Urban Martial Saint

Liu Cheng’s doubts immediately raised suspicion among many people toward Lin Tianyou, including Li Yanwu, who also looked at Lin Tianyou with confusion.

”This is not really experimenting on people.” Lin Tianyou shook his head and said, ”The medicine I’m using has absolutely no toxic side effects. If it doesn’t work, at most it will be expelled from the body, and it won’t harm the body in any way. Moreover, I’m ninety percent sure that this medicine will have an effect on the patient. I think it’s worth a try since there’s no loss.”

”No toxic side effects at all?” Liu Cheng said coldly, ”Hmph, you really like to brag, huh. As the saying goes, all medicines have some poison. Are you daring to say that your medicine has no toxic side effects at all?”

Lin Tianyou was silent for a moment, then said, ”Mr. Liu, if you insist on nitpicking, then I have nothing to say. However, I personally feel that this method is worth a try.”

Liu Cheng said, ”You personally feel? You think this method is worth a try, so our soldiers have to be the ones to test it. Let me ask you, if something goes wrong, who will bear the responsibility?”

”Liu Cheng, aren’t you being unreasonable!” Su Kaicheng couldn’t help but shout.

”How am I being unreasonable? Am I not stating facts?” Liu Cheng said, ”Since we’ve ruled out using live humans for research, we should uphold a humanitarian attitude. Now using people to test drugs, how is that fundamentally different from using live humans for research earlier? If something really goes wrong, who will bear this responsibility? Will you bear it?”

”I’ll bear it!” Lin Tianyou suddenly spoke up, loudly saying, ”If anything goes wrong, I will personally take on the responsibility!”

As soon as he said this, the entire room was astonished, everyone staring at Lin Tianyou in shock. Most of the people present were doctors, and they knew very well the kind of pressure Lin Tianyou was taking on by saying this. After all, this disease is very strange, and without absolute certainty, who would dare to bear this responsibility? If nothing happens, all is well, but if something does go wrong, then Lin Tianyou truly can’t escape responsibility!

”Doctor Lin...” Su Kaicheng’s expression changed, just about to speak, but was stopped by Lin Tianyou with a wave of his hand.

Lin Tianyou calmly looked at Li Yanwu beside him and said, ”General Li, if my medicine causes them any discomfort or accident, I’m willing to take on this responsibility. Now, can we test the medicine?”

Since Lin Tianyou said that, Liu Cheng naturally couldn’t say anything more, just looking at Lin Tianyou angrily. In his view, by saying such a thing, Lin Tianyou was deliberately putting him in a difficult position.

Li Yanwu pondered for a while, then slowly nodded and said, ”Doctor Lin, are you sure this medicine won’t kill anyone?”

Lin Tianyou nodded and said, ”Definitely won’t!”

Li Yanwu directly slapped the table, as if making a firm decision, resolutely saying, ”Alright then, let’s try the medicine you mentioned!”

Liu Cheng opened his mouth, but in the end, didn’t say anything further. Just now, Li Yanwu’s inquiry to Lin Tianyou was actually telling Lin Tianyou that as long as his medicine doesn’t kill anyone, he won’t hold Lin Tianyou accountable, clearly showing some protection for Lin Tianyou.

With Li Yanwu’s approval, Lin Tianyou directly wrote down the prescription that Ye Qing had previously told him. It was all Chinese medicine, so it was very convenient to prepare here, and soon all the medicinal ingredients were ready, brewed into a bowl and brought over.

The patient was still lying weakly on the ground, with several of his significant acupuncture points pressed by Ye Qing. He wanted to regain his strength, but it would take at least five or six hours. So, this bowl of medicine was fed to him effortlessly.

Li Yanwu watched nervously from the side as the patient drank the medicine. In fact, at this moment, his heartbeat was even faster. If Lin Tianyou’s method worked, then they would truly find an antidote, and the task hanging over everyone’s head could finally be completed.

The mood of Liu Cheng next to him was actually quite similar to Li Yanwu, except, he was worried that Lin Tianyou’s medicine would really work. In that case, it would be Su Kaicheng’s invite that got the matter done, and the credit would go to Su Kaicheng, which he least wanted to see.

Watching the patient drink the Chinese medicine, everyone stared at the patient, wanting to see if there was any change. However, after a full half-hour, there were still no unusual circumstances, causing many people to start murmuring.

”Hey, is your medicine useless? Why is there no reaction at all?” Liu Cheng couldn’t help but ask.

”The effect of Chinese medicine is relatively slow, but the treatment effect is very good.” Lin Tianyou said, ”If you want to see results, you’ll have to wait until at least tomorrow morning.”

”Really?” Liu Cheng looked skeptical. To him, Lin Tianyou’s method didn’t seem very reliable.

”We’ll know by tomorrow morning, won’t we?” Ye Qing said softly beside him.

Liu Cheng frowned slightly, just about to speak when Li Yanwu directly said loudly, ”Since that’s the case, let’s wait until tomorrow morning to see the results. Everyone has been traveling and is exhausted, let’s rest a bit and discuss this matter tomorrow!”

