh:

”Miss, it’s wrong to deceive people. You are using fake diamonds to cheat customers, which constitutes illegal behavior! If I’m not mistaken, this necklace is not made of diamond at all, but zircon!”

Diamond, being the hardest substance on Earth, is often used in glass-cutting tools in many glass shops.

In a diamond store, such common knowledge should be known to everyone.

Just moments ago, the diamond necklace that Huo Sining had aggressively scratched against her Little Colorless Jade Buddha did not cut into the glass-type jadeite nor did it leave any scratch on the Jade Buddha.

Huo Sining’s accusation attracted the attention of several customers who were browsing the merchandise.

After verifying that Huo Sining was holding real glass-type jadeite, a few of them couldn’t help but feel relieved:

”Miss, you’re so bold. Your jadeite is of the finest quality; if this diamond necklace had been real, your jade Buddha worth hundreds of thousands would have been ruined. You shouldn’t act rashly in such matters; it’s fortunate nothing happened, or you would have had nowhere to cry.”

”What is going on with this store? Didn’t you say the jewelry had been appraised by a professional institution? How could there be fakes? I hope your appraisal certificates don’t have issues too. It seems like you are taking advantage of us customers for not knowing much about diamonds.”

”Exactly, how could you trick customers with a fake diamond? This is a jewelry exhibition; how can a company like yours be allowed to exhibit here?”

”Call the Jade Association right away to complain. Such companies should not be indulged, otherwise, they really think they can swindle us. If we wore such fake items out, wouldn’t we be utterly humiliated?”

The salesgirl had never seen such a scene before and was on the verge of crying, being scolded by a crowd of people.

This incident was, after all, a matter organized by the company, and the salesgirl was simply following the training materials provided to her during regular training sessions.

Besides, the manager always reminded them to be careful, as the quality of the items in the store was guaranteed, which was why she confidently boasted to the customers. Little did she know that even diamonds could turn from real to fake.
