Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 627: Chapter 624 Itch Powder

After three consecutive days of bustling activity, not only Huo Sining and Bai Yishan, but also Wu Jun and Li Quan were almost worn out.

Although the jewelry exhibition was an excellent platform, the event was indeed not an easy task. By the time of the closing ceremony on the third day, Huo Sining felt sore all over, as if there wasn’t a single muscle in her body that didn’t ache.

Even with the Water-Repelling Pearl protecting her body, she found herself in this state, let alone ordinary people like Bai Yishan.

At the end of the exhibition, Huo Sining’s ”Twelve Beauties of Jinling” set indeed took the top honors, selling for 60 million to a British Earl.

Moreover, ”Jade Beauty” became the talk of the jewelry show over these three days, with all products in the showcase selling out and several large orders from domestic and international jewelers secured.

In three days, the small studio Jade Beauty became famous, earning tens of millions just in deposits.

After the hectic jewelry exhibition, Jade Beauty’s new store officially got on track, and Huo Sining decided to entrust Wu Jun with full authority to manage it, while the antique store in Liulichang was left to Li Quan to handle.

However, as the antique store was not ready for opening yet, Huo Sining simply asked Li Quan to renovate it and handle the operational procedures, and when he was not busy, to learn store management with Wu Jun.

During this time, Huo Sining had been secretly observing Lin Wenya and found that the girl was capable, patient, amiable, and eager to learn.

Even during the jewelry exhibition, Huo Sining saw Lin Wenya making time to read books about jade and jadeite whenever there was a spare moment.

This made Huo Sining appreciate the girl, and she couldn’t help but mention her to Wu Jun a few times. After the exhibition ended, Wu Jun indeed promoted her to the position of lobby manager.

Faced with this sudden and delightful surprise, Lin Wenya could hardly believe it, her face flushed with disbelief as she hesitated to take over, ”Manager Wu, this... I’ve just started with jadeite, and I don’t understand anything. I... this important position, I’m afraid I might not be capable of handling it...”

Wu Jun smiled reassuringly, ”You don’t need to be nervous. It’s not just you in this store, there’s me, even Manager Li, Miss Huo—we’re all novices. Before this, none of us had run a jewelry store; we are all crossing the river by feeling the stones.”

”So don’t feel any pressure. It wasn’t me who appointed you to this position; it was Miss Huo who personally mentioned it to me. Even if you don’t trust yourself, you should trust Miss Huo’s judgment. If she thinks you can do well in this position, then you definitely won’t have a problem.”

Lin Wenya took on the challenge with determination and it took her several days in office to fully grasp the situation.

By coincidence, on the day Huo Sining was preparing to leave Imperial Capital, she stopped by the store before departing. After mentally preparing herself for several minutes, Lin Wenya finally mustered up the courage to approach Huo Sining and said:

”Boss, thank you for your great trust in me. Please be assured, I will definitely strive to make myself worthy of this position!”

Huo Sining chuckled, ”Don’t thank me, if anyone should be thanked, it’s yourself. It was your earnestness and sincerity that moved me. I believe that a person who is serious and responsible in their work can’t possibly be good for nothing. Trust me, I, Huo Sining, may not be skilled in other areas, but I do have the ability to make money. As long as you work hard with me, I promise you a lifetime of splendor and honor!”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Lin Wenya’s eyes grew moist and shiny. She began to fill with longing and anticipation for the future that Huo Sining described.

”You can call me Miss Huo, Sining, or Ningning from now on—just don’t call me boss anymore, it’s too awkward. I’m not old, and being called that by you makes me feel aged.”

While speaking, Huo Sining suddenly thought of something, ”Oh yes, has that scumbag Zhao still been harassing you? If he ever shamelessly offends you again, go straight to Wu Jun for help. Don’t handle it by yourself—you’re a delicate girl, not a match for that kind of scum. Don’t let yourself suffer without knowing it. Wu Jun is an ex-military guy with good combat skills, he’ll take minutes to beat Zhao so bad his own parents won’t recognize him!”

Hearing this, Lin Wenya couldn’t help but let out a chuckle, feeling warmed by the concern, ”It’s alright now, Zhao Mingcheng hasn’t dared to show his face during this time, probably scared off by the last beating.”

Huo Sining kept a straight face but inwardly sneered. Such a scumbag had unmatched persistence in pestering others and had long since lost all sense of shame. His absence wasn’t due to fear; it must be because of the itch powder she had planted on him taking effect.

That itch powder was something Yan Feng had tested on Xu Lian and his crowd. Huo Sining had seen the effects of the itch powder herself, so without guessing, she knew too well the miserable state Zhao Mingcheng was in right now—though she felt not the slightest sympathy for him.

In her past life, this scumbag had ruined her life. In this life, she merely gave him some itch powder to taste the disturbing discomfort of uncontrollable itching, bloating, and disfigurement from repulsive bumps without being able to scratch them, which was letting him off easy.

Initially, the primitive itch powder concocted by Yan Feng required an antidote, but after testing on Xu Lian and his group, Yan Feng improved the formula. The enhanced version only caused the victim to itch terribly and develop dark red bumps all over for half a month. After that period, the itching and the bumps would naturally go away.

Of course, if the victim couldn’t endure the itching and lost control of their hands to scratch, that would be a different story—the scratched areas would definitely scar.

Being able to punish several worthless men and contemptible women without making a sound or exposing herself was something Huo Sining thoroughly enjoyed about this prank medication.

After returning to S City, Huo Sining’s life gradually settled into simplicity, until half a month later—the fiftieth birthday celebration of Huang Hongying.

Compared to the aunts and uncles back in the Imperial Capital, Huo Sining’s affection for Huang Hongying was obviously more genuine.

For one thing, Huo Sining lived in S City and was always looked after by Huang Hongying. She stayed nearby and often visited the Su family to play and freeload meals with Su Qingqing, deepening their bond. Secondly, Huang Hongying was about the same age as Huo Sining’s father, Liang Ruining. They were close since childhood, so Huo Sining always felt that seeing Huang Hongying allowed her to feel closer to her father, to hear snippets and tales about him through Huang Hongying’s words.

Because of their deeper connection, and since this was Huo Sining’s first birthday celebration for Huang Hongying since they recognized their relationship, Huo Sining was particularly earnest about her aunt’s birthday.

Huo Sining wanted to gift Huang Hongying something special for her birthday, but with Su Group’s Donghua in the Su family, Huang Hongying naturally didn’t care much for antiques, jewelry, or ornaments. This left Huo Sining in a dilemma, unsure what present would be both unique and appreciated by Huang Hongying.