Li Yanwu gave an order, and immediately soldiers came over to take the group to the dormitory for rest. Each doctor had their own room, which was fairly decent in terms of conditions.

Ye Qing happened to be staying next to Lin Tianyou. As soon as he returned to his room, Ye Qing sat down with Lin Tianyou to discuss the patient’s condition.

Actually, Lin Tianyou already had a basic treatment plan in mind, but the premise was to see if the prescription Ye Qing mentioned could actually cure this bloodthirsty syndrome. If it could be cured, then his method could be implemented. After all, using drugs to suppress human brain nerves is not difficult to resolve in medicine. And this bloodthirsty syndrome is the real difficult and complicated disease, hard to treat. So, curing the bloodthirsty syndrome is the key; as for the matter of suppressing brain nerves with drugs, that part is not difficult.

Just as the two were discussing this treatment plan, there was a slight knock on the door.

Lin Tianyou was taken aback for a moment, but Ye Qing smiled and said, ”I guess it’s Elder Brother Su.”

Ye Qing got up and went to open the door, but who would’ve thought, standing outside was not Su Kaicheng, but a medium-build man. This man had several scars on his face, almost ruining it completely, giving him an indescribable terrifying look.

Ye Qing was slightly surprised; he did remember this man, who was also one of the doctors from the afternoon. His appearance was quite attention-grabbing in the crowd, so Ye Qing had a bit of an impression of him. Furthermore, Ye Qing also remembered that this man’s name seemed to be Hou Yuewen.

”Oh?” Seeing Ye Qing, Hou Yuewen seemed a bit surprised as well, and he chuckled, ”Doctor Ye, you’re here too?”

”Just came over.” Ye Qing nodded and asked, ”Doctor Hou, what’s up?”

”Oh, I just heard Doctor Lin talking about the patient’s condition. Actually, I have some insights too. So, I came over to chat with Doctor Lin to see if we could possibly find a treatment method,” Hou Yuewen said, glancing at Lin Tianyou behind him and smiling, ”Is Doctor Lin busy?”

Upon hearing that the visitor was there to discuss treatment methods, Lin Tianyou immediately stood up and invited Hou Yuewen into the room. Although Ye Qing was a bit baffled, he didn’t think much of it, allowing Hou Yuewen inside, and the three of them sat down together to discuss the patient’s condition.

”Does Doctor Hou have any views on the patient’s condition?” Ye Qing asked with a light smile. In fact, he was testing Hou Yuewen to see if he really had insights into the patient’s condition. He always felt that Hou Yuewen’s visit was quite abrupt.

Hou Yuewen said, ”I wouldn’t call it a view, I just feel that some of the patient’s symptoms are quite similar to a strange disease that is rumored in folklore.”

”Oh? What strange disease?” Ye Qing quickly asked, his mind filled with a bit of astonishment. Could it be that Hou Yuewen also knew about the bloodthirsty sickness?

”There was a patient I saw before who had an extremely rare illness.” Hou Yuewen paused and said in a deep voice, ”Bloodthirsty Syndrome!”

Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou both were shocked, not expecting that Hou Yuewen would also know about the bloodthirsty syndrome. It seemed that the group of doctors who came by really did include hidden talents; it wasn’t just the two of them who knew about this bloodthirsty syndrome.

”Doctor Hou has seen patients with bloodthirsty syndrome?” Lin Tianyou quickly asked.

”Saw one before, with conditions similar to these patients. However, I haven’t observed them up close just now, so I can’t be sure if they indeed have symptoms of bloodthirsty disease,” Hou Yuewen chuckled and said, ”That’s why I came to ask Doctor Lin about the specific situation to see if it matches the symptoms I’ve seen before.”

After hearing this, Lin Tianyou immediately recounted the specific symptoms of that patient earlier. Upon hearing this, Hou Yuewen directly slapped the table and said, ”No doubt about it, these are exactly the symptoms, the symptoms of bloodthirsty syndrome. It seems my guess was spot-on, these people indeed have bloodthirsty illness, identical to the symptoms of the previous patient I encountered!”

”Then how was your previous patient treated?” Lin Tianyou promptly asked.

”Previously…” Hou Yuewen was just about to speak when suddenly there was another knock on the door.

The three of them turned their heads simultaneously. Ye Qing smiled and said, ”This time it must be Elder Brother Su!”

As Ye Qing said this, he got up and went to open the door. However, upon seeing the person outside, Ye Qing was taken aback again. This time, it wasn’t Su Kaicheng again, but another doctor, the elderly man who applauded Ye Qing when he rebutted Liu Cheng earlier.

”Mr. Ye, so you’re here! I was looking for you everywhere!” The old man chuckled as he saw the two people inside. He laughed and said, ”Wow, it’s quite lively in here!”

After speaking, without waiting for Ye Qing and Lin Tianyou to respond, he quite naturally walked into the room, sat by the table, and said with a smile, ”What are you all discussing? Seems like a heated discussion.”

First came Hou Yuewen, and then this elderly man, the arrival of two unexpected visitors had completely caught Ye Qing off guard. He couldn’t simply ask them to leave, so he walked into the room and continued to sit by the table.
